I love my L50 FF/Sonic, he's becoming my favorite toon for Hami and Pylon raids, and the STF.
-
I completely ignored the endy drain on my dark/elec Midnight Lightning, opting instead for the other controls and slotting for damage on the blasts. He's all single-target blasts and AoE lock-down. I took just the Dominate power from the Psi APP, I had the apple-jacks armor and TK prior to respec, opting instead for the Leadership pool. I also respec'd out of Thunderous Blast. Of couse, ML travels with my wife's blasters so AoE damage is taken care of most of the time.
Of the STFs I've taken him on, I've found that Tar Patch and Votaic Sentinel are excellent pulling tools. I have VS slotted for range; Patch is pretty good range too. Mixed with my Celerity Stealth and Shadow Fall I can get fairly close, set the targetting icon, que for a TP, then set the reticle and port out before the power is fully que'd. I've been able to pull single AVs with this method 100% of the time so far. -
A U.N. fighting force?
Oh yeah, this is all a work of fiction. Carry on! -
To the OP:
When you have an equal number of players on each side who can communicate well and have a nice blend of powers, yes. (which is usually 5% of the time IME.)
All other times (95%) - no -
If I can't design my own superhero and costume in MUO I'm not playing. I'm a huge Spidey fan, but I don't want to play Spidey #2346 alongside #325 and #3087.
If MUO offers customization, *and* a more immersive world, we'll see. -

Hey, Posi, anyone looking into the bug that prevents groupmates from entering your base?
[/ QUOTE ]
What about the bug that unpredictably boots you from your base after going there for rezzing? The ying/yang is that you reappear on the map where you were defeated or just outside the door of the mission instance you were in, but still it's unpleasant. -

* Debt in PvP Zones. Currently we "Pro-Rate" debt depending on how much damage you took from NPCs vs. PCs. When this is fixed we will zero out any debt if the killing blow comes from PCs, and Pro-Rate debt if the killing blow comes from NPCs.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would like to ask, again, if you could use this same tech to give due credit for defeats in PvP. If you can track what damage came from where for the application of debt, then I can't see it being a huge leap to use the same tech to figure out which players contributed to a players defeat and give them a share of the reward. As it is now, certain ATs and Sets easily, but not always intentionally, kill steal while others labor hard to get an enemy into position to get defeated only to loose out at the last second.

Gaunlet is a toned down version of a power that all tankers get access to anyway. In this way it feels slapped on with no real 'flare' for superheroics.
And in solo play, big whoop-d-doo, I'm aggroing the guy I just hit. Gee neat.
Drawing aggro is the tanker's main job, yes. But he can do it most effectively by staying alive, not by reinforcing the anger management. What other people suggest for the tanker inherent is spot on, give them a clickable resist/defense ability similar to how domination works.
(While you're at it, fix Vigilance tooIt is also worthless in solo play, or when you and your team are doing well.)

THIS IS PVP. PEOPLE COME TO THESE ZONES FOR PVP. THEY DO NOT COME TO THE ZONES FOR PVE. SEPERATE THE TWO AND STOP DICKING AROUND AS YOU TINKER TO AND FRO IN YOUR SEARCH FOR THE ULTIMATE ALOGRITYHM OF THEORETICAL BALANCE.

DO NOT PRESUME TO TELL ME WHY I GO TO PVP. WE ALL PAY FOR THIS GAME AND HAVE FULL RIGHTS TO HYPOTHESIZE WHAT WOULD MAKE PVP GOOD FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE PLAYERBASE, NOT SIMPLY THOSE PEOPLE WHO SEEM TO LIKE LIKE DOING NOTHING ELSE BUT DEFEATING OTHER PLAYERS FOR A REPUTATION SCORE THAT MEANS NOTHING IMO.
1) I like(d) PvP (before the debt thing)
2) I like fighting PvE mobs
3) I like(d) the tickle on the back of my neck I experienced when fighting mobs in Siren's Call that was an expectation of an Assassin Strike, Scourge, Domination, etc. at any moment.
4) I do not like getting debt for fighting a mob in SC when I could get that debt in a PvE zone, and might *not* have gotten that debt because there wasn't a villain waiting to zerg me as soon as I was weak enough for a one-shot. -
Siren's Call could see some 50's as well, as that's a way to get some L53 SO's to fill out the areas that don't have HO's.
Of course, that's assuming there are enough bounties. -
[ QUOTE ]
Alright, so what I am gathering is that ppl are mad because if they are fighting npcs and a pc comes and finishes the job, they are mad because they get debt?!
[/ QUOTE ]
No that doesn't anger me at all, I'm more annoyed that they can track this damage but they can't split out Bounty in SC so that a killstealer takes 100% of bounty after causing the last 5% damage on a PC my Defender has been dealing with for the last 2-3 minutes.
No, I just don't see a point to this 'improvement." If I want debt I'll stay in the PvE zones.
This whole risk/reward things comes up again. Before there was no debt, now we have a new risk of debt. Where is the new reward? -
[ QUOTE ]
I have said for months that debt, XP, influence, and prestige should be taken away from PvP zones, as well as the missions in the zones. The emphasis of the zones should be PvP, but it has gotten away from that emphasis.
[/ QUOTE ]
So just go into a zone to fight other players and build up a Reputation score that does nothing. Wow, I could just see people running into the zones in droves!
Sorry, some people need more incentive than that. -
[ QUOTE ]
No, it's quite clear that is NOT what the power is designed to do, AS EVIDENCED BY THE HURRICANE NERF.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it shows people were not prepared for the exploit others found in the power. People wined. Instead of fixing the exploit, the devs gimped the power for everyone. And now, everything related to repel is going to suffer.
Which is a shame. -
[ QUOTE ]
Its the nature of the beast.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for reiterating my point. There's lots of stuff that counters other stuff, there's lots of stuff that some AT's can't handle. Nerfing the effect and ignoring cause is not the answer IMO. -

/em wonders when the devs are gonna realize that Force Bubble has the same "problem" that convinced em to zap Hurricane.
[/ QUOTE ]
The worst parts about getting debuffed by hurricane was the nasty to-hit debuff and its -range. The -tohit was easily countered at the higher levels(FA, AIM, BU, etc). The -range was the only form of mitigation against ranged toons for the Storm summoning set. It made only since that storm should be able to keep melee out when they are so vulnerable to everything else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, the only thing I really wanted to change in this mess was the ability for Repel Fields to effectively trap a player against geometry in Base Raids. I'm aware other powers have the same problem. I'll address those individually, though -- the same type of change made to Hurricane can be made, but for the most part, those powers have fewer aspects to them that Hurricane does. That makes getting them right considerably harder.
[/ QUOTE ]
So first... why the change to the ACC debuff? Was that a second issue being dealt with that has (in effect) created a double kick in the jimmy to Stormies?
Second... yeah it sucks being pinned against a wall/geometry, but that's what the power was designed to do. It pushes and pins. What else is it supposed to do? There's lots of powers I don't like what they do to me in PvP and PvE, but I thought we were supposed to deal with the challenge. We can't help it if the bases are nothing but corners and geometry. We work with what you give us.
I don't like getting 1,2 shot by blasters or stalkers
I don't like getting stuck in a Tar Patch
I don't like getting detoggled by EM
I don't like the insane damage generated by brutes in melee
I don't like being debuffed by Enervating Field or Radiation Infection.
I don't like being grounded by Air Superiority.
I don't like losing in PvP.
So what? They are facets of the game, it's up to us to deal with them. It's up to the devs to *fix* the problem of an exploit, not punish people for honest play.
Really, it's not the repel effect from Hurricane or TK that was causing the problem. It is people TP'ing them into the corner while a Repel effect was active and then pinned them into that corner. What if repel field generated an interrupt effect for TP Foe? Problem fixed, and you can still repel people in a melee honestly.
Base pinning? Tough noogies. If the defending team built a base that allows for pinning and sticking people, that's TACTICS. The other team attacked them voluntarily. They have to deal with their decision. The attacking team is pinning people? *shrug* Defenders need to build a better base. -
Apologies if this has been mentioned before...
But has anyone pointed out how Hurricane is *still* an aggro magnet for all the NPCs in the PvP zones? All you have to do is nick a mob and the entire spawn will descend on you with great vengeance and furious anger. Before, the risk/reward ratio wasn't so bad to have that power running. Now, is it really worth it? Are those NPCs gonna be repeled like they are in PvE? Are they going to get into melee like all the melee ATs are able to now?
So what then, drop the Hurricane so you can get a mercy AS before you get street debt?
