  1. I've already seen some of the more hardcore badgers on opposite sides. A certain fire/fire dom was on a stf, a brute was on a sister psy, a ill/emp was grabbing explore badges and one scary hedgehog was motoring around Grandville.

I am moving my badger over but he won't get there till this weekend or next week.

I couldn't agree with you more on this. I still think that well organized teams will be able to get through this in 30(ish) minutes if they do two cycles at the obelisks and two cycles on the AV. However, timing is so tight (~30 sec widow) that just a few secs will make the teams go through another 2 cycle phase.

Is this still on Slax? Can it be claimed per kill, because I know where he hides and I can replace his farmer with my fire/kin..... just saying.
  4. 1) No matter how bad, or disagreeable a person is I try, try ,try not to kick them from a team. I still managed to end up on someone's "blacklist" though...lol.

    2) I must charge heedlessly into next (necessary) mob. It just doesn't seem very super not too.

    3) If someone sends a global friend request, I feel obligated to take it. (Then when I'm up at 3am drop them from the list).

    4) If its a Masters run and people are getting snippy, I feel obligated to get into the next cut scene and stand next to the AV.

    5) I always go to the same WW/BM person, I don't know why, I just feel they understand me and we have a bond now.

I think Endlessly hit the nail on the head.
  6. Shadowly Presence is very useful if you are fighting T-Rex.

Also, on a serious note, I can see using it if you are waiting for toggles/powers to recharge and use only SS to stealth maps.
  7. There were at least 10 Vanguard Heavies. I had 4-Bio nuke buffs at the end of it all and I think there were 1 or 2 Chems that got dropped.

Heavies put out amazing damage when buffed with Bio nukes.

Also stopping at the door to group buff rather then just charging and splitting into three groups helped with surviving the alpha of the mobs.
  8. They were random, I got Monument of Iron:
    Stun/Hold/Sleep/Immob Protection +1
    Stun/Hold/Immob Resist 33%
Sleep Resist (help text says 75%) clicking on the icon in my buff tray says 42.86%

Someone else got The True Furnance- no ideas what the buffs were from it.
  9. We did a follow up raid that was completed in 18 minutes. I think the key points (as MP stated) was:

3 Team Leaders were on Vent- It helped to coordinate when to take the obelisks.
    2 'shielders' per team- FF/Colds.
Lots of debuffers (again here is where colds are nice).
Tanks that are WP/stone(maybe shield)- we ended up with 4 tanks all WP iirc.
Scrappers are great as damage dealers because they have mez protection.

As far as nukes/shivans/Heavies- When all was said and done only 4 bio-nukes were dropped and 1 or 2 chems. We did have a lot of Vanugard Heavies out, I counted at least 10 when we were done, and a few shivans shuffling around.

We dropped pets(most of us) then stacked team aura buffs at the door (RAs/AM) then split into 3 groups once the shields were down we converged on Ru' and spawned the rest of the pets and dropped 3 Bio nukes and the chem(s). We were not able to get him the 1st go around so we cleared the cubes again and the second time we converged we dropped 1 bio nuke and he was finished off rather fast.

18 minutes- 2 badges, 6 merits and a temp power.
  10. Finally, had a Saturday where I was home and had time to run a VFN. I had a lot of fun but man was I rusty. Had a few new players show up, which is always an awesome thing.

I'm not sure about next weekend, and the weekend after that I will be out of town so it might be 3 weeks before VFN returns but I am hoping to make that one a Tourny type of event rather then just a normal fight night.

Hope to see you all there!
  11. A lot of people use Micros for pvp builds. I still use a few hami's on most of my builds, their enhancement values are pretty nice.

3 Membranes in Mindlink = awesome.

    Gratz on the sell Hamster.
  12. I heard they were blocking trouble makers from the game... oddly I'm in just fine.
  13. Great run, thanks for setting it up P.

    Car Troubles!

See you when you get back man, I appreciate all the support you have shown for VFN and other events on Victory.
  15. Hmm, yeah when I was in PvPEC we ran a Gimp PvP event. I will try to dig up the rules and postings.

Great question Flux, I actually have been meaning to post something along these lines but haven't gotten around to it yet (stupid RL). Instead of talking about what ATs make up a typical PvP team, lets talk about the different roles on a PvP team:

Damage-Typically Blasters and Stalkers. Their role is to spike targets, they need to be able to tab through various targets and "lock" on a common target then attack in a coordinated fashion to "spike" a target. The goal is to have as much damage coming in a single packet so that the target can not heal/evade/receive heals/phase/hibernate.

Buffs-The most commonly found is Empathy. Empaths (which Psoma covered very nicely) typically are on a team to pass Clear Minds around so that everyone can see stealthed targets, as well heal the spike targets.

Debuffs- Typically Rads (some times sonic and colds)- their job is either increase the effectiveness of a spike (by decreasing the targets resistance).

Disruption- There are many different types of disruption and different types of ATs that disrupt on a PvP team. Brutes/Tanks can act as taunt bots, their goal is to remove one player from the opposing team from the match. They do so by perma taunting (and webnading if brute) so that the target can not lock and participate with spikes. Other power sets that work well as disruption include: Gravity, Cold, Mind, Force Field,Trick Arrow, Storms. Even MM's could be classified as Disruption by summoning multiple pets it makes it more difficult for a team to lock on a target that is hiding in the masses of pets.

Strategies- well if you boil it all down, the goal is simply to kill more then you die. If you can out lock and spike your opponents then you may bring 6 blasters 2 emps. If you have 2 really good stalkers on your team you may try to set up Assassin Strikes by bringing in something that can immob/hold/stun a target for a few seconds. If you know the team you are facing is relying on stalkers you might want to bring a fortunata who with double tactics +perception IO can see a stalker in hide. There are so many different strategies it would be very difficult to list everything that people do or run, but maybe in further posting we can cover some of the teams that have been successful.

Team Size- Well the league that just finished had 2 team sizes: 8v8 and 6v6. There are some other league/events like Pinn Cup which I believe are 2v2. Strategies with team sizes are very important as well because if your team is only 2v2 you can't have damage/buff/debuff/disruption.... or can you... You could play 2 sonic/pain doms, both of you buff each other, heal each other, debuff via sonic attacks, damage via sonic attacks and disrupt using stun attacks to set up more powerful spikes.

Anyway, I will try to work on getting some people to post 'lectures' about the different roles.
  17. I've run random lvl events before, it is certainly do-able. Typicially I just write the different level on note cards then shuffle and draw what level the match will be held at.

I wish there was a capture the flag type of match for arena. I agree that trying to get people to work together as a team in pvp is something we can work towards. Lets brain storm some ideas and see what we can come up with.
  18. Yeah it was a fun VFN. Anyone have suggestions for how we set up rounds?

Flux suggested a gladiator round, but honestly, it sounds fun but everytime I've done gladiators its really bad.
  19. Yep VFN is on for this weekend.

The format will be as follows:

1st match: Teams, Super Heavy Weight Class(SHW), travel supression(TS) and heal decay(HD) will be off.

2nd match: Free for all(FFA), SHW, TS and HD off.

3rd match: LvL 5 FFA, no travel powers.

4th match: Teams, mid level, HD and TS off.

5th match: Teams, mid level, HD and TS off. Teams, SHW, HD/TS and diminishing returns (DR)off.

If there is still interest at this point we will run a 6th match which will be put to a player vote:

    a) Melee madness- Tanks/brutes/scrappers/banes/Crabs/NW/Forts. Sorry no stalkers.

    or

    b) Fite klub- office map, no travel powers, no insp. (Lots of lolz).
  20. Just wanted to spread the good news. MMP and FMP just got engaged.
So, a huge congratz to you both, and I know I am not alone in wishing you the best of everything.

  22. VFN for May 22nd will be canceled. I won't be able to be on the game tonight. If anyone wants to host that would be awesome, otherwise, I would suggest heading to Warburg and just broadcasting from there and see who shows up.
