There's never really a basis for developing a point of friendship with the character. At best you're expected to have a case of hero worship for him.I honestly don't get the hate for States. If it was aimed at Jack 'Statesman' Emmert, then sure. Guy was an idiot from the sounds of it.
But States himself? Eh, sure he's old fashioned and quite black/white cut-glass...but he's lived a long time. Life does that to you when you're old and you've seen as many people as he's probably seen die.
Now fast forward 7 years (To right now). Statesman is dead and we're all expected to be all weepy and upset at it. Sorry, I only weep over people I actually care for and I do not care for Statesman. I wish him no harm, but he's not exactly on my Christmas card list. Even from an in-character stand point the majority of my characters have never actually seen Statesman in person. He'd be like President of the US. You see him on the TV and you hear him make speech but he's not the guy you see walking his dog every morning at 7:08 that you stop and have a quick chat with. If president Obama were killed (No Political messages!!!!), would I recognize a moment of silence for his passing? Yes. Am I going to be all weepy over it? Not particularly. -

Oh dear god, you didn't come into a Best Buy in Virginia Tuesday and buy a 25 pack of CD-Rs, did you?
I had a customer who came in and wanted to purchase a pack of CD-Rs. He asked me to do a price check on a pack of 25. I did, and they came up $17.99. He then informed me that they were tagged as a 30 pack of CD-RWs for $29.99. He then went on to explain that I should give him a discount because they were mis-tagged. When I said no, he then tried to explain that since there are 5 fewer CD-Rs then the tagged indicated pack of CD-RWs and that by comparing CD-RWs as being comparable to 25 CD-Rs each (Since you can re-write on a CD-RW approximately 25 times where has with a CD-R you can only write on once) then the pack of 25 CD-Rs should be priced to a point approximately 1/30th the price of the 30 pack of CD-RWs.
I'm sorry, just because you can string a bunch of words and numbers together with the concept "logic" to be inferred does not make a logical argument. -

Ultimately I would like to get 2 episodes out a month excepting November through December. I expect people are goign to busy the entire month of December so no episodes then and probably one get one out in November. But due to the start up we're probably going to be starting in the middle of the month of April for the series proper.

We're working on the promo episode and I would like to make it as difficult as possible so we can hammer out the problems upfront. Basically, while the promo episode is intend to be half as long as a full episode I fully expect it to take twice as long as a full episode should take. With that being said, I want to have the Promo Episode done and available for viewing by the 2nd week of March. And then be in full production for the series by the end of April. -

I mean come -on- developers, designers, implementers. Have you really gotten -this- lazy?
CIty of heroes was made to be a game of diversity, where we could customize how we wanted and play how we wanted, not a set of gloves that only fits one hand.
You want Walk/Hoverboard (and I assume Flying Carpet and Cyote Travel as well) to be changed because clicking them shuts down other powers. Now There are two points I'm confused about. I'll outline them below:
1) You do not explain how you want these powers to be changed above or beyond the ability to use other powers while the previous mentioned powers are active. While this sounds to be a simple point, it leave considerable details unaddressed. I will go into more detail shortly.

Now back to point 1. I know it sounds simple to just say "Let me use [insert power name] while I'm walking/flying my carpet/running as a coyote/riding my hover board." But to what effect? If it's an attack power does it hit harder? Is it more likely to miss? How will it look?
Lets say I'm using the Cyote travel power and I go to use brawl. Does the Coyote jump up on it's hind legs and punch the target in question with it's paw? Some how that doesn't seem to be very effective.
Lets say I'm using hover board and I go to use Foot stomp. Well number one how do I use foot stomp when I'm in the air? and number two if I am using it, it would seem like I'd be foot stomping my board. So what happens when I do this?
Before I could put any support behind this request I would want to see these points addressed.
As for my counter point to this request: I do not see the benefits of changing a series of powers to access to over 580+ (I stopped counting after 580) other power because you do not wish to look at the power tray before clicking the power, or moving the problematic power to a different tray to avoid the problem all together, to be worth the investment of man-power on the part of Paragon Studios. There are other more vital problems to address in the game.
Some examples of these more vital problems I can think of:
- The glitch where the Holiday Powers clear your power tray
- The Tailor problem with Mace Mastery
- The Fog of war Resetting on various maps
I can appreciate your frustration at the event you have described, but I do not feel that the incident in question should require the man-power that you are asking for to correct it when there are already simple answers that you can undertake with out the Developers involvement. -

Well, just keep an eye out on the forums Dug. I've gotten a fair number of responses from people interested in auditioning so following the auditions themselves, with a little luck and a fair amount of effort, should only be 1-2 weeks to produce the promo episode. And with so many people auditioning I'm hopeful I'll be able to find the bulk of the actors I need for the ongoing series right off the bat.

this promo episode takes place prior to the in-game arcs and thus before Grym joins the group. So the downside: No, no Grym in the promo. The up side: We will get to see his introduction in the series itself.

Good Day all. We have begun work to produce an ongoing machinima series based around the characters of the Shining Stars arcs. Thats right, we want to bring Twinshot, Dillo and all the rest to life in an ongoing series. With the help of the awesome Mr Mechanic, we are now prepared to begin the series work in producing the promo episode. There is a reason this is the promo episode and not a full episode, its job will be establish the core characters (IE: Twinshot, Dillo, Proton, and FlameBeuax) and to generate interest in the series. We are hopeful that that interest will get more people to work on the series with us.
So why are we posting this here? Simple. We're putting a call out for those interested in lending their voices to the series. Thats right, we are going to give you a chance to convince us that you have the voice to give TwinShot, and the other members of the Shining Stars, life on the screen.
How Do I audition?
Simple. Send me (Torroes Prime) a PM telling me what part(s) you wish to audition for. In response I will send you a section of the script for that deal with your desired characters to read and study. From there, pick a time (listed below) to audition.
We will be conducting auditions via TeamSpeak VOIP services so you will need to have TeamSpeak installed and set up prior to your audition. Obviously you will also need a microphone and speakers or head set as well.
Who can I audition for?
Even though this is only a promo-episode, and this is intended to be shorter than a full episode, there are still several characters that need voicing. Most of these characters are recurring characters in the series such as Flamebeaux and Twinshot. In those cases, you will be auditioning for the characters roll and we will be expecting you to commit to the series proper should you pass your audition. There are also a couple bit parts that while they may reappear later in the series are not intended to be regular characters. People who audition for these parts may also be contacted to provide extra voices for scenes on an as-needed basis.
Regular Characters
TwinShot: The spunky founding member of the Shining Stars
FlameBeaux: what can I say? I need someone to voice FlameBeaux.
Proton: The Science officer of the Shining Stars.
Dillo: *Hoorb* Yep that little ball of joy is in here too.
Bit parts
Hero: TwinShot approaches him and asks him to join the Shining Stars. He says no in a way indicating that shes not heroic enough or strong enough to be a real hero.
Registrar: The Super groups registrar.
With the bit parts, while they are intended to be male roles I see no reason in requiring them to be. So if we have a woman that we really like the voice of for the registrar, well put a woman behind the desk. Likewise for the Hero.
When will auditions be held?
We will be holding 2 audition times. The first will be Friday, the 3rd of February at Noon EST, while the second will be Saturday, the 4th at 4pm est.
How do I audition?
Send me a PM. Because this is being handled online, I will need several pieces of info in that PM. I will outline what they are:
1) Which audition time you can make.
2) Youre Screen name you will use on TeamSpeak.
3) Whether youre a guy or a girl (Need to know who Im calling up to read for what parts)
4) If there is a particular part you want to read for.
In response I will send you the log in info for the TeamSpeak server.
How with the Auditions be handled?
Ever audition for a play? Same idea, except through TeamSpeak. Myself and possibly the lead writer, Mr Mechanic, will be present to conduct the auditions. Everyone will be present at the given time slot and we will call one to three people out to read a selection. For instance:
Lets say LaDyJaY, VixtorViksen, Trixie, MegaThor, Asteroth and Loki come to audition. We may call LaDyJay to read for TwinShot, Trixie to read for FlameBeuax, and MegaThor to read for the SuperGroup Registrar. We will inform them of the particular passage to read and they will go through the scene acting as they see fit. Mr Mechanic and I will make notes on the performance and the individuals. We may ask individuals to make repeat performances or ask them to read for a different character.
So, who's interested? If you have any questions toss 'em up here and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. -
I haven't personally tried this with every FX out there, but I have seen some FXs scale with the size of the target. So you can try making a totally black COSTUME character and making it size 1 so it'd be 5 feet below 6' tall. the FX MIGHT scale that way.

Cause if it can't be changed in scale then what is the FXSCALE actually do but have the exact same number for every FX I've ever seen?
*shrugs* no clue. The game doesn't actually use them. The FX scale could actually be a hold over from something they had originally intended to make use of but had to drop for whatever reason. -

you know, it's worth noting that in the original in-game cute scene, it runs for about 50 seconds, consists of 2 characters and has a total of 10 lines between those characters. But in my expanded version, it now runs closer to 3 minutes, contains 5 characters and I now have over 50 sound files in my vocals folder.

The game engine only renders objects with in such a distance of the PLAYER designated entry. I think it's about 50 feet or so but I don't know that for a fact. Regardless, the crowds were out side of that range and thus were not rendering.
I took the POS and PYR data for the camera, copied it and applied it to a new entry named CAMERA that uses the PUDDLE NPC and then designated that as the PLAYER entity. That way the PLAYER is in the exact same location as the camera.
So the crowds are now with in distance of the PLAYER and render:

one of my all time favorite movies is the 1986 "Transformers: The Movie" and I'll be honest, it's almost entirely because of Orson Well's as the voice as Unicron... I may have to do a fan-dub of the entire movie just so I can have you do the voice of Unicron. Seriously, those lines you sent me were like Orson Well Orgasmic. -

some people just can't or won't play certain ATs. one of the guys in my SG absolutely refuses to play Scrappers. I have a very difficult time playing anything other then melee class toons.

I can feel ya. I've got a character I've made and rerolled like 6 six times because I just can't figure out how best to represent him in game. One of the characters I've been using Story wise for years I finally found a good way to build him in game by using Street Justice paired with Fiery Aura. I colored the Fiery aura pink/purple to make it look more like psychic energy.
As for Mr Smiles... I can feel ya on the trouble with trollies. I share the same frustration. You should have seen my SG mates when I actually got one past level 8.
Have you considered a Mastermind? I know it's not as spot on as Illusion control but I think story wise you can make it work. Demon summoning perhaps. He's casting illusions on his targets that make them believe they are being attacked by daemons and the like. Use Time Manipulation to represent his manipulation of probabilities. -

It's not like there were a lot of female options for the video for this video. I mean there's Romulus (He's a guy), a 5th Column commander (There aren't any female models for the 5th Column!). I needed a Cimeroran General (Once again no female models of the Praefectus) I originally did have the Legionnaire be one of the female models, but it doesn't render properly until it gets a lot closer to the camera.
And then there's the Nictus. thats... um... well that can use a female voice Philly. Get recording! -
