  1. My experience with GameStop has always been quite good, but last night was even better.

The manager said I could have one of the pre-order boxes, if I beat him in Paper, Rock, Scissors. First round, we tied. Second, I lost. He said that I could have one, anyhow, since I played along.

So, in the instance I don't get my box from EBGames, I can always use this one. If I do get mine, then my wife can have one without having to buy another game. *cackles*

Playing in CoH, heroes can trade with other heroes...but can villains trade with villains?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm sure Villains can trade with Villains.

    [ QUOTE ]
More to the point, when they meet, can a hero trade with a villain? Having traded influence back and forth among my alts, it would be interesting to know whether I will be able to give influence to my newbie villains!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seeing as Hero and Villain teaming isn't allowed, I highly doubt any trading can go on between a Hero and a Villain. More to the point, as you would put it, Villains have Infamy. Not Influence.

Guys, just remember that getting the CoV pre-order doesn't mean you get into the closed beta right away.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm just in it for the helmet and the guarantee of getting the game. I can wait til release to actually play.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
the segregation of man vs. woman really sucks.... SUCKS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, no kidding. The one helmet I hate is the only one I could wear on my favourite character.
  5. But I don't want the bloody Q-tip helm! *throws a fit!* I don't want to play an ugly male, either!

Ah well. =/ Maybe they'll change their minds, sometime...
  6. Just for clarification, to those reading a bit much into it:

cry Audio pronunciation of "crying" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kr)
    v. cried, (krd) cry·ing, cries (krz)
    v. intr.

    1. To sob or shed tears because of grief, sorrow, or pain; weep.
    2. To call loudly; shout.
    3. To utter a characteristic sound or call. Used of an animal.
    4. To demand or require immediate action or remedy

As for the changes, I don't have an Ice Tanker, but I don't see how they help them, specifically. While it would be a nice change for everyone, it doesn't balance the Ice Tankers with the other sets.
  7. The only tweak I don't fully understand is to Entangling Arrow. They're immobilized... and that's it. No damage/DoT, no -recharge, nothing. Just immobilized. You could always add in a minor -recovery function to simulate struggling in the net. That'd be asking a bit much, though.
  8. Having Archery and Trick Arrow both available for Defenders actually gave me reason to play one.

While some would say Entangle Arrow is virtually useless, I've found it to be quite handy in situations with flying enemies. Although, it doesn't seem to hold them, if you shoot them in mid-flight 100% of the time. On occasion, they just fall to the ground and then slowly run about.

Ice Arrow is great for Lieutenants and Bosses. Even though the chance of it holding is rare (with Bosses), the slow is nearly invaluable.

Glue Arrow is a piece of work, for the fact that it's quite ugly and doesn't look like glue, at all. More like tar, if anything. Aside from my little nitpicking, it's great for escapes. Especially combined with...

Flash Arrow. Which has been my dearest friend, as I didn't take Stealth or anything else that could possibly help me survive in the Hollows. I think I'd be lost without it.

That's all I've been able to test, so far. Sorry. D:

these pokemon games you're playing, you pay a monthly fee for them? if not, then your comment isn't that relevant.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The relevance is within the fact that City of Heroes and City of Villains are both standalone, much like Pokemon Red and Blue... but they can build off of each other. As noted previously, what about those who only get City of Villains? Wouldn't City of Heroes just be an expansion?

    [ QUOTE ]
cov is very much an expansion to coh, if it weren't, then how is it you HAVE to buy cov in order to get bases for your hero?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because it's part of the City of Villains package. There may be things in CoH that CoV won't get. You don't know yet.

    [ QUOTE ]
if you're just throwing out answers because you're a fanboy, sorry, warn me next time so i know.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't think that the fact that CoV isn't just an expansion was so classified or made-up that it made me seem like a fanboy, so I apologize for my ability to pay attention to posts on such matters which have been all over the forums, at some point.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
COV is an expansion to COH. if you want the guild houses (i.e. SG/SV bases), then you HAVE to buy COV. Heck the trade skill/professions thing might end up being a part of the COV deal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Might.

    [ QUOTE ]
i'm not really sure how to react to that thought of paying more and more for an online game when expansions come out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
i think someone is living in a dream world by believing it's ok to charge extra monthly fees in order to play an expansion to an existing game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If it were a simple expansion, you'd need CoH to play CoV and vice versa... but you don't. An example I've given many many times, now, is that CoH and CoV are like Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. You don't need one to play the other... but to have access to certain bits of content, you'd need both.
  11. This obviously hasn't been fully thought through nor tweaked, but I thought I'd share what I had worked on only a month or so ago.

    Fang
    Ranged, Minor (Lethal)
    Recharge: Fast
    - Fires a single bullet at target.

    Snake Bite
    Ranged, Moderate (Lethal)

    - "Non-lethal" shot that can disorient a target.

    Piercing Fang

    Trigger Happy

There was a Gun Kata set to go with it, but it'd sorta be like Super Reflexes for Blasters or some such. Silly idea... plus, I never finished the idea.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
However that design was great and I personally feel it should be kept on the shelf incase it can be used for something else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. Though, I have this strong desire to fight the one in the concept art... I don't know why.

    Villain Emotes

    [ QUOTE ]
I, for one, want a large gun that pops out a "Bang" flag.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wouldn't mind that one, myself. A few of these were mentioned before, but I figure I'd second, third, or whatever these.

    - Air Guitar complete with minor headbanging.
    - VILLAINOUS SITTING. Not really. Just something like... Left knee to chest with left arm draped over previously mentioned leg, while right lays bent along the ground with corresponding arm atop it. It's more of a relaxed/bum kind of thing, I suppose.
    - Facepalming. Where one either quickly, but gently, drops their forehead into their palm (for those self-served "Ugh. Such an idiot!" times) or violenty slapping one's hand to their forehead in the "I can't believe that just happened!" moments.
    - The respectful kneel/bow. Some villains know their place.
    - An "I'm Through With You!" gesture, as if snatching up something in front of your face, with your right hand, and throwing it to the ground, off to the side. A nice growl (human-like, not animal) could be included.
    - To follow-up the last, another emote is necessary. The "Get Him/Her!" A more dramatic pointing, but with the left hand (cause it'd look silly doing both emotes with the same hand; try it if you don't believe me!).
    - Kicking at the ground, in a "Shoot!" manner. Can also double for kicking corpses.
    - Classic "jump into the air and pause for a second." Although, this would be far more fitting for heroes.
    - Shrugging should be carried over.
    - A member of the Freakshow, in one of the trailers, pulled out a machine gun, and started cackling while firing it into the air... which would be freakin' cool to do at any given time. Wouldn't it be nice to announce your arrival by having your whole team to the emote at once? *cackles*
    - Commonly used martial arts stance, complete with "bring it" hand gesture.
    - Face Stroke aka Beard Stroke. More of a "cheeks to chin" kind of thing, the other arm across their stomach. When I think about it, it wouldn't work too well for those who actually had beards. Male or female, it works.
    - Definitely supporting the "cutthroat" gesture. Complete with pointing.
    - Same goes for the Dramatic Play Dead. There could easily be two or three of these.
    - MGS3 Ocelot Hand Gesture (if it weren't for the copyright issues, I'd actually be serious about this). Although, if you could manage something similar... BUHUHUHUH.

All are desired... but the bolded ones are a necessity. Sorta.
