OP called August 31 "black friday", which is a little lame because it's the name of shopping spree day after Thanksgiving. Brass Friday sounds better due and a lore shout-out as Nemesis first big plot was known as Brass Monday.
  3. They're too busy playing with that bitchin' Portal turret from WETA.

I came in here to say that it shouldn't be called black friday, but Brass Friday.

Sparta also had a 20:1 slave to citizen ratio and it's not like any of them got to vote. Electing officials to decide issues is not a real democracy, having the citizens directly vote on it is, which would be a disaster for many reasons (mob rules, demagogues, etc).
  6. And since NCSoft owns the name, it would have to be changed.

Because a single article in the Taipei Times is enough to write off an entire race.
  8. Sounds too much like World of Warcraft as well. Change the title, maybe something like Paragons.

You can't run around in AP at 35 expecting to receive xp. By relevancy, I mean that at no point you are forced to play through an area because it's the only one in your level range.
  10. It's the price you pay for having relevancy for all levels.

The original Guild Wars is still running after 7 years.

I mean just chill. NCSoft obviously doesn't need your business or they wouldn't be cancelling your game. Just have fun with it while it lasts and try to find what you liked about COH elsewhere.
Pretty much this. Rather be playing the game then AFKing in AP.
  15. I used to like World of Heroes, but then I felt it sounded too much like World of Warcraft.

If people want to play GW2, that's fine by me, personally. If it's a game they enjoy, the death of this game shouldn't prevent them from enjoying it.

I got it as a gift, and I'm going to play it, because it's a solid game. However, I won't be buying anything in the cash shop, which is something I may have done otherwise, just to support the game. But I don't have any illusions that NCSoft cares one way or another about my lack of support, and I'm not doing it to send a message. I'm doing it because NCSoft's piss poor customer relations haven't earned my money.
You can use in-game gold to buy the currency used in those shops. You can even play the market by buying and selling the two during the fluctuations.

Why? Because I don't have misplaced loyalty to a video game? Not a developer or even a lead designer, but the game itself? The worse thing to come of this is Paragon losing their jobs and I think it's terrible to think it happening to another studio would be an okay causality in your grandiose vendetta.
  18. Basically, if there was ever a spiritual successor to CoH, what would you name it? Personally, I wouldn't mind Paragon Online (fits the theme of both heroes and villains) or something more comic book-like such as Heroes Forever.
  19. And to think you have the hacking knowledge to do such a thing because your brother taught you is laughable.

And that I cannot forgive or condone.

If Arenanet and GW2 get hurt in the process (which I doubt they'll feel all that much anyway) then so be it.

It may mean only the tiniest drop in the endless sea of profits that GW2, Arenanet, and NCSoft make. It may mean NOTHING to anyone else.

But it means something to ME. I will know that I acted honorably and with principle.

And that's all that matters in the end. That I can look myself in the mirror and know I didn't stab my friends in the back by handing over money to the people that killed City of Heroes, the best damn MMO ever made.
    Those are some strange principles.

No, it was always Diablo as an FPS.
  23. Black out drunk is the best story option.
  24. If CoH was worked into a Freedom Force/Skyrim/KOTOR like game it would be vastly different, but I would still play it because I do like those games. Thing is I doubt you could turn this game into a complete singleplayer game like the ones you listed.
