Yeah there was one boss that spawned inside of a fountain's surrounding pool that I almost killed like three times before I realized that I couldn't drag him out of the pool through backing up like I usually did because he would "evade" heal to full and go back to the center of the pool.
It's a good thing I rocked or that might have killed me. -
Quote:I've disagreed with you a lot... but this isn't really one of those times, sad to say.In short, we've lost. That's the reality of the situation. Accept it or not, but that's the fact.
I hold out hope that at the VERY least a character creator based on CoH can be given out to folks... which is less messy and harder to track down even if NC tries to C&D it.
But, outside of that... well... that's why I bought The Secret World. -

Woot! I now officially have a character of each faction:
Alex "Thirty-VII" Daughtry
Brandon "Ghostnaga" Scoville
Matthew "Cursory" Crawford
As you might have guessed, Alex is my main. Currently he's Pistols/Elemental. With some tenacity, I hope to unlock all of the powers on him.
I think that's a pretty good comparison. There is plenty of stuff in the game ripped from King, and many other authors. And I also get a Pirates of the Carribean vibe from the carbuncled zombie things in the seacoast of Kingsmouth. -
Dudes... take your bickering to another thread. Please.
This one should be for helping to build community in TSW. I have gone out of my way to stop the discussion. Would be great if others could do the same. -

Glad to help.
As to your other question, I just joined an RP Cabal over there lead by an ex-CoHer... damned if I can recall the name of the group. It was for Illuminati. IIRC, a dude by the name of Krovus heads up a Templar group of CoHers as well. Also, i think there is a global chat for us, but don't know how to join it.
Oh, and the Cabals are cross-server but faction specific, so... Doesn't have to be centered on Arcadia. -
Maelstrom, Serpent Drummer (Daveyj will have to share) and Foreshadow... in that order. Or... slightly more simultaneously works too.

...is pretty much spot on.
I was going to go through and relay my impressions so far on what she quoted... but between Forbin and Bella, I guess I don't really need to.
My only further point is that being in CoH all this time really has trained me to think in certain ways in gaming in general. Slowly, I am learning to disregard a lot of those preconceived notions because they just don't transfer. Situational awareness and actively moving as effective mitigation, are things that simply weren't a big deal in CoH until Incarnate Trials really. However, both feature prominently in this game right from like the first encounter in the tutorial. -

Truth.
Even the most off-topic bile-strewn threads on the forums are of some value because of the one pillar of class in there that said it was a waste of time. ...Or when they turn into hilarious meme threads.
Our community has always been a close one, and even the ones who were the most venomous loved this game a lot. Plus, "editing" or somehow "pruning" out the so called "baggage" would fast become an issue of a slippery slope of where to draw the line. Better not to open that can of worms, m'kay? -

Quote:I had this same problem and FINALLY figured it out. Apparently, there was a forum migration at some point that initially used your account info to log in. Now... it uses something else.Oh and their damn forums won't let me register. It says my login and password isn't valid, then sends me to a screen to get them sent to my email, but then tells me my email isn't valid and to contact an Administrator, but wont let me do that because I can't log in to the forums.
Who the frak is running things over there gorram Dilbert?
SOOOO....
What you have to do, is type in a new name and password in the top two required boxes. Then, in the "old forum" boxes you type in your current account name and password. Then, when you hit submit it will allow you to log in.
Yes... it IS very backward. -
My favorite GM encounter was on my Stalker doing a Tip mission. I had cleared the whole place of Carnies and the mission objective just would NOT update to the next part. So I did like 10 more sweeps to see if I missed the one dude who would trigger the next stage, and it never happened. So, I /petitioned.
For some reason I had stepped out of the mission, and the GM had entered after me and located the last Carny that was stuck in a wall or something and asked me to invite her to my team so I could be teleported to her when I entered. So I did... and it reset the mission.
/facepalm.
So the GM was like... "Duh! How did I not think that would happen?!" So she completed the mission for me. We had some nice banter for a minute after all of that, but it was a very fun and personable encounter, even though things didn't work out as she had planned.
I can't for the life of me recall what the exact name was, but it was something obviously feminine... and I think she called it a "blonde moment."
I think that was the one and only time I actually finished one of those surveys about my experience after... extolling how fun and personable that GM was. -
Quote:Regarding power trays: I have found that it helps to not think of the trays as "not enough space for my powers" and instead as an "intentional limiting factor." Essentially, one character can eventually unlock ALL of the powers in the game. As such, it makes sense that something needs to keep characters on an equal-ish footing when there are no levels or classes. Also, the combat system seems to rely a bunch of combos or builders. Similar to what we were seeing with the newer CoH powersets like water and tidal forces. You have fewer powers that can be slotted at one time (2 trays of 7). Kinda annoying becuase you can get about 2 doz powers pretty quickly.
Once I fully adopted that view, the entire thing made way more sense and I liked it a lot more. Now, you have to look at what you put in your tray as a balancing act as you "level" up.
Also... did I just see you in game tonight? (I was on as an Illuminati named Thirty-VII... just joined a Cabal headed up by Arbiter somebody.) -

Just got tired of his nonsense so I struck back finally.
Welcome to my ignore list... which had mostly been emptied going into these final days.
I will freely admit that I shouldn't have made the post in that other thread... it was an ancient thread and an uncalled for post. However, espousing the attitude you did as a response isn't likely to illicit a more heart-felt apology.
As such... I'm not sorry. So there!
(As an aside... how OLD are you?) -
Quote:The menu is fine... it's some of the other things that are odd.I do not find it that bad, the menu options on the top right corner, have all the selection and the key shortcuts, I did rebind the tell reply to the back space key tho
You can't move around your powers unless you have the Ability Wheel open. Sometimes dialogue options will go off the screen... until you realize that moving away from the contact will shrink them! That really confused me at first. I would have never expected the Character Sheet to contain costume options... changing the gender of my character during creation necessitates I look in the upper left... which is in NO way close to any of the other customization options. Etc.
Don't get me wrong, it isn't a horrible interface, it just takes time to make sense of coming from this game. For what it's worth, I had issues making sense of the UI in SWTOR as well, and I haven't heard anyone else complain about it. -
Quote:Athletes are not overpaid...they participate in a multi billion dollar industry and posses a set of skills that very people own and that millions are willing to spend billions of dollars to watch. It makes literally no sense for someone to say that athletes make too much money because it implies that the owners for some reason don't like money and give it away to their employees instead of putting it in their pockets.Quote:PS...your other point about "telling people it isn't worth their time" somehow takes the prize in this thread for dumbest comment...quite a competition. Congrats!
You somehow completely missed the heavy irony, snark and tongue-in-cheekness oozing out of my post.
Good show! :/ -
To your credit, Forbin... the UI in the game really is hard to get used to. I hope they streamline it a bit.
