Thornster

The angle and pose kinda kills the easy recognition of the chibi style, but yeah bigger head, a little chubbier look ... I think they look like kids ... the Capt Quebec one referenced in the description Bloodheart's DA post shows off the style a little better.

But he does have a "cartoony" face which I really like for these commemorations.

Great colors Goat! There are alot of fun things in the Electric Lizzy image and the overall piece looks great. Good job!

When Capt Quebec hit 50 I had Alex do a Chibi for me to commemorate the event (he had had a similar commission in the week before). Anyway, I liked the idea so much that when my 2nd tank hit 50 I had him do another chibi to commemorate the event.

It has been covered but it deserves to be said yet again, that is one fabulous piece. That takes the in game design to a completely other level. Just WOW!

Great catch there and yeah ... be careful ... withdrawl isn't just for drug addicts.

I have been around for a while and am nowhere near that ... so yeah an accomplishement no matter how long it took you to get there imo.

Yeah my two main characters are not twins or clones or anything ... I went the nemesis way (like most everyone did when CoV came out, I think), but Blackthorn does have a strong Thornster flavor.

Thorns vs Spines, Dominator vs Scrapper, Insect Skin vs Rock Skin and they both have spike gloves and boots. (site is in my sig if you don't know them yet, I don't have a side by side of them ... oh ... unless this counts
)

Sorry for being a bore and going back to the 334 ... but what I find more amazing than the number is the obvious evolution over the pieces (not too sure why Juggernaut made it to your CoH gallery [unless he is considered inspiration for Juggertha]) and the different concepts you came up with over the years.

We felt the quake in Montreal too ... I was blaming it on my walking down the corridors here ... but some (not all) people told me I had nothing to do with it.

Yeah I need to find a fan of "The Thing" or something that may be willing to put some time into one for Thornster (or two if I get one for Blackthorn too) ... but just getting someone to want to do his body texture kinda right requires the right artist.

in the meantime I did update Thornster's references by trying to take into account recent discussions

Yeah with Cric's own post of this and his explanation that this is "charging" and not "explusing" ice, like I saw it, this is even a bit cooler (see what I did there ). From that point of view it really does look like the animation before the blast of bitter freeze ray.

Any way you look at it ... this is a very cool (see ... I did it again ) sketch.

Yeah I tried adding those boots and gloves to Thornster and that very smooth shiny skin under the Exoskeleton doesn't mesh well with Thorny's rocky skin. I may keep the gloves on a costume or two anyway but I don't think the boots will make the cut.

I think he was proposing to send you a large file of the image by email. One which, if printed, would look better than if you tried to print this one.

I was looking at Bayani's commission "A Thorny Situation" featuring my villain Blackthorn and I felt the urge to turn it into a desktop. Thought I would share the result (I didn't do much, the piece does most of the work)
