  1. I have played on and off for 4 years in aug, and I have mixed feelings about the trial accounts, I fully understand the why on most of those limitations, but it makes us closer to WoW and thats a bad thing.
    I think the SG limitation wouldn't be necessary if people didn't blind invite to their sg, we are typically careful about who we invite and so haven't had an issue about people exploiting our generosity, so I am basically opposed that one.
    the main problem with limiting tell's is that, say for example you send your friend a trial account, (s)he makes a toon. nether of you have any idea what name they will get but you know the ones on your main account. so the logical way to go about this, is to tell your friend what toon you have on and have them give you a /t when they get into/thru the tutorial. so now the only way to talk your friend thru this is to have them on the phone or something, & with long distance charges that can add up...
    just thought of another example, I saw someone asking something in help so instead of responding with detailed help in the help channel so everyone had to see it i sent him /tell's also so it would be easier to see his responses and for him to ask other questions. but apparently he was on trial so could only talk in the help channel, i had forgotten about it and just thought he was being rude not replying.

    WoW has had most of these limitations as well for a long time, a friend at work talked me into trying it out, so i was on a trial and even with the ability to /reply to a /tell it was quite difficult to talk to him and I never got to group with him. They made it so difficult to play i wouldn't have gotten into it even if I wasn't burnt on the fantasy MMO's already and spoiled by the trav powers.
    I think if they are going to limit the lvls then maybe 20 would be better, let them at least get a cape. a better way to limit the problem would be to not let them use the consignment houses/black market combined with the money limitation (50k is a bit low, but whatever, really any limit under a mil is about the same). but then with the money limitation the use of the WW/BM is severally limited so that should help either way.

    I am not upset that they implemented these limitations, but i am upset that they had to {%$#^ing spammers}, it was one of the many things that made this game that much better than the rest.

    and to the guy who said "thats what ignore is for" the problem with that is that they make dozens of toons on dozens of accounts, so no matter how many you ignore (even globally) they just make new ones. unfortunately the only way to correct the problem was with a global fix.


    I too was hoping the hover speed on the PB/WS was intentional. I only hope they either have a void-like component for VEATs or they take them out of the HEATs lives, its pretty crazy. every time i bring mine in i get 1-2 shotted by one and i remember why i don't play that toon, at least not above rugged =/ a purple void just aint 'doable' for me yet, when even a white one is trouble. My WP/DB tank is way more epic (read Uber) then my pb. even if I didn't get a trav power at lvl 1


    oh and i didnt see anything about fixing the 'hole' in the shoreline in cimorea, where you can 'swim' under the sand... easy to get back out but if i was running away i might have been in trouble lol

    otherwise good patch, a lot of stuff that needed to be done even if most of it dosen't affect me personally lol except the dual blades timer fix... i can't complain about it being set the way it should be i guess

I just want to say if they keep the villain epic's the way it is it's total bs, to make a hero epic you need a 50 anywhere on the account, but to make a villain epic you have to have a 50 villain. so someone with a 50 villain can make either but a 50 hero can only make a khel.... seems thoughtless to me
  3. i really dont want to continue this, but there is no such thing as a fair fight, irl or in a game. someone always has some advantage, either they are stronger, bigger, faster, whatever. the issue isnt so much about a "fair fight" as it is (un)common courtesy. a guy drops his sword you either say you won and end it there or you let him get his sword and pick up where u left off. you don't go jump him when he gets rolled out of the hospital in the wheelchair. lol even comic book villains have the courtesy to wax poetic while the hero gets his **** together

    stupid off topic bs aside, I can't wait for this to go to open beta!!!!!!!!!!!!! already planned out at least one more alt with the new set, and have ideas for restarting a few others to make them fit my ideas better, the willpower fits my ideas for a few alot better than SR or regen
    what i have seen so far it looks way better than I would have ever expected, i wasn't excited about it at first, but they seem to have done it really well, but i cant wait to try it
    and some of the new female hair styles are great, reminds me i need to look ans see if there are new ones for male too, so l8r...

    1) less fx, = less lag for people with slower systems.
    2) the fx are not always the look (or color) you want on your toon, for example you dont think batman wants to glow, you wouldn't want wolverine glowing green, i have gone to alot of trouble to design a costume then to have it kinda messed up by some clashing color in his/her 2ndary toggles (i hate green). my question back to you is do you need a glowing aura to see your toggle is on? the spinning circle isnt enough?
    I take powers because of the effectiveness of the set (or how well it matches the concept i have for the toon) not because of how shiny it is. until we can customize the auras I would rather do with out most of the time. but we all have our preferences.
    not that i mind ones for activation but the continuing aura is over done over all i think

    i9 came close but i dont think i have ever looked forward to an expansion as much as this one before on any mmo i have played. i can't wait for open beta!!!!

    PvP was just one more reason to nerf us, (trav powers) so i hate that it is there at all, so dont care if a set is good for it or not lol still wish that nerf was only there in those zones, whole point of SS is to run up smack someone and run away before they can react, but hey no use crying over it now

    i wasn't saying the tech was remotely the same, but having options based on your power set does lead the way. its a step in the right direction, thats all i am saying, and if the game lives long enough I am sure it will become a reality, may not be anytime soon... but it's coming

    you guys are not looking at the big picture, what you have to see the door opening, they can only do so much but this opens the door and will make the next step in that trick work out more smoothly. it is one step toward every power being customizable, you can't get to the moon the first step outside.
    customizing each effect of each attk/def of each power set is just a weeeeeeeeeee bit more difficult than a few new models for a few weapons. but it is the beginning of something wonderful!
    it is better to put it in a bit at a time like this because even in the open beta testing far less combinations of things come up, only when something goes 'live' will all of the issues 'come out' and the true feed back about it.
    I have been waiting on this for 3 years, i am ready for what little i can get on it. and be D@mn glad to get it! sure i would love to make purple flames or whatever but i am thrilled that every broadsword or mace guy dosen't have to whip out the same fantasy style weapon. not every hero's claws are wolverine's and not every villain has strap on claws. it's a real good start ;D n i am thrilled.

    as far as is goes tho I am and will always be an alt-O-holic
    I just love designing toons and this games give us the best char creator there is basically.

    ya the cut scenes are usually lame, no need to watch them more than once at most. they should just put out a download so we can watch them at our leisure
    I dont know about anyone else but the ssssssnake reference reminding me of one of the times I was in the middle of a fight and the cut scene went off, so ya making them optional would be a good plan.

    speaking of the options for the flashbacks, or really just options for missions in general, i would like to see 2 settings instead of the one we have now, one for the difficulty of the npc's and another one for the # in the groups. to give us a bit more control over the way our missions go. depending on your toons set up you may prefer small groups to one on one fights with tougher mobs or you may prefer large groups of easy mobs cause your a blaster with lots of aoes so you get more xp that way. so you basically have a range of fighting just one or 2 really easy guys to huge groups of purples depending on your set up.


    as for the aracnos mace i can see them putting it in for the mace but just not have it shoot. i mean these are skins for the weapon, you wont get any new abilities from a skin.

    Dragoon Dagger in EQ was one used by the dragoons (or dark elf guards) but odds are it will be something similar. keeping in mind that a dagger in fantasy games run in the 6-18" range or so.

    hockey stick katana.... lol I love it!

    machette would be under dual blades if it's there, too small a hilt to be wielded with both hands for the katana animations.

    also on the stone tank powerset both of the stone 'maces' it calls forth are different from each other. other than eventualy being able to colorize them for the type of earth your guys uses, well maybe other shapes but they would have to all be made to look stony.

    I would love to see more hair options with the hats too, as well as more options for long hair on guys, we have really only one option for long hair, to me the 'long' option is medium, it barely touches the shoulders lol so the only one that is long is the ponytail, oh and the topknot now, but still that is a costume piece i would love to see, being a long haired male myself. even just a few of the female ones tweeked a bit to fall right on the frame. (that is not a complaint just pointing out an observation.) but then I would also love to see the day when the hair moves like the capes and so on =D

    as far as brutes and regen goes, think on this, when you think of the char Sabertooth, which comes to mind, a gimped out stalker or a Brute? he might stalk, but he has fought woulvie for days and dosen't tire out like our poor stalker cousins
    I would like to see a lot of opening up in that way, i would even go as far as to give empathy to corrupters, just because you are a "villain" dosen't mean you can't feel for your fellows so to speak lol

    point is not all "villains" see them selves as the "bad guy" just because they break the law they do it because they want to help people, robbin hood would be a villain depending on how you look at it.

    Every power should have a set because otherwise some people have many power they cant put sets into and they miss out on have the same # of set bonuses as other toons, I would even like to see something worked out for powers like health but would require a bit of rethinking or more unique ones like the +regen +end recov kind of thing but that would still have us useing the basic ones to keep the % of the power up there too.

    [/ QUOTE ] correct you would have to pick a dif one for each costume and then change costumes for each attack for that to work at the current level of tech involved but who knows maybe one day soon, and then you can wait for the animations of switching weapons between each attack instead of just when you use an unrelated power. i.e. claws guy uses reconstruction then has to snickt his claws back out to fight more. but oh the dmg i could do if i could do the sands of mu with my claws out..... lol

    seriously, exactly how many sg base can fit into one city? i mean you have different dimensions (i.e. servers) but still, there are alot some should be in other places too maybe yours is in a pocket dimension i don't know! lol

    going back to the tutorial is a no go according to posi (or some other red name i cant remember who exactly) atm, that dose not mean it wont be put in later tho, it could happen...

    the face maker in the sims was wonderful for that, although out of the box that was the only good thing about the char creator (for designing the look of the toon) body type wise tho is lacked terribly, well actually it lacked quite well but ...as far as delivering you had to wait for fans to make stuff

    I would also like to see more variation in the mission zones decor and more types of critters to fight, we got the artimis warriors or whatever but you just dont see them I think i got one mission with them and then they were gone. hopefully the time travel options will open up alot of options for that if not this time then soon.

    the epic at unlocked message is because if you have both games and you hit 50 on villains then you still have unlocked the hero EAT's

    I have been hoping to "switch sides" from the moment i heard about CoV coming out, but i will keep hoping...

  8. there are just so many ways the flashback thing could work, and ways it could be explained..
    from you reminiscing about the 'old days' to going back in time in a parallel time line where things went wrong and you going to 'fix' it.
    there are just so many possibilities my mind is reeling but there is no way they could implement any where close to the number of ways this could be used right off the bat anyway. but in the mmo's there is always room for improvement. problem is getting everyone to agree on what is indeed an improvement

    but to do it right they would have to have the hand animation dif open hand at least instead of a fist as is now, if not the spread fingers claw like position used in most of those cases

    oh and on the exemp set bonus as it is right now going back before io's or not, you get exemp'd, you lose set bonuses, so again i assume that would still hold true unless you are going back to an event that didnt matter what lvl you were

  9. Weapon customization - Woot! been hoping for that since day 1

    more options are always good and like other said its a start and there is only one way to go from there.

    Flashbacks - exciting, the things that came to mind when I read it that has not been mentioned was going back in time to not just missions you missed like finishing so-in-so's story arc but going back in time to events like reliving one of the rikti invasions or the winter event, or the Halloween one etc...
    to get the badges (or costume options) or whatever you missed with a certain toon.

    they even made me almost want to try willpower (one i was not excited about) i voted for street fighting but i didnt want just bar room brawling but something more like the game streetfighter, where you have punches, kicks and stuff but also a ranged attk (throw a fireball or whatever lol) but that would also need some power customization so maybe one day soon the options will be there for that.

    jousting is only a 'problem' in pvp so should have only been 'fixed' in those areas. the rest should not have to suffer.

    like i said new options are always good so great work i am very excited about this issue =D

    I can't wait to see the options and what the powers in the power sets do and the new costume options (cant have new issue w/o costume options )
  10. I have to disagreee with that, without a movement power and only 15 min to do it... and with the bank and the jail being on opposite sides on the map. Every moment counts, I have gotten booted in the middle of the final fight more than half of the times i have tried sence they lowered the time from 20 min to 15.
  11. well i didn't mean 1 for 1 exactly, but i am sure they have a covertion for it to get the prestige that you do get, so they could just give you the credit for the badge for what you should have gotten in inf. had you not been in SG mode.
    point is they should give credit for what you gave up for the good of the group. If i earn $10 and then pay it in dues to a union for example you can bet your @$$ i'm still gonna get taxed on it, same principal, you may havent givin it up but by joe, you earned it, lol
  12. I think the best way to solve the infamy/influance vs. SG/VG prestiege or whatever passes for it in CoV, would be when you are in SG mode what you earn for your group counts tward your badge then everything works out the same way it has been.

    altho i think earning a badge for debt should be a bad thing, sure deaths are sometimes unavoidable and yes you die alot more due to bad team members then solo. but anyway you look at it, its something to avoid. and yes, i have toons who have yet to die, kind of what i strive for. most of them have never grouped.
    even in comic books where people come back from the dead all the time, it's still generaly best avoided.

    for that mater, the last thing it should be called is debtless, indebted is more like it =)
  13. the hero herself is based on what zone you are in, the level of the hero is based on, well last we heard that is whats random, altho that may change.

    and JJ. flaming ppl for their disablities is rather rude, and that post was as off topic as it gets.
  14. also i notessed someone said the key that dose not spawn a point on the map is for the jail, i got this off of a clickwork in Kings Row and i assume would be a skull in atlas etc. i think if thats what its for it should be dropped off of a cop, most likely one at cleast close to the jail, maybe the one on the floor the cells are on.
    but hey whatever, just a thought...

    They are tracking, you just haven't done enough. I think it was during my 6th mayhem mission that I got the first ones for destroying cars and trucks and for destroying random objects. And while I didn't keep count, I gather the one for bank vaults goes off at about 15 of them. After about 20 Mayhem Missions I still don't have the one for the cops, which somewhat surprises me in light of how low the first two were, but then I just got my Villain badge for defeating Longbow, too.

    how many do you have to take out before you get a bar? i have destroyed many cars with both of my toons i have been playing these with(about 6-7 each), a couple trucks, almost every cop i have run across, every vault door, etc... im not expecting to have the badge by now or anything but the progress bar to see how close i am like all the other badges that are defeat X mobs, take X hp, etc...
    usualy stuff like it is take out 1 to get the listing for the badge in the list and then the next starts the progress bar, or so i thought...

    I did bug the problem with the MM pets not taking aggro in-game, but figured i would mention it here as well, sence no one else has.

    i still think 20 min is low enough, altho i haven't gotten to try one with a movement power, maybe after that 15 min will be enough. I got through 1 when i thought i should be getting 20 min, but all the timer boosts worked correctly.

    The level of the 'boss' should be solely based on the mish level setting and # of people.
    as opposed to the stuff you do, mainly for the pet classes and the rescue villian follower, i have to keep them destroying things on the way to the bank just to keep them following me. yah i know they are set on agressive, but with so many targetable things they go ape$#!+. and i think other pets are not that controlable, i know the follower(rescued dumas) is not.
    that and certain classes do better one on one than others, let alone one on six.

    oh well, server is down now so hopefully they are in prosess of fixing some of these bugs/issues...

  16. oh yah, and none of the badges from the mayhem mish's seem to be tracking, defeat heroes, cops, cars/trucks, vault doors.
    i see them in the list but none of them have the progress bar, not sure if that intentional

I have done quite a few(all on villianous), levels 6-13 leveled both a punk mm ff and dm/reg stalker till the last patch they were farely easy but the last couple levels and the new patch a day or 2 ago have been givin me a few problems, partly why i have a problem with a boss on the lowest dif level. a boss by herself would be fine, but when that hero comes with a longbow and lately 4-6 cops witch all seem to compleatly ignore my 'pets' and make a b-line for me. the MM is a squishy the pets are our shield, what good is a shield that the enimies all compleatly ignore. and all of the ambush mobs can ignore the 'Hide' power, intentional so they can find you from where they spawned, but takes away our def and one of our attks as a stalker, who in a straight on hand to hand fight they are a major gimp'd scrapper.

    as of the new patch, insted of fixing the time on the mish's so we enter with 20 min they now tell you you have 15min for the mish, only finnished one mish after these changes and was not quite able to get the sub mish, almost, if i had the extra 5 min i would have got it. other 2 i have tried i failed, both got killed by hero, Lt. & her 5+ helpers, i wasn't able to break out of jail on one and other i made it out but not back to the bank on the other side of town to get back to kill the hero, had the loot tho shoulda counted for something, lol
    I realy think if they are going to change the time on it it should not be untill at least level 14, w/o a move power its too hard to get around, and not everyone gets one at 14

    so far i have gotten
    the jetpack, the jump boots, a stealth suit on my stalker!!! lol what a waste,
    Stealth Suit, toggle, 30min lowers move rate and give def bonus but if u attack you lose the def bonus,
    Med Kit, 15 uses heal self
    Cryoprojection Bracers, cold/smash DAM, Foe -recharge

    and as for the randon hero, i have gotten flambox EVERY time i did one in atlas, and this spines scrapper EVERY time i go to kings row, also from port oaks.

    for the rescue, for those who havent figured it out, you can see them in the cell if u look through the slot in the door before you waste time smashing doors (they take forever)

    the last one i figured that out on i saw him from the angle i was fighting a cop, just as i finnish the fight he popped out of the door, but i never got a time bonus or any message that i saved him, or her, i dont remember, but they folowed me around untill i got outside and he proceded to attack useless $#!+ and get lost and my timer was to close so i ran for the bank to try to get my hero, was hopeing if i got there and entered the building he would appear, but never made it to find out

    as for the cars and trucks, i have killed purple ones to white onees and never once gotten a time bonus for cars trucks or crates or any of that, only on phones, fire hidrents, parking meaters (5-6 in a row) mail boxes, bus stops, dumpsters, trash cans, and even once for a cardboard box. but only on either random ones or usualy just the first one of each

    civies, what can i say? either take them off the tab scroll, or let me take them out.
    B) I prefer M rated games and MMO's realy ought to be, kids have no place in these kinds of games (there are alwase exceptions to prove the rule, but most kids are not mature enough to 'play nice', neither are some adults...lol)
    A) I am supposed to be a comic book villian, not a saturday morning cartoon villian, in comix villians kill people, even some of the mish's were worded like that, heroes arest, villians kill, hence villians. i mean sure, USUALY in comics the heros and villians didnt kill each other but it does happen, and alwase there is alot of collateral damage, and inocent people get hurt or worse. thus motivation for heores. if everyone who gets hurt is teleported to the hospital then what is the point of heroes in the first place? "oh no, i have been kidnapped, go a head, shoot me then i wont be kidnapped anymore ill be in the hospital...." why save anyone? i think i have my motivation for my scrapper to go darkside, when they let me... (not that he isnt already, dark melee)
    but any way you look at it, if they come up on my target and i have to scroll through them and the npc villians(pets too) all stick to them like glue, let them die/get tp'd whatever i dont care.
    maybe the civi i kill today will be the loved one that inspires the next caped crusader...

    i just realized something, the aracnos helm is almost identical to a villian in trigun, except he had eyes in it, but when they were closed, looked like it but a diffrent color, odd
    one of the only people Vash shot at with intent to kill

    oh, and one other odd thing with the intro of I7, everytieme i get to the char select screen my toons are in a difrent order. there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order, not like last played toon on top or anything i got used to them being in the order you made them...
    not a big issue but figured they should know

    so far i have to say CoV is better in consept, even if they have done some realy kewl things with it all the classes seem like gimped down vertions of thier hero counterparts, except MM's and they suxers when the pet taunt dont work.
    brutes would be good if they had the option of regen

  18. first off, yes dark maul is still my faveorite attk from the dark melee line, but build up insted of life tap? i knew we would lose something, but life tap is sooo stalker, isnt the assassin strike enough? we need build up too?

    I would like to see a bit of width on the cone, i can see it not have more range, altho any chi attack could have range melee or otherwise, but with the energy melee you just let them all suround you, it takes a bit of work to get the mobs lined up for dark maul but thats the price (+long animation) for the dmg it does, I too consider it a sig move that and the life tap.

    my first and faveorite charactor is still my DM/Reg scrapper and the stalker just dosent hold a candle. the dark armor is fun but i dont like toggles, and i lost my life tap and my end regen, some days it don't pay to be evil...

    Have a mission where healing skills (defenders, controllers, anyone with medicine) saves a victim with their healing powers.


    Let's have some more missions where brute force is not the only answer. In the above examples, each problem can be overcome using more than one skill/power/tactic.

    As the game stands on live, every mission is accomplished by dealing damage. That's it. Every mission today is right up a blaster's or scrapper's alley. What about a mission that is right up a defender's alley or a controller, or a tank?

    CoH can be much more than just a 3rd person shooter.

    Awesome ideas. Anything that can help take us away from "Kill first, sort em out later" mentality is good. We're super heroes after all, not everything can be solved by nuking someone. Not all of us are the Punisher or Spawn.

    i have had some where all i had to do was click on X Deals, ran theu with super speed and clicked them all and then after geting them i went back and 'arested' the 'zombies' same effect could have been dont with invis, or maybe teleport or something i havent tried that so dont know how it works yet
    either way didnt require any brute force other then the break in hehe
  20. when i heard about this i was apalled have had to hard a time with red boss's and other so called plot twists to make it so i am either forced to group to get thru or level a time or 2 to beat the boss. now i can usualy solo an orange with most of my toons, and sometimes a red, but when that mob can stun/sleep/tendrils of doom, whatever then its about impossible to solo one, as i found out on that deseaed arc, with the zonbies. another arc i will have to get help on the boss, i hate haveing to ask for help, makes me feel less-than-super.
    grouping can be fun, with the right people, but should NEVER be a requirement to play the game
    we pay enough to escape our stress filled lives a game should be fun


    The more people play on the Test Server, the fewer bugs make it to Live.
    I agree with that but they need to be the right ppl, hehe and if too many play on test then it will be just as annoying as live, way over crouded
