Actually the only really 'good' (by my definition) use of Twitter I've seen is that Middle Eastern country's people using Twitter to organize the protest. I'm down with that. It's being useful. Most tweets are not useful.

I fully realize that not caring for the most part about people I don't know makes me a terrible recluse and a curmudgeon.

Annnnd? I'm fully into other social networking sites. I just don't like the nature of most tweets. So I don't use Twitter. I don't understand why people not liking twitter is such an issue with people who do use Twitter. We aren't personally attacking your tweets...just the nature of the really awful ones that make you ask over and over "And I care beeeecause....???"

Quite possibly the only reason I would consider rolling a stone tank, right there.
  5. Then consider yourself a lucky man/woman/other/robot/alien for not having run across those Twitter accounts. Cause they are out there, and darned if they don't make you cry a little inside.

So no, I don't understand the twitter hate. You decide who you follow so it is your own choice if you read about people having gas.
Er, I mentioned it's a completely fictional example. I haven't actually ever had to read about someone's gas. I was actually pressured into reading a debate about someone's choice for breakfast cereal once. Boss was posting in it, and so he'd stop bugging me about it I went ahead and skimmed the argument. Breakfast. Cereal. Do not care. Sorry?

Like I said, not everyone does that sorta posting. I get to see enough of friends of friends' twitters though that I have zero desire to follow most any Twitter feed. Most of my real life friends don't bother with Twitter and my online friends tend to talk to me through chat programs. Thus, unless I wanted to follow news feeds like P_P, I don't really see the need to find good Twitter threads/accounts/whatever they're called.

But I'm also horrid for small talk, which may feed into the 'do not care' aspect of the banality of some of the tweets I have seen posted. And for news I'll just visit actual news sites. I'm weird like that, I suppose.

Again, nothing really against Twitter, it just personally irritates me. I don't think everyone should agree with me. I mean, you guys obviously have a use for it. I just don't.

I don't hate Twitter or people who use it, per say, but I know my personal irritation towards it is that, I, for some odd reason, personally do not give a rat's *** what someone had for dinner. And then how they felt about it. And then the resulting gas from said dinner. And how they can't sleep from said gas, from said dinner. And so on, and so forth.

I realize there are people who post better things (and post less than my completely fictional example), but I don't feel like getting through the slog to get to the good stuff.

However, while I could care less about the actual farmers, it's the AE babies that worry me. I understand that Powerleveling is a method to 50, as it was advertised to be, but seriously, I'm not sure that the dev's intended people to reach that point and know little to nothing about their characters, or the game itself.
People knew nothing about the game prior to AE...in fact the percentage of people who actually knows how this game works is in the minority and always has been that way.
This is kinda true. I still make horrifying builds sometimes...mostly because I just can't care enough to make it "good".

...I also know my friends will make fun of me until my build is actually decent. I still stand by taking gratuitous Jump Kick and then using it excessively though.

Seems to be working out alright so far--good idea.
  10. Pssst, if you want to find another set with a decent -regen debuff, look at /cold. Cold dom is a really decent AV/Hero killer, and a bit more active than /rad, but less squishy than /kin (which has a -regen in its heal).

That said, tar patch has enough of a slow most AVs/Heroes tend to stay somewhat in the patch. Immobs, holds, etc, won't stack enough to keep the AV/Hero in place if the purple triangles are up. When they're down, you can. Pet gaze can be useful, but it kinda depends on personal preference. I used it on my fire/dark, but I know other people who find it a waste of a power cause of all the other control in /dark.

Tar patch is one of the key powers of /dark. You definitely want to take it regardless if you can keep a AV/Hero in it for overly long--if I remember correctly, the -res debuff, etc, is a 'sticky' debuff...it sticks for a little bit after they run out.

And also, if I recall correctly, it's the heal in the dark set that has the -regen in it. Could be completely wrong about that though...

Louisiana Purchase is definitely not really something you want to bring up for the sake of 'good country relations' considering the French got screwed five ways from Sunday for that. America is thankful for it, but we got away with highway robbery for the amount of land we got off it (1/4 of the current United States, anyone?).

France has helped us a lot (hell, they lent us soldiers in the Revolutionary War), but it isn't just the most recent disagreement that makes us rib each other. We've had a close relationship with them for the past 200 years...there has been missteps as well as helping hands.

  12. They all link to the old boards, hence 404 error. I did a really bad search for the guides (Search function: it's your friend! ), and here's Blazeblast's (the only actual dark/dark guide): One.

And it's not corrs, but here's a random dark/dark defender guide. The powers are the same, just different damage and buff/debuff rates. Two!

And two more half dark guides, just...cause. Dark/Coooooold. And screaming/darkity dark dark.

Dark/Dark is a good, solid combo. Very hard to go wrong with it. Any particular questions you have about it, or just want to look at other people's ideas?

Like Siolfir says--you really shouldn't have trouble finding people to team with. There are people looking to team, but they don't necessarily want to make the first step themselves.

In addition to global channels and global friends, something I know we've probably all run into in game...sending tells to teams already formed. Yes, it's occasionally irksome to get random tells asking to join, but more than half the time, teams really don't mind another one tagging along.

Yes, it means you'd have to go through dreaded 'effort'. And? It takes a couple seconds, tops, to send a tell. And if teams won't have you, try to grab one or two people your level range and set a mission. Ding, you has a team!

  16. Sonic blast is pretty much always survivable, so it really depends on what your playstyle is for which secondary you want.

I can't comment on /pain, never having played it myself, but my friends who do seem to like it ok.

Sonic/Cold would be a solid combination, and most likely the AV killer once it gets into its own. Only downside is /cold is slow to get really good. Upside is...once it's good, it's good. And heat loss really isn't good enough to replace stamina. Also, you get it at 38 (I think), and that's a very, very, very long time with low recharge rate. Add in the fact both sonic and cold are end happy builds....probably not a wise idea. Perhaps with an eye to +recovery in IO slotting it'd be manageable, but I don't think it'd be overly fun. But /cold as a whole is a fun, really powerful build, either solo or team.

Sonic/Kin would be a fun combination, but as justisaur said, it'll be rough til Siren's. Transference should be enough to keep you going once you get it (just slot it with a combination of acc, recharge and end mod), but you may want to pick up Stamina until then, and then respec out of Stamina once you get to 35. Sonic would be one of the more survivable kin combos, but even with siren's song and (if you want it), the stun, kin is still something of a knife's blade playing style, so it takes a bit of getting used to...

Given what you said you wanted...I'd probably recommend sonic/cold. It's a bit more balanced in terms of what it can do, and you should be able to easily kill most EBs solo with it. Sonic/kin would be fun, but a lot harder on EBs, and it can be a lot harder to solo with a kin through a couple level stretches (the 30's are harsh, if I remember correctly).

Can't really talk about IOs much, I let my friends who enjoy number crunching tweak my builds if I decide to use them.

Usually you'll want to use it for cooking things at higher temps as the removal of the white bits (milk solids) will stop the butter from browning/burning. But it does remove some of the richness in flavor.

As Bolt said about using it on the line, it has a few advantages, mainly cooking at a higher temp, but it also is much slower to go rancid.

And Yes... I am really bored. I need a new comp already to run CoH again. >.<
I'm a personal fan of clarified butter in cooking (I just never use it--huzzah pastries, and wanting things browned), I like the pure taste, and then if you cook it down to that brown butter (don't remember the fancy name), it has a great nutty taste. Yum. And if the steaks weren't already in bad shape, a marinade that starts outside of the fridge (oh noez, germs!) would be good for the clarified butter if you wanted to soak it for more than a couple hours...just random thoughts.

Ah, whatever, it all makes my inner fat kid happy. And fat.

Ok, I got one question about clarified butter...I never saw it refridgerated, since line guys would keep some near the ovens...does it actually not solidify when cold?

Yeah, minced garlic would get a strong garlick-y flavor through.

...I've heard rumors about the chow halls. You poor, poor thing.

Also, worst case, cover the steaks with gravy and caramelized onions and drink lots of beer with them. Mmmm, gravy.

And I'd also be interested in knowing any non-congealing butter type things.

Definitely going to have to go with oil, I'd recommend extra virgin in this case. When working with oil, I prefer real cloves of garlic, but powder would work ok...and I'd actually suggest using butter when searing the steaks, rather than trying to get the butter flavor in the marinade...the oil will give it a nice smooth taste (I think...).

If you have time, soak the cloves in the oil before putting it in the fridge. Nice steeped flavor.

Dunno if this helped at all--good luck with them!

    Hi Five!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like my AR/Kin too, but it is definitely not for the faint of heart (there are easier secondaries to pair with AR). You are never going to be the most survivable of kins when it's paired with AR, but it's really not THAT bad...just requires paying attention and a lot of hyperactive movement if Beanbag misses that target (I know, lolz beanbag, but it's really helpful solo or for stacking stuns on teams).
