Quote:I resent your attitude. I thought we were not supposed to attack one another on these boards. All my further comments are with-held in accordance with proper board etiquette.No.
So instead of acting responsibly and reading the product description before you make a purchase, you've decided to rely on third parties and hope they know what they are talking about?
Oh Wise and Mystic 8-Ball, will the OP's desicion to rely on other people who may be just as uninformed about products as he is put an end to his regretting buying items he finds he can't use after he makes the purchase?
SIGNS SAY NO . . . -
Quote:Very True. The free player experience is akin to CoH pre Issue 9 imo - which means no IOs and no side switching. The free player is still getting a completely workable game; one in which most of us paid hundreds of dollars through sub fees over time to access up to Issue 9. I am sorry your financial situation does not allow you to be VIP, but I am glad Paragon has given you the ability to play for free to a certain degree...and who knows if/when your situation improves at least now you will know what to spend your money on to further your enjoyment of the game.
I did not mean my comment to imply that I resent being a freebie. I only resent those individuals who resent me being a freebie! -
Also, free players can't just hop to redside or blueside. Thus Patron Power Pools are not equal for blue and red. If I want a hero, (being a freebie) I can't use Patron Powers.
And before anyone starts bellyaching "Then go VIP", I reply, since the money tree is obviously growing in your yard, why don't you buy everyone a VIP membership? I'm doing good to have internet service so that I can pay bills online.
If I had to pay for CoH, I wouldn't play; though I have bought a few items from Paragon Market. There's a difference in buying what I want and paying for junk I'll never use. Going Rogue costs more than everything I've bought thus far. I haven't bought it simply because there are other things I want more that cost less.
But, as for the necessity of Alignment Missions... I've run more than a dozen of them. I get nothing from them but enjoyment and experience, but then, enjoyment and experience are why I play the game! IF I could switch from redside to blueside and vice versa, I would have no problem with running the missions necessary to do so. -
I did the same with the Enhancement Booster, not realizing that it was an invention item, and thus useless to me unless I buy an invention liscense, and keep buying them forever to keep the Enhancement valid, or go VIP.
And YES, I did buy it from the menu, not the description.
Still, other items have a (VIP CONTENT) warning. Shouldn't it, as well...
What I really wish is that I could give it to a VIP friend, so that someone could get my money's worth, but I can't give it away!!!
Now, I ask other players about things before I buy... -
But still cool. If the animations worked, I'd like 'em. I always liked the way Banshee's costume helped him fly, and the same with a lot of those others listed.
Could be a costume piece, or part of a temporary "FLIGHT PACK" travel power.
I'd buy it. -

Quote:That is exactly what I had in mind. As others mentioned, some AT are difficult to get started. This would help. I don't even know if I'd handle it like a pact, so that their levels grow together. It might even be interesting to limit the sidekick - not allowing him/her to surpass the mentor.TY, Blast_Chamber for pointing out the AT suggestion I made for a Duo character, with an MM-style single henchman. But unfortunately, that's not what the OP is asking for, based on how I'm reading it. He's asking for a single account level pact between two full-on characters, where one is active and the other acts as a heal-bot or attack-bot for the other, they both gain XP, inf, and drops, and they can be switched back and forth after speaking to an NPC. If that's not what The Turnbow had in mind, please elaborate in a reply.
Solo play is very limiting for us odd-hour players. -
How about a feature where a computer-controlled sidekick follows the hero and targets the same foes, utilizing powers much the way the Shooting Stars NPC's do in those missions?
1: The player must create both the mentor and the sidekick on the same server. This could lead to the sale of more server slots as well.
2: The player can switch between his/her two characters when speaking to a trainer.
For example, the player has two characters: the Stick, and Moth-Guy.
The player plays the Stick, and moth-guy follows and assists.
Then, the player can change to Moth-Guy, and the stick will follow and assist.
Both characters gain experience and level-up.
This feature would be great for players who (like me) work odd hours and can usually get online between 2 and 5 AM - not many chances to work with other players and teams during those hours.
HOWEVER, there should be limits -
1: the two characters cannot be more than 5 actual levels apart
2: the duo cannot enter Strike Force missions
3: Hero/Villain teams are not possible.
Any other ideas? -
How about a variation of the Kama-Yari? A hand-held sickle with a chain attached.

Personally, I'd also like to change the look of the "Pool Powers" as well. For example, my brute uses Dark Melee, then suddenly, when I use the Speed power Flurry, these bright yellow flashes appear, while all his other attacks are black and smokey. It makes the more generic powers stand out and seem out of place.
