Oooo...that means Team Kentucky was almost as big as Team Texas! Missed it by one! Maybe if Floorman, Scimi and I drink enough, we can double our numbers!

Quote:I'm sure she would have given him a place to bed down for the nightI didn't find out 'till this thread that he was in the car Friday night. It's probably a good thing I found out after the fact...had I found out during the con, TA woulda wished the cougar had gotten him instead.

Once, in the faraway land of DoubleTree, the lords and ladies of NCSoft gathered to them the friends of their realm, and it was good. There they discussed the future of their realm, and made merry with the good folks who had supported them for so long. It appeared that nothing could dampen the spirits of the revelers, nor would they find any reason for distress.
But the revelers were not the only ones in the land of DoubleTree that day, and a powerful evil force lived within its borders, in a place known as The Night Club. This evil was only known as "The Cougar," and she preyed upon the gamers of HeroCon with a hunger that could not be sated.
One such gamer was known as K Nut, and he was possessed of a kind spirit and a polite manner. So when he first encountered The Cougar, he said kind words so as not to offend her, and then went on his way to meet with his fellow revelers. He thought nothing more of the incident, and went on to enjoy himself with his friends, believing nothing would ever come of his encounter.
Sadly, that was not to be. While K Nut was sharing drinks and stories with his friends, The Cougar emerged from her den in The Night Club, dragging behind her her most recent prey. But her encounter with K Nut was not forgotten, as she loudly proclaimed, "I thought you were gonna warm up the dance floor for me!"
K Nut, stunned, could only stutter and attempt to reply, "I was going to, but it was too expensive to get in!"
The Cougar would not allow for such excuses, or even a full sentence from K Nut, however. Before he could finish his statement, she shouted, "I thought you were gonna warm up the dance floor for me! But that's OK...I found me another man!" and pointed to the prey standing a respectful distance away from the spectacle. For his part, the prey looked less than comfortable with the attention being drawn to his choice of companionship for the evening. "Isn't that right?" The Cougar asked her prey.
"Uh, yeah..." stammered the prey.
The Cougar continued to rant, and K Nut struggled to figure out a way to resolve the encounter. Being a polite soul, his instincts told him to apologize. And so, he looked at The Cougar and began, "I'm sorry, ma'am..."
"WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?!?" exclaimed The Cougar.
"I'm sorry, ma'am," repeated K Nut.
At this point, a few of K Nuts friends realized that they were receiving calls to nature that they really should not put off any longer, while others were attempting to maintain their composures so as not to laugh, fall out of their chairs, or in some other way draw the attention of The Cougar.
For her part, The Cougar may not have noticed, for her ire was leveled squarely upon the head of poor K Nut, and she was ranting so swiftly, that some witnesses were not entirely sure she was speaking English anymore. The tirade was merciless, and as a result, K Nut shrank over a foot that day.
The moral of this story is two-fold. First, while it is well and good to be polite, never encourage a Cougar with kind words. And second, never call a Cougar "ma'am."

Although that last part I suppose I shouldn't be too terribly upset about
I wish I had had more time to spend with you guys...I was pretty focused on doing some networking and getting advice while I was there, so Vorac was the only one that I saw with any regularity, as we ran into each other a lot on the balcony. That, and I had to thank him for my brother for a movie recommendation last year (King of Kong). -
Was it just me, or was that guy not entirely pleased that she drew attention to the fact he was going home with her?

What did I Learn? Hmmm...
Meg licks like a girl...
Karo is awesome for putting on make-up...
Getting lost isn't so bad when the car is full of win...
Surprisingly, stealing someone's water won't get you hit...
If I ever want to stop drinking, I just need to find a bad KJ...
To elaborate on one of TA's points, when a cougar is called ma'am, she becomes very agitated...
I may come up with more too -
Sithed! Agreement leads to the dark side!

Quote:I'll post my photos...I promise! I just have to get the time in my schedule!I fully second these:
And add a few of my own:
Getting to Justice dinner in time to see everyone even though the traffic of three cities was against us!
At the Praetoria sneak peek, listening to the crowd go "aaawww" and "yeaaaah" as the graphics were rolled back and forth.
Posi in his cape. I know he did it last year. I just love that cape.
The beer-pitcher sized dispenser of syrup at Holders (yes i have pictures, yes it did happen)
The hero and villain light up pens that Scimi and I dueled with the whole day...
Getting to see dual pistols in action at the sneak peek.
The Utopia at What Price panel, where the devs thanked Emporer Cole for the water, filled with electrolytes. The whole way they played to the idea that there was only certain things they had permission to say about the government was priceless.
The return of Samuraiko's brownies, the gather for AM table, and the attention it got from non-con goers.
Trying to get a picture of the Justice tables at dinner and realizing ALL the justice folks but me were in line for food.
Being on "team TJ" in the bar during the live event. That was Team Barfly!
Getting a picture with Goober in costume.
Frog stealing someone's drink as he walked up to the stage for the costume contest. I cannot be held responsible for the actions of Evil Frog!
All the jokes people were making during the attempt to get the con picture. I KNOW I wasn't the only one lagging!
Thinking I had said goodbye to everyone only to find that everyone I said goodbye to I would see four hours later at dinner. You should have been at the airport Monday morning
Listening to Scimi on the phone on the way to the restaurant, and after hearing the enthusiastic and energetic greeting he got, going "are you talking to Meg?" only to find out he was!
All in all it was a great time, and over too soon! I was so happy to see folks again, and meet new people too. I miss you folks already, but hope to see you all at hero-con 2010!
Our photos should be up shortly, will post here when I have them. -
Spyder, Spyder, burning bright
In the forest of the night
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
Sorry I'm late...getting caught up after the trip takes a while! Happy birthday! -
-
Well, gang...I'm off to Cincy to stay with a friend tonight, then tomorrow I catch my flight to San Jose! Take care, people, and I look forward to seeing some of you again
-
Even before that, it's sounding like a lot of folks want to give the live mission a miss and just hang out...which I'm cool with too

Quote:I want to see you there, TJ, but I want you healthy, too! Don't take any chances, man, and get well soon!I'll post this here, since I'm sure most of the HC attendees will see it.
I DO plan to be at HeroCon, and DO plan to partake of the festivities as much as possible.
However....
Friday I was admitted to the local hospital for tests, and sent to the hospital 30 miles away for surgery as soon as they had test results they could confirm.
Several large gall stones were removed as well as my gall bladder. I just got home Tuesday evening from the hospital and MY plan it to attend, but I may not have the final say. The surgeon really doesn't want me going since it's a flight and I'll still have a bit of hardware to deal with. Also, he's a putz, but he was the one on call.
My sister is planning to drive me to Austin to catch the flight and then pick me up Monday, so that is covered. But my doctor's appointment isn't until Thursday afternoon so it will be a bit late to try to change plans by then.
I may have to back out of strenuous stuff like the Live Mission Event but I really want to have time to visit with my friends on Justice, so I'll be doing whatever is needed to make the big gatherings. This will likely cut me out of things like the trip to the Tech Museum and any other side trips, but it's more important for me to visit with my friends than any of the other stuff.
As I say though, it isn't my final decision as to whether I can go, but I do hope to be there as I've been looking forward to seeing you all again. I'll post Thursday night to let you know what I find out. -
I just got off the phone with them, and they're setting aside a table of ten and a table of sixteen for us, so we're all set! I told them to expect us between 7:45 and 8 am.

Personally, I've always enjoyed the challenge of making a toon that does things in a manner that it's not really supposed to. Of course, this DOES involve some min/maxing, but the results tend to be a bit different then you're used to. I think my favorites are Mister Frog (Ice/Dev, plays a bit like a Dom), and Microcondutor (elec/dark stalker built to farm).
Of course, the biggest problem with my interest is, once I've achieved the desired effect, I find myself looking for a new project -
I know that feeling...I think my hairline is trying to imitate the setting sun

This is a lot like my plans...tomorrow after work, I'll be making a drive to Cincy so that a friend can take me to the airport Thursday morning.
