I remember a certain dark defenderr player sending me a tell about reporting me for copyright violation because I made a toon named HALO.
My toon didn't have anything to do with the halo game. My toon's name was Halo, her secret ID was Angela Winger. She was an angelic-themed character. I've never even played the Halo game. I couldn't tell ya the first thing about it...other than I am pretty sure it was a FPS.
So I deleted the toon, but I've NEVER, EVER forgotten that player did that to me, nor have I forgiven them. Forever, in my book, they are jerks. That character was originally a champions character I made back in 1989, way before the Halo game came out.
I might re-make the toon some day...but, heck, it wasn't all that great a champions character to begin with.
But as a rule, I NEVER, EVER report ANYONE for potential copyright infringement. Why? Because it doesn't give me xp or insp or IOs or influence. I have better things to do in-game than inspecting other players toons. I'm not a rat, I don't rat out people.
So, if you have had a toon generiched...believe me...it was NOT me that turned you in...I'm not a rat!

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. This person would likely have petitioned you, and then come on here and talked about it in some thread how they found you and reported you, so they could get E-high fives and back pats from the group.
And of course I know not all of you self appointed cops are like this, but for every rule breaker, there's someone like this out there, trust me. -

My first level 50 levelled at Back Alley Brawler exclusively. Since then I usually go to whoever is closest.
But Ravenstorm is likely the least used given his location, although I just used him last night to train.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would have said Back Alley Brawler is the least popular, just because it seems like low level people mainly just go to Atlas by default.
It looks like it gets pretty lonely around War Witch in Croatoa or Ravenstorm in Striga. -

One can have sympathy for the creator of a "Thor" who looked nothing like the Marvel hero but rather had red hair and a beard, as in the classic mythologic tales. Reasonable minds can differ there. But the guy in the OP is a clearly out of line. The Generic Sixteen Tons is gonna drop on him, no doubt.

That's part of my problem with this, I think there are a lot of [censored] eager beavers on here so anxious to "protect the community" that they go overboard on things.
Marvel no more holds a copyright on the name Thor, Dracula, or Aries than I do. -
Just last weekend I saw a very well done Wonder Woman clone. Named Diana the Amazon or some such.
I don't petition generally. There are plenty of tattletales that already will. I figure it just clogs the GM's inbox. -

I admire your tenacity, The_Dude73. I'm still trying to hold the line on comma splices. It's hard, though.

this of course begs the question who are all the heroes on the loading screen?
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually it raises the question. Begging the question is using a logical fallacy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if anyone would recognize a logical fallacy it would be the guy with a Cobra operative as an avatar.
[/ QUOTE ]
You didn't use a logical fallacy, I'm just saying that's what begging the question is.
It's when a point to be proved is assumed in the explanation or the premise.
For instance, if I were to say, "City of Heroes is the most popular side of COX because everyone plays heroes." that's begging the question.
Sorry to go off on a tangent but people misusing phrases like that is a bit of an irritant for me. -

I've had an easier time getting teams together to fight GMs on redside. At least in Cap and Sharkhead.
Sending out a "Deathsurge is up" or a "Scrapyard is at _______" gets some people running to pile in on the action. At least in my experience. And this was on Pinnacle. -

On my 41 tank, join a PuG of 40-ish. Ranging from 38-41. It's an train mish, you know...the one where you go to a train station and one of your options is the active mission? An outdoor instanced? OK...
39 Warshade joins the team. Usual banter begins, "Hi, how are you? Good, you?" blah blah blah...
Four of us, out of 5, are in the mission. Waiting on the last. I start going through team members, what powers, etc... I check the Warshade, expand the team window so I could see where he was and what was taking so long..he's in Oroborus. OOOOOooooK.
I ask, "What up yo?!" OK, that wasn't verbatim, but you get the jist. He then asks..."How do I get to that mission?"
O.o
Um...I kindly reply (as do two others) that you need to go...yada yada yada...I then mention that I think you can actually get here via the Orobous portal, when you leave Oroborus. He tells us, "Nope, not an option." We tell him to go to Talos or FF since the train station is really close to the Oroborus drop off point. He goes to FF.
At which point the lv 40 team lead, a blaster, asks "What's Oroborus?"
O.o
Um...OoooooK! I tell him, "Well, since sparky is taking a while...here I'll show you."
I drop the portal...we enter. I fly up to show him where the badge is, explain it (no vet badges), and go back to the Oroborus exit...and Lo and Behold! There it is...the option to enter his mission is there. Just as we click it the lost Warshade zones back into Oroborus.
O.o *quiver*
We go back into the mission...I then tell, sternly and fatherly, the Warshade that the option to get into the mission is indeed in the Oroborus exit menu.
All we get is, "Oh".
/em sigh

I am not sure on game mechanics, but I may have one possible answer as to why the WS couldn't see the mission (I assume you mean it was a Board Train mission). What if he had the window open before he joined the team?
Does anyone know if it will add the train mission option it the list of travel destinations?
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps I should fully explain: The Warshade player when to FF, to the train and couldn't find the mission. Then went back to Orobous so that is a moot point, I apologize for not specifying earlier.

I'll do you one better.
I actually saw a Peacebringer in Steel Canyon asking how to get to Talos. We were standing next to the yellow line train, and I told him to take the green line train. He asked what that was.
He had no idea that the one train in Steel and Skyway was for lower level zones, and one was for higher level zones.
And, here's the best part, this was before AE. -
MA Babies (lots of MA badges, no vet badges) have causes a massive influx of this sort of thing. I try to be patient and instruct them in case they really don't know better, and often times they appreciate the friendly advice.
The last time I got really ticked, however, was in getting invited to an MA team. The difficulty really was too high for the crew assembled, and one person quit after a faceplant. The team leader just yells, "g2g, see ya!" leaving the rest of us in there. Sure enough, we start hemmoraging players till there are only about three of us left.
We end up calling it and go back to the AE area, and the same team leader that bailed on us is there hanging out. As I'm making a note on him to never again team with this clown, he runs up and sends me a tell asking if I'd like to join his SG.

The first two posts in this thread are so full of correct that it hurts.

I just wanted to be the first to make this ridiculous thread.

I'd like to see a buckler added to the shield sets.
I'm a little bit of an enthusiast toward medieval and renaissance martial arts. The Dual Blades set allows for the sword and dagger combination, I was hoping that the shield sets would have a buckler type of shield so I could do that one also. -
I can see where you might get impatient about it, but this really is the first and only MMORPG I've ever played, so I try not to be sensitive about it and I'm open to being corrected.
I will say that when I first started this game, my experience with PUGs was terrible and I more or less soloed my way up the first few levels. Since my characters were high enough level to get into the Hollows, I've really lucked out and made into some good ones, although I do still get the occassional group of nimrods.
More often than not, at least 1 or 2 people on the more successful groups I've been on have been around the block once or twice and are just working on newer characters they've created.
BTW, I know this is OT for this thread, but what's the purpose of badges? Do they do anything special or do people just get them just because? -
Just a suggestion, but if someone is doing something boneheaded in your group, let them know.
I just started playing this game a couple months ago, and I'm on a learning curve. I'd rather someone go ahead and correct me then continue looking like an idiot.
