Using Corel Photopaint but its basically the same idea .. layers with transparencies and filters to combine the layers (multiply, screen, overlay ... )

Yeah everytime I try one of these I play around with stuff and see if I can get closer to the look the people on these boards impress me so much with.

As I said I like to nit-pik about every highlight and every shadow ... so .. takes for ever ...

Anyway ... with only gloves, neck and shoulders to highlight and shadow ... here is my progress on Invincibelle.

I didn't see it as criticism, but more as a sign that you do know his work and were paying attention.

Yeah but Juggy normally cans the outline when going to color ... so that is where the comment is coming from.

Really love the piece. Its very realistic as mentionned by others too. If I can allow myself one comment (not that I can suggest how to fix it) is that the nose does see like a profile view whereas the rest of the face is slightly turned towards us. Now I know that with the angle you picked that is basically what it will look like but I was wondering if there would be a trick or something that could be done to give us the impression that the nose is sticking out more towards us than having us see it sideways.

As I said ... just a comment and I don't know the answer. Even as it is this is a very good piece. Don't get me wrong. I was just commenting since you said you would appreciated it.

Blue's the easiest color to get rid of Digitally.

This way they layout in Blue, Pencil it in with Pencil/graphite then Ink. Pretty time intensive but it helps alot.

To me Gideon the ledge has a Disney feel but I don't see it as much in the character. I do love the twisting of the torso and the angle of the left leg ... makes for a very fun pose. I get more of a "Nightmare before Christmas" feel for the toon itself.
