I like it
Maybe include some sort of Nemesis plot? The summer isn't complete without one
[/ QUOTE ]
Nemesis is the ultimate terrorist. He could sit back for a whole year, stand his men down for some RnR, and watch Paragon and the Rogue Isles tear themselves apart as they think 'Its all a Nemesis Plot'. -

What Techbot_Alpha is saying is true, there are some really nice Americans out there. I got a good few friends over in the US, but the ones you meet on MMO's and XBL (I find it particular in XBL) are complete morons and usually very competetive. Having said that, I have met some friendly Americans through those mediums that aren't morons.

^ This.
Taking a moment to think, now that the hear isnt to oppresive (seriously, this is England, where did all the rain go?) I will be reserving judgement, until we actually get the merger. However, I'm jsut saying that, should war break out, Im not going to be too surprised.

Best one I heard, courtesy of Xbox Live, was "We saved your @$$es in world war two, from the nazis, yeah, you suck!"
To the Americans, all English drink tea and act snooty, all Germans are nazis, and the French are from Monty Python. Not all of them, there are some very nice people there. But the total is less than the sum of the parts.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're generalising with that statement just as badly as you're claiming they do.
I lived in America for years - and I got the "we saved you in WWII" comment more times than I can count. And even better, the "we beat you up in the Revloutionary War!" comment. But far more than I got that, I found out that on the whole (at least in the North East, where I lived), Americans are really generous, friendly, open, lovely individuals. That's actually one of the things I miss about the US.
Let's just remember that the internet tends to bring out the worst in people, it's a breeding ground for silly arguments and stupid comments, and it's the most obnoxious individuals who are the loudest. It's ridiculous to take how people of a certain nationality act on a forum as how that nationality is as a whole.
That said, I'm not a fan of nationalism and patriotism, and it's something you find in bucketloads in the US - but insulting them is only likely to cause us to see more of that kind of thing from those so inclined. And it might annoy the ones who aren't especially nationalistic for being tarred with that same brush.
Let's not turn the country vs. country arguments into a self-fulfilling prophecy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Way to go to miss out the bolded phrase. I know some incredibly nice people from the US. But I've also met some right morons. And, sadly, as you said, the likelihood of meeting them in MMOs and on the net is much larger. -
Any news on the Science Booster? Seeing as that appeared to be working pretty much perfectly from the start anyway =]

Feed him cookies and turn him to the Dark Side! ^^
Many congratulations to you both! But be ready to not hear of sleep for a long long time -
Its colour, armour. Stand up to defend true English!

As the others stood their ground as well against the Lieutenant, Vix joined in the general search attempt. She shut her eyes, sat back on her haunches, and let her empathic aura spread, filtering down specifically to find a level of anger, arrogance and other darker emotions that, hopefully, would be narrowed down further. It was no exact science, but as she had said, she'd be damned if she didn't try.

I would love this because it means more characters for my slot-consuming altitis but if they were merged there would be problems with character's names along with SG names.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again.. like when I posted this idea/suggestion completly worked out, people are not reading... one server list with each server untouched on the list.
The name proble will be in youre global name only. And that is a lot less of a problem to change if you have too...
[/ QUOTE ]
^This.
Put the US servers on the server list. That way every US/EU player can choose a server they want, and would have to make characters with availible names on that server.
Just like making a char on union, then making one on defiant. Same concept.
And +1 to alpha above me. I can see it already
Americans: Go brush your teeth you european f***s
Europeans: Go eat a burger, or better yet get some excersise, or better yet give it a few hundred years and you might actually have some history and culture!!!

I can imagine Damz's speculated Union .v. Defiant war ending up as a EU .v. US war if there are cultural clashes

That's not what he said ....
'Deal' with is pretty much how I expect things will be when we merge.
I regularly post on a music forum that is predominantly populated by Americans and some of the nationalistic opinions there are unbelievable.
I fully expect to see quite a few cultural clashes between the EU and US communities when we merge.

You don't need to be scared of them
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, I know that
I'm scared of losing what little is left of my sanity with trying to deal with them.
I've not had some good experiences with the 'lot from over the pond', let's put it that way. -
"I call on charges of Prejudice!" Vix snapped, glaring at Hicks from where she sat. "First off, lieutenant, I did what I could to make sure that civilians were out of the area before going further. Second, the life of the girl here was in trouble, hence the 'Nuke' use. Thirdly, why are we here, with you picking on me when you clearly just want to throw me in a cell for being a psychic, when we should be after that b*tch with the gang? If she's from the Rogue Isles, she's the one who needs to be in a cell!"
Vix flicked a strand of hair back into position, before managing to raise herself to a crouch.
"Two more point, by the way. First off, my job is at Chiron Cenre in Atlas Park, Lieutenant. I'm a doctor. If you want to lock me up when I need to get back there for a night shift, you can explain that to Dr Mansfield. And second, do you think for one instant that I enjoy being this way? So, stop calling me goddamned, f***ing furball!"
It had been a long day. This guy called himself a cop? Vix snarled in the privacy of her own head. She spent her time dealing with everyday illnesses, sever illnesses, major injuries, near-dead casualties and the sort of carnage that others only saw in the Rikti Warzone...and this guy was trying to arrest her. Straight out of a damn comic book, this was... -
Another one for the 'Frequent Suggestions', or something
Besides, dealing with the yanks on forums is one thing...in-game? -
[ QUOTE ]
I've never understood the thought behind the design to have characters tied to a specific server. I can't see a reason for it... but I'm sure some one else can.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nowadays, maybe. But that doesnt stop it having major hurdles in the way.
1) Technology. I recall one of the rednames saying that EU->US transfer was particularly hard, or something.
2) Names. People are attached to toon and SG names, and unless they sorted out a US/EU invisible tag, or at least a discreet one, I think people would get rather hacked off.
3) Community. One some people might call 'unimportant', but the RP community over EU side is rather distinct, with all sorts of stories and characters that have well established backgrounds, effects, prejudices etc. If that all went US side, all of it would be swamped by the US 'lore'. Most of it would be discounted or worse. Which would lead to yet more friction.
List merge, maybe. Full merge? Bad idea, at least in this bots opinion. -

Rednames have said that sever merges are simply not happening in the forseeable future. That might extend to list mergers, cant recall.
I've made my feelings on a full server (not a list) merge very clear in past threads -
"Pistol," was all Vix managed, before sitting down hard, folding her legs into a sort of meditation pose. She ached. Godsdamn, that b*tch had been tough.
"And, Lieutenant, I'm not going anywhere near Aeon's screwed up 'experiment'. I'm not going anywhere, so maybe you could make sure the civilians are alright first? Please?" -

Its a different sex!!!!! So how you going to pay?A free costume token? Am i being punked or something?

You should be able to use free tokens. Thats what I did.
If its not working, that is probably a bug. -
Vix saw what was going to happen, and sidestepped Pistol in a blur that made the air hum.
"Fight or talk, but don't...do...BOTH" she shouted as she skidded to a stop in the middle of the circle. She had already isolated Jeanne's 'pattern', you could call it, from her thoughts, before letting rip with what some Blaster classifaction heroes termed a 'Nuke', a wall of expanding psionics that traded in any form of subtlety for sheer stopping power.
The pavement cracked under her feet, what tables were left outside the diner went flying. She could only hope it had the same effect on the Villain and her henchmen. -

The best way, IMO, to help PvP would be to start over with every AT having he exact same base stats. And then working on it from there, rather than trying to shoehorn in compromises and suchnot.
For example, a blaster does more damage than a defender. But that shouldnt mean a defender is weak, per se.
So, base line for everyone = 100% damage. Say they both have ice blast, and the lvl 1 attack does, say, 10 damage. So, blasters and defenders have the same HP, def, res, etc. Ergo, whoever gets the first shot in would win.
Now, instead of then nerfing the defender or blaster, or raising the def/res, give the blaster a, say, 20% damage increase. So, instead of 10 damage hes doing 12, while the defender is still doing 10. Now, that said, if the defender uses tactics and secondary powers, he could still win.
Thats a very crude, baseline example, and it probably works better mentally than written downbut rather than nerfing and compromising, they should do a start over and buff what each AT is good at. So, a blaster will have better damage, but nothing else special. A tanker will have normal level attacks, but buffed shields, while a scrapper is the other way around. Technically, a tanker and a scrapper should be able to go toe to toe, as the better damage would dual with the better res/def, while the lesser sets even it out.
