Quote:Sometimes the look and feel ... and seeing "Tech Armor" ... is more compelling than a better performance.
But again - wouldn't straight-up forcefields as a defence set be better? You can even include energy attacks in there that don't have to be tossable forcefields, themselves. If you can form a beehive barrier, you can probably shoot it at your enemy, right?
Although I do find Force Field to be a very interesting tanker armor set idea, on par with the power armor suggestions. -
Quote:Hrm, what if it was a unique effect in that it lit up armor pieces, a-la Positron's version of Tech Wires, based on what you wear? Coding aside, there's the problem of someone not wearing any armor pieces, yet at the same time not forcing them to...
But again, that's not power armour, that's armour made out of energy, AKA Energy Aura AKA Forcefields Defence. -
Even though "Power Armor" makes you think of thick metal plating and mechas, perhaps an in-game power armor would be better suited as simply FX over the costume?
Such as the unified field for the Praetorian police, for example. Customizable auras and such. -
Sam's got a point. More uniformity in mez terminology would be so much better than flavoring-up description text. Disorient and stun are another "interchanged" mez name. Is there even a difference between "Defense to" and "Strength to" in terms of real numbers? I see those quite often as well...
I read that stuff to know what the heck I'm doing, not to be thrilled by someone's thesaurus skills! -
Eh, I'm a little uneasy about the defensive powers, especially Quickness, but at this point I'd rather see a "natural non-tech" secondary for Blasters than anything else for that same archetype...
Also, inb4Saist! -
Just played through the Bonefire arc last night. Reminded me of just how nice it is that that one little arc has all the important information on which gangs side with which.

Quote:I still kind of want to see a psychic melee.
"Energy Blade" was one of the options of that old-old pole that we picked Dual Blades, Willpower and Shield Defence from. It also had things like Electrical Hammer and Psychic Melee, but those didn't get picked.
That and a staff... -
What you are suggesting might just be a power customization option. Though, I can't remember any weapon sets being allowed to also customize their powers.
The bladed melee weapons (and shield) have energy-blade options which do not change your damage type, but are there purely for looks.
EDIT: Erm, that's not to say I'm against the idea, but it just seems like it's not as necessary as others. Although, Robotics does have three powers that could be formed into a set, whatwith its unique "Pulse Rifle" and all. -
Have they even mentioned Doctor Brainstorm ever since the first proliferation, anyways?
Quote:Welcome to City of Heroes, where you can't pick up a sword until a mad scientist nobody knows or cares about alters the very fabric of reality. Why, they needed a way to explain why my Stalker could suddenly pick up a broadsword and make use of it. -
I still laugh that, on a team, the enemy Frostfire tries to freeze in his cut-scene becomes boss-rank, so it's more as if he just ice-slaps him.
EDIT: more of a complaint about Steel Canyon than lower levels, but can the Council-5th war be less pronounced? It's making it hard to hunt Council for a mission because they're either spawning in groups of +3 or are spawning as a single soldier pinned-down by +2 Columnists, both of which are deadly and annoying. -
Quote:You know, I took one glance at the description of Stone Armor, and said "no, this character will be making actual armor by pulling rock from around him!" then wrote a backstory as such. (For those who don't know, Stone Armor says that your character changes their skin to stone.)
Or they could just stop labeling things and let players make up their own definitions. -
Quote:This.
Different starter zone for those who *want* to start as a villain and not in Mercy Trash Heap/Rescued by Arachnos.
Pre-Going Rogue, I would've suggested a villain-side copy of Galaxy City, with the premise that you are a villain starting off in back-alleys and such. Post-Going Rogue, no idea other than a completely new zone. -
You can use the mastermind third-tier pets as bosses, if memory served. They should be under Pets or somesuch. At least, Assault Bot and Lich. Unless they changed it from when it first came out or something.

Sweet costumes, guys! They say a good costume makes you want to play a character (more). Personally, I find it can even be the difference between "stuck on it for days" and "wouldn't touch it with a six-and-a-half-foot pole."
The leaf cape with the old plant pieces and the newer organic armor is probably an overused look already, but I just had to make one of my own.

I forget: is the listed fee subtracted from that total already, or do you pay that when you claim? It seems the fee would push it under the cap and make it valid, if only the game could take it before granting the inf...
Also, that was worth a good laugh, just to see that. -
Quote:The problem, then, isn't that there's no alien origin, it's that that character concept is too specific for what would normally be an acceptable level of assumptions that the game's story has to take.
Everywhere else in-game assumes a Natural Human Origin.
Rewriting the game's code just so all the text can differentiate human from not-really-human would be silly, too. You still wouldn't have equal representation for machines, fantasy creatures, magical beings, monsters, etc. -
