  2. A Little Sneak Preview of Chapter 3!

"There is something I need to talk to you about, Smiling Eagle." [name not revealed] said. "Yes, what is it, [name not revealed]?" Smiling Eagle replied. "We have seen your power, Smiling Eagle, we want you...to join us..." [gender not revealed] said. "Who are 'us'?" he replied.

And that is enough of a sneak preview. Don't want to spoil it for you.

All this and more in Chapter 3!
  3. Remember this?

Well, it was September '07 when I done that. I said tommorow I would do it...I forgot. Then left it to die. Silly me. Here's the next chapter.

Please note the story follows on from the last so you should read that first.

Smiling Eagle exited from the PPD Headquarters, as he had done his daily beating of the Skulls. He saw that woman again. Of course, Smiling Eagle could use this small moment in time to his advantage. He paused time just to look at her face. "It looks so...familar. I know it's someone, I just can't put my finger on it." No more waiting. It was time to get back on. He started time again. She was smiling at him. She ran away, but he remembered her face. It stuck like a hook in his head. Soon, a few seconds later, the dirty and cruel Kings Row saw a dark green sky. Strange ships flew in. Smiling Eagle knew what these were. The Rikti. They had come back for more.

He and fellow heroes in Kings Row fought the Rikti. Once again, they proved successful. One of the heroes fighting was her again. Smiling Eagle just couldn't put a name for her. 'Her' was probably not a good name to call her. He left the name as 'Anna'. That would do, until he knew her actual name.

Anna left the zone on the Yellow Line. The next train was going to Steel Canyon. He felt a need to follow her. No, he wasn't some pervert trying to catch up with a sexy woman. He just felt the need to talk to her. Like she was a friend. But she wasn't. He had only seen her three times already. He wanted to talk to her, but he felt he wasn't ready. What was he to do? He made his decision. It was time to catch up with Anna. He waited until the next train for Steel Canyon came, and boarded it.

Smiling Eagle arrived in Steel Canyon. He ran everywhere. In the blurry distance, he saw Anna's face. Clearly. He jumped over the buildings, narrowly dodged attacks by criminals, and crouched under cars to get to her. He was determined as ever. Smiling Eagle finally got to her. "Hello...Anna?" he whispered. "It's not Anna. It's Mary. Mary Ronald. My superhero name is Sharp Dart." she whispered back. "That's a cute name." he said. "I prefer to call it...deadly." she replied. Smiling Eagle was breathless. He called the name cute while she called it deadly. A vicious name. Not exactly a way to get on her good side. He was still breathless. It felt like it would never end. Then, slowly but surely, Smiling Eagle let out a word.

"I am Smiling Eagle." he said.

"That's a very...cute name." She replied. Smiling Eagle felt a little embarrased after that. It was supposted to be deadly. Wait a minute...that's what her name was supposted to be like. Sharp Dart and Smiling Eagle - that seems to be a couple. "Erm, could I go on a date with you?" he said. "Sure. We'll go to the world that never dies." she replied.

He was confused. Surely this place was somewhere he knew. Even as a hero who'd been almost everywhere, he'd never heard of that. He breathed in. Then out. "What is the world that never dies?" he whispered. A few moments passed, no reply. Then Sharp Dart breathed in. Then out. Smiling Eagle knew she was about to say something. Of course he knew. But he knew that it was going to be something beyond his understanding. Was it?

To be continued in Chapter 3! (which will be posted ASAP)

Also don't even know where the Siren's Call enterance is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's marked as a red dot on the right side wall of Steel Canyon - it's a 25+ zone, with a fun bounty system that can earn you enhancements.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Poor GG, doesn't know her zones. It's 20+. Also, the bounty system is garbage. It's a PvP zone, not a mission Jango Fett is set to do on Star Wars.

Examples of the kind of things that don't qualify are re-touching or modifying artwork created by someone else, or recording a version of a popular song with modified lyrics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Never stopped me. Hell, I'm willing to bet that last part was written ABOUT me. I want to hear you perform this. All in favour?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm actually betting GR will perform it. All in favour?
  6. [ QUOTE ]
What I am wondering here is why would my villain want to be involved? Does he dislike CoT? Sure, they are a pain. But he is not a hero, there is no profit in this Story to attract him.

    [/ QUOTE ]

After the arc in Newspaper Missions you get a 50% less chance of CoT missions appearing. That's why 'They'll know not to deal with us' again.

    [ QUOTE ]
And yes, I would like to see this arc using the Morea clan. After this mess it seems they are dealt with once and for all, hurray. Only to turn up their ugly faces later in the fathers arc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did you even read the arc? The Morea clan were not "dealt with once and for all". They didn't even appear.

    [ QUOTE ]
Ps. Young seems to be a weak willed character always talking about how great his father is. I would suggest, less father talk, more about how great he thinks himself to be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As you can see Yuong is less mean, he's not so self-proud and rather talks about his father's strength as he has done many daring things in the past (although after that he's a bit lazy).
  7. Anything to do with Power Customization: nope.
  8. Here's a little lyric remix of the Black Eyed Peas classic "Where Is The Love"...called "Where Is The Trainer!"

What's wrong with the game, Posi
People livin' like they ain't got no main toons
I think all the players not addicted to the PvP
Only attracted to things that'll bring you debt
Over in the EU, yeah, we trying to server merge
But we still in the US don't want it to happen
In the USA, the big PPD
The Hellions and The Skulls and The Outcats
But if you only have love for your own AT
Then you only leave space to nerf other ATs
And to nerf only generates flame wars
And when you flame then you're bound to get banned, yeah
Unlawfully playing is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how CoV works and operates
Man, you gotta have a hero just to get a good rep
Take control of your slots and slot in 'em
Let your buffs gravitate to the heals, y'all, y'all

    > The trainer, the trainer

It just ain't the same, no more levelling normally
New days are strange, people keep farming till they die
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there villians running about
    Arachnos droppin' explosives
    Farmed inf fillin' your inf
With the ongoin' sufferin' as the alts get scrapped early
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this MMO that we livin' in people keep on givin'
away their 30 mil IO sets
Makin' wrong decisions, only levelling via farming
Not respectin' each other, flaming each other on the forums
A flame war is goin' on but the reason's known, it's nerfs
The next issue is kept secret, it's swept under the nerfs

That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' angry

I hope you enjoyed our little dulge into the true CoX, by song.

I couldn't make it a recorded song because of this:

They can recieve e-mails, not respond to them. You're not supposted to respond to them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you can't respond to an in-game email from a GM, how are you going to answer any questions they might have? Use your peanut, boyo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They should come to you first. Asking questions through in-game e-mail would lead to lots of e-mail clutter, the GM would prefer to talk to him/her in person.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Let's just say, they NEED to change it to in-game email

[/ QUOTE ]Surely that's the point. If they did this, then a lot of problems would be solved faster (in theory), depending on time of day, yah-de-yah, yah-de-yah

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm...I'm not sure whether to call that a serious or mocking post. But I am sure that if a GM logs in, sends a e-mail, then since he's already logged on, can come help the person, can't he?

  15. LONG time since I done a TF...happy for me to do this. Put down X Phantom Level 38 (may be higher) PB
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Since GR has responded to this thread in private to me, I see no point to continue this thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not really. That is a very hated yet untalked about subject, and I'd like to hear opnions on this.

I have not petitoned for a while, I believe my last report was about a bug as well that didn't allow me to enter a mission.

The GM did not send me a e-mail till the next day.

It was very poor standard IMO.

Even with NorCal they still have to improve on Customer Support, just seems when I've ever petitoned they come about the next day...or week.

And yes, I very much agree tht the routines are stupid. Getting a Live M pop up saying 'You recieved a e-mail from GM Charles' is just not helpful, espically that you have to Alt+Tab out of the game, to check your e-mails, then you come back in-game your computer froze. Really helpful.

Let's just say, they NEED to change it to in-game email.
  17. There's a lower level version one, Yuong Dida: Yuong Dida

Also, come back when you're level 45.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    And
    [ QUOTE ]
"I said, Level 45. Wasn't that clear to you? I don't want to talk to you until then."

    [/ QUOTE ]
In my opinion when a contact just says out loud "come back at lvl something or the other" it breaks the immersion a bit.
So it would be better if she said "Come back when you are stronger. And then when you talk to her before level 45 she says something like "I said when you are stronger. Wasn't that clear to you?" and in "( )" say the level needed before you can start the next part.

    But thats just me.

Other than that semi /signed because it is at a much better level.(not fully signed for what I wrote above. What? Immersion can be important and contacts currently ingame that states a specific level just like that bothers me)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can see you have a good point there. I would edit it, but since thanks to 6 hour editing only, I can't edit it.

So let's just pretend it's there, eh?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Seeing as how its really uncommon for ppl to post base pics here thought i'd make a start with some pictures from my SG on union "Unions Heroes"

[/ QUOTE ] I want to join! honestly, ive been trying to contact you lot for about 2 weeks now lol
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Considering that 1-40 in CoV is pretty much all about Arachnos getting a handle on just how special/powerful you are and then letting you buddy up with a Patron to see what you can do, they probably would know who you are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

(sorry not making this clear in OP...again ) Sheng's apprentices aren't usually one of the Destined Ones, so Arachnos would count you as just another hopeful. Also, any reports of Arachnos seeing your costume and remebering are very unlikely, due to the point that most of them are killed before they can get to Recluse
  21. [ QUOTE ]
There's far too much CoT content in Villains in my opinion; how about swapping some things around and introducing your "Morea Clan" with this contact so they don't come out of the blue in the higher level contacts arc?

    [/ QUOTE ]

First off, I'd have to change Lili to a Morea Clan AV, which is only one, Master Morea. And Master Morea is in Sheng's arc. So that's a problem there.

Secondly, I think the whole plot of this is better suited to CoT - the Morea Clan isn't big enough to invade Sharkhead, use crystals as power hubs, and not smart enough to create portals like that.
  22. Name: Yuong Dida
    Level: 25-30
    Zone: Sharkhead Isle
    Missions: 5

If not contact: "I am smart enough to know you are not the person I want to see."

Introduction: "Why hello...I don't think I have introduced myself. I am Yuong. Yuong Dida. You know my father, Sheng? No? Ah, you will learn more about him later. Now let's begin shall we?"

    1. Destroy the Saramstia Crystal

"Look here, [villian name]. I'm less...mean than my father. Still mean though. But I can see great potential in your eyes. I've heard that you've beat up many, many people in your time. My father would just back away now, as that's not all he wants for his apprentice. But I see you have more than others I have seen. Now, to fully prove to me you harness that kind of power, you need to do something for me. You see there's this crystal called the Saramstia Crystal. It's used as a power hub for the Circle of Thorn's magic. If you destroy it, we could severly weaken the Circle of Thorns. Got that?

I'm glad you accept. This could be very...promising for both of us."

    Objectives:
    Destroy the Saramstia Crystal
    Defeat El'Nur

Entrance message: "The Saramsta Crystal isn't going to be standing for long."

    Mission Complete!

    2. Hit the Circle of Thorns while they're weak

"Turns out the Circle of Thorns can regenrate the crystal. Now, while you have the time, hit them. I would send you straight for the leaders, but things change when my father gets involved.

You see, my father gets his fair share of rewards from my work. He's going straight for the Circle of Thorns leaders himself. That means, we have to deal with their amateur henchmen. I'm going to send you to a base. Really big one. It's got hordes of the Circle of Thorns, so we can really beat 'em up.

I'm starting to take a intrest in you, bigger than I thought it would be. You handled your last mission very well. Let's hope this goes the same way."

    Objectives:
    Clear out the base

Entrance message: "Now that they're weak, the Circle of Thorns will be swift to destroy."

Effect on all Circle of Thorns: Crippled: The Circle of Thorns have been crippled by the destruction of the crystal. They lose -DMG, -END, -ACC and have 60% HP.

    Mission Complete!

    3. Assassinate Rera Viktiv

"Good work on that last mission. It's too bad my father is so pushy. OK, next up - Rera Viktiv is one of the big guys of the Circle of Thorns operating in Nerva. If we can eliminate him, we can distract other Circle of Thorns from other zones. I've got a plan in my mind which will really hit them, but it can't happen until we get the attention of the Circle of Thorns.

What are you waiting for? Get to it!"

    Objectives:
    Assasinate Rera Viktiv

Entrance message: "Rera Viktiv dies today."

    Mission Complete!

    4. Defeat all Circle of Thorns in area

"The Circle of Thorns have learned out little distrupsion and are coming into Sharkhead. Fend them off.

After this, I believe we can start the plan. Don't get killed now. You're missing out on the good part if that happens."

    Objectives:
    Clear Sharkhead

Entrance message: "The streets are now patrolled by the Circle of Thorns. Make sure that doesn't last long."

    5. Defeat Lilitu and close the portal

"Lilitu is a advisor for the Circle of Thorns. She took part in the war between Mu and Oranbega 14000 years ago. Now, what does she have to do with this? Well, she's heard you managed to beat up the little invasion force and is coming for us. Just what I planned - we can eliminate one of the big ones in the Circle of Thorns. I'm trusting you to do it. Now, that's really...it. Wait a minute, oh. There's a portal. This portal allows the Circles of Thorns to transport through the zones - they just made it, it seems. I need you to close that portal so Lilitu can't get in. If you are too late, then your hopes of pleasing me fail.

    That is all."

    Objectives:
    Defeat Lilitu
    Close the portal

Entrance message: "Lilitu has some pretty strong bodyguards."

    CUTSCENE
Lilitu: "Yuong is caught up in his little world. He cannot fight us!"
Lilitu: "...but his little apprentice wants to."

    Mission Complete!/Mission Failed!

Mission Completed: "Congratulations. You've done much, much better than I expected. Although Lilitu is still on the run, the Circle of Thorns will know not to deal with us again. I hope our little time together shows the benifets of working with me. Also, come back when you're level 45. I wish to talk to you about something."

Mission Failed: "Gah...you failed. She has got away, and you did nothing about it. Maybe you weren't what I was looking for. You were promising up until this moment. I'm not as hard-pressing as my father, though. Come back when you're level 45. I want to talk to you about something then."

If talked to after arc and not level 45: "I said, Level 45. Wasn't that clear to you? I don't want to talk to you until then."
  23. [ QUOTE ]
The first one is the tone. The contact is talking to a high level villain, not a flunky straight out of mercy. The villain has done some incredible things to get there. I get a little tired of arrogant contacts who try to prove their importance with being arrogant. Some mutual respect seems to be more fitting to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The contact has not seen his/her power yet. Also, many contacts on Villians will treat you that way. Your full potential has not been seen yet, that's why he's treating you that way.

    [ QUOTE ]
The second problem is the arc itself. In the end its a fight against very tough opponents and they come out of the blue. There is no clue whatsoever, no storyline that they are involved. The only thing is that they seem to think that the villain is a threat because he took out a few random Arachnos bases. Well at level 45 they will have taken out dozens of bases nothing special here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can see you have a pretty good point there - there is no storyline involved. But as in the last mission, this is your first (and probably last) delge into the Morea clan. Sheng didn't claim to know much about them either. He just knew that they were about, wrecking stuff. And he knew where they met. That's all he knew about them.

Also, about the "few Arachnos bases" bit, I'd like to quote from the actual arc:

    [ QUOTE ]
Black Scorpion: "I agree. He/She could become a threat to us all."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Black Scorpion says that he/she could become a threat if he/she continues down the path they're going. He/she has cleaned 3 Arachnos bases in a row, if he/she continues to do that and starts moving on to even bigger things like higher ranked Arachnos then even Recluse's lieutenants, he/she will become a threat.

    [ QUOTE ]
The third problem is repetition. Clearing out a base is boring. Doing that 3 times in a row without anything interesting happening is not a good thing in my book. I am sure that more interesting things can be thought of.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is the first time you've faced Arachnos under Sheng, also they don't know you're the crazy villian who mauled then tens of levels before. They just think you're another one of his apprentices. Would they send a AV in or anything? But just to be sure, they'll send a whole 3 bases of troops. Sheng sees your potential from here, and is more respectful than earlier, and he knows you can do it easy. Yet his personality leaves him to put his own burdens on his apprentices.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Hmm played for several hours with no crashes, the only thing I have really done differently is not to install those games or daemon tools, and I have also stuck with XP Service Pack 2 rather than upgrading to SP3... Perhaps the SP3 was actually the problem? Oh and I also haven't updated the Graphics/Sound drivers...Hmmm

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can't see how the SP would be the problem, it hasn't affected any of my games.

If any guess then it has to be the drivers. Are they Omega drivers? Or any other third party drivers?
