Quote:Heh, probably not enough, I'm thinking.First question: Are you slotting your attacks for endurance reduction?
He's only level 27, and the slotting order doesn't reflect current slotting, but this is his Final SO/Vanilla IO build;

Quick tangent question; is the Damage AoE aura worth bothering with on a Scrapper, or not? If not, that will probably save me some endurance problems (haven't taken it yet, was pllaning to though).
The problem I have at 27 is that I pretty much have to exclusively use Soul, or else I'm constantly running out of endurance. I'm running the three basic armour toggles and combat jumping. I tend to turn CoD off when in combat, since otherwise it's just a massive end drain, I find.
Am I doing something wrong? =/ -
Heh, old news
They've been around since First Ward went live.
They use a magicked-up Resistance rifle with various energy effects. They can be quite a sod to fight, too.
I really, REALLY want the Resistance pants with that leg armour. So unfair that only NPCs get that kind of thing -
-
Quote:Yeah. I was half tempted to re-roll him as a /WP Scrapper, because those are pretty much idiot proof (and when it comes to builds and numbers I ain't in the top 10% >_< ), or to slot him more like a Brute (Acc and End red in attacks)Putting aside that Staff isn't as good for scrappers as it is for other three melee ATs (IMO), what I think is going on is a lot of lethal attacks (swords and guns) have -def, and destroy your Guarded Spin faster than you can stack it up. It wouldn't hurt DA to gain some def debuff resistance, perhaps in CoD, and I would like to see def debuff resistance available through IOs and Pools too. But that doesn't help you now. The only other thing that would help is getting close to the def cap, but that isn't really possible for a level 27 scrapper.
Once you get to 32, the resistance buff from Sky Splitter should solve the -def problem. However, that means using FoB instead of FoS, which means turning off toggles.
The Tank builds shown look awesome, but then again I'm not an uber fan of Tank damage. My Invul/Energy is solid as a rock, and can punch stuff pretty well, but it's slow going. Soloing the missions in DA without the NPC aid, while satisfying, also took a helluva long time -
Oh, gee, thanks, yeah, because I'm known for purposefully trying to corrupt data when all I have to go off are my own personal experiences and perceptions, and the fact that I find my /Dark scrapper to be annoyingly squishy at times...
*sigh* One of those mornings... -
Quote:One would like to remind you that We are perfectly capable of having Empires. Indeed, we had an Empire upon which the sun never set.Kingdom, Golden Girl, Primal Earth Kingdom. The Lady Grey is not some bare-*****, savage from some far off 'empire', she's a proper English Rose.
No crumpets for YOU, wot? -
Does anyone have a Staff/Dark Scrapper build that is equally 'Hnng' worthy? Defence and Resistances are all well and good on Tanks, given the better scale on them (Although that first build still makes me O_O I love my Invul/Energy to bits, but that thing looks like the wrath of a Dark God...)
But it's the Staff/Dark Scrapper that is making me =/ face at level 27. Yeah, he's good, but he seems way too squishy against standard S/L stuff, more so than any of my other Scrappers/Stalkers -

Quote:Did notice that, yeah. That doesn't help.I only scanned the thread quickly but has anyone mentioned that Dark Regen is bugged and uses the wrong animation? On the live servers Dark Regen is using the Old Unyielding animation. Dark Regen roots you for close to 3 seconds, the animation DR should be using did not root you and didn't last anywhere near 3 seconds.

Quote:Agreed.Extrapolating this trend in forum background art, I predict that next year's revamp will feature Percy Winkley facing off against some Battalion minion.
'Cuz remember, kids! The game is all about YOU, not our most recent update!
Ugh. With the lack of a 'none-of-the-above' option, I've gone with the least offensive #1. -
Even then, you still end up sucking endurance like no ones business. Sure, IOs and Alpha slot might help alleviate some of that, but given that Dark has seemingly lower resistances than other sets, no inherent KB resistance and relies on 'gimmick' toggles that are incredibly end heavy...
Frankly, I don't see why some of Darks toggles are so End intensive. Given how situational Cloak of Darkness is, why does it cost .52 base? And Cloak of Fear, with fear being pretty much useless except when solo (and even then it chops off your AoE potential)
The set really could use some examining and love, imo. -
When I want to 'socialise' I chat in channels. Or go to Pocket D to RP. Or to a SG base where friends are.
The market is NOT a 'social' hotspot. End of. -
Quote:We are in agreement, oh squirrely Guiness-drinking oneNope I won't argue with you about that. That's why I was careful to direct my comments to what was done to AP/Galaxy
Agreed 110%.
I just hope when/if they do replace the old content they add an equal amount of story lines to what they are removing. -
Quote:Point of order, the majority of us argued for equality in as much as male/Huge got a cowboy outfit and the female model got a saloon girl outfit. I was one of the most vocal about that whole farce, and I certainly didn't ask for 'Never give Male/Huge' nothing unique ever again.Sorry Zyph, that's what passes for "gender equality" in this game with regard to costumes. Those who wanted female toons to get everything the male and huge models had IN ADDITION TO their own special parts cried, shouted, pleaded, and demanded under the guise of "gender equality" until the developers finally gave in. How having more options than others is equality, I don't know. But I doubt it's going to change any time soon, so you might as well resign yourself to having fewer options because you decide not to make a given character female.
Apologies in advance for any thread derailment that might happen because of this post.
I just objected to Male/Huge getting what seemed like the 'real deal' of a pack, and all my female characters getting the 'sexified' version.
Anyway, we've been there, done that, and it may eventually lead to another thread down the line if the pendulum swings too far the other way... -
Brace yourselves. Alpha rant is coming...

Quote:This is good to hear. Given how well some of the current NPC port items have been used, I really think this is a trend that needs to continue. Plus, what comic/superhero story isn't complete with characters who either use the enemies gear against them, take trophies, or are defectors of the enemy group?Thank you for all the input and responses ^_^ I have made a list thus far. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding it.
Please keep this to character related ie: Costume parts and weapons-(aesthtics only).
Feasible (Depending):- NPC ports - Since they are NPC's most are made specifically for that and will not work in the Costume creator, for future we are keeping this in mind so we may be able to port over NPC parts that will work in the Creator. So some may work and some may not, it would be a case by case situation.
Also, given we can make Arachnos and Praetorians, but not Longbow, the other MAIN NPC group going, I stand by my suggestion earlier. That stuff should have been ported ages ago...
Quote:Not Feasible at this time due to technical limitations: - Going back and re-working old assests (We need to keep moving forward)
- Holsters, sheaths, etc (Unless they are empty or weapon contained will be rigid)
To be frank, the Dev team have been told, time and time and TIME again, how much players want Holsters and Sheaths. The general consensus has always been that not two hoots are given if the weapons do or do not vanish from them a la Maelstrom. This has been said to death, and it is really disappointing that people have apparently not been taking note.
And as for the not going back and re-working old stuff....
I....ok....calm, Alpha, calm...don't rage at the nice Dink.
Let me put this as succinctly as possible. The Dev team as a whole seems unable to grasp the need, not want, NEED to revamp old content, whether it is zones, enemies or graphics.
Right now, the Character creator is a hodge-podge mess of stuff. You have the old, cruddy, pixelated and polygonal legacy content with bad texturing, bad design and general so-so-ness. Yes, people are fond of bits of it, hell, so am I! And alongside them you have the newer, shiny, HD parts that are better rendered, have less obvious polygons and square edges, better definition...
You compare those two side by side, and you get a huge and horrible disconnect. Not as big as the disconnect that (oh hell, I need caps for this);
REVAMPING IS NEW CONTENT, AND IS THUS IMPROVING AND MOVING OLD STUFF FORWARD
I don't get why the Devs have this gorramn phobia of updating old junk that is in dire need of it, but I've long since lost patience with it. So sue me...
Quote:Noted for possible consideration, however not at this time: - More Animal parts ie: Reptile, Primates, Insectoid, Bear, Fox, etc...
- Muscular females (Looking into)
- Bomber Jacket
- More high res Faces no Normal Mapping
- Hairstyles (30's, 40's, etc)
- Cloth belts, more folds (Dynamic cloth)
- New Masks (Many themes and 3d)
- Sashes
- Jodhpurs
- Hats
- Jewelry
- Skull masks ported to male for Jackets
- Quiver
- More Montrous options
- More Hoods
- Tattoos (But they would be mirrored)
- Multiple tails
- Bandoleers
- More of everything O_O
Quote:Themed Costume set ideas - Plant
- Egyptian
- Native American
- Mythological Creatures
- Aliens
- Ghosts
- Warworks
- Fantasy
- Tactical
- Aviator/Pulp
- Sports
Thanks for the feedback so far, and please keep the suggestions coming!
So, yeah, sorry for the rant, but certain things I feel strongly about. Thanks for being awesome, Dink -
Quote:That's funny T_A, cuz I feel the same way about the new content. I wish to god the devs hadn't castrated the origin content in the starter zones and left players with no options but to farm DfB's or run those mindnumbingly boring Matthew Habashy/Twinshot crap.
The old stuff may have been run thousands of times but at least it gave me the illusion of variety and different scenery. When I got tired of AP, I could switch to Galaxy.
The new Atlas Park content reminds me of Kalinda/Burke and that boring linear content path is exactly why I stopped playing redside, and Praetoria.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind them coming back around to the old contacts and re-working them to have proper, full story arcs. That would be cool. Hell, I even re-worked one for Azuria in AE (since broken due to that fething filter meaning I can't re-publish Dicing with Devils and Death) which focused on the Hellion-Skull war spilling over into Atlas, and had you fighting an upgraded Marrowsnap. It got pretty positive ratings, until AE broke itself...bloody thing. Bitter, why do you say that?
But please let's not pretend that the old mission chains (not arcs, arcs have coherent stories with a point...) were any good. I'm sorry, but a chain of Defeat All, Fed-Ex and Hunt missions might have been fine in 2004 but it sure as hell won't cut it these days. Praetoria, cheaty as hell mobs and spambushes aside, set the bar for mission design and story and it set it damn high. The old stuff did NOT meet that in any way shape or form.
So, yes, Atlas and Mercy might be a bit more linear than they once were. Adding more contacts in to that would be good, although I get the feeling that won't happen, given the Dev's apparent phobia of redoing ANYTHING without at least a 3 issue run up...
But Kings, Steel Canyon, Skyway....they are old, grotty and currently wasting space. Just from personal observation I would hazard that that view is fairly common. -
Quote:Funny, because once I'm out of the starter zones my reaction is to want to skip to 22, especially Blueside, because the legacy content is so mind-numbingly BAD.Take that away and I'm simply going to join the people asking for a "skip to 20" button because you're essentially ruining my early game.
Do you see where the other side is coming from, Sam? And the whole 'my game' thing is starting to feel a bit...well, it's not helping, lets put it that way. -
Quote:Come on, Sam, that first line is an utter contradiction and you know it. It's irrelevant, I say it's bad?Whether it's good or not is irrelevant. The new Atlas Park is that bad that ANYTHING is better. It has ONE contact chain with a small handful of missions, they're all "fancy" and the zone lags like hell on every machine I have access to aside from my main rig. I'm not that picky about my missions being REMARKABLE in some way. I'm perfectly fine with the rather bland narrative of Kings Row. What bugs me is when missions start trying too hard and failing just as hard at it, and that's Atlas Park in a nutshell, pretty much - mostly outdoor stuff, mostly a theme park ride intended to wow and impress, mostly the kind of stuff I don't care to run more than once.
Besides, I'm sick and tired of content I like being "improved" into oblivion. It's already made my starting experience a lot less compelling. I'd rather it didn't make my 5-10 experience just as bad.
From my point of view, now. Old Atlas had NO story. There was no real arcs there, mini-arcs at the very, very best. There was so much filler it was choking, and a lot of it was 'go click this plaque' or 'Go see Wincott' or the Security Chief or Hunt 10 Clockwork.
The legacy content was ALL Defeat Alls or Hunts of Fedexes. And you might like that but, playing your own card here, I hate, hate, HATE the legacy content. It is so damn mind-numbing, repetetive and boring. If there is any worthy plot there at all, it's buried under carbon copy missions, fed-exes and crow-barred in Hunts because the designer clearly couldn't think of anything better to put there.
And it also lacks even the illusion of choice. The new content gives you choice. You can start off from the get go as a true blue Hero, a budding Vigilante, or a mixture of the two. I, frankly, think that is a vast improvement over being errand running schmuck #10226.
Yes, the outdoorsy nature of Atlas and Mercy does get mildly annoying at times (and Mercy got it worse, with those damn double figure Longbow hunts) but the Devs gave their reasons for that; Door missions took up more space and processing power, or the like, and for such a small window of content they deemed it better to save that stuff for later on. I might not like it, but I can understand it. And, hey, at least I can tell what the goldang plot of Mercy and Atlas is meant to BE now, rather than sitting thinking "What the hell was the point of any of that junk?"
You say the New stuff is bad. I say the Old stuff was boring, samey tripe. Impasse. -
Ok, while I think about it;
-'Longbow' tights pattern. This would be a direct copy of the tights pattern all Longbow wear, with the baked in Freedom Phalanx system. If you look, ALL the NPCs already use the exact same pattern, with the exact same two-colour system. I see NO reason that can't work for PCs.
-The Longbow helmet, seen above on Wardens.
-Longbow chest detail, i.e. the grenade bandoleer worn by Sergeants/Nullifiers.
-Longbow Jetpack.
-'Longbow' belt that includes the hip pouches as well as the belt itself. Basically the 'Stealth' belt, with a bit extra.
Again, I can't see any way those parts can cause problems, given they already obey all PC rig rules as it is... -

Quote:Wh.....th.....As an alternative starting zone or as the follow on from Atlas, Kings Row needs a revamp, graphics and content - probably the only gemoetrical changes would be the newer style trees and bushes, but the old building and street textures should be switched for sharper higher resolution ones.
Content-wise, the old launch content there can be shifted to Ouroboros, and replaced with the new post-GR style of dynamic joined-up storytelling - maybe with a slight increase in the level range of the zone.
Positron has mentioned that he's had his eye on a KR revamp to make the transition from Atlas smoother, so I think that there's a pretty good chance that it'll be getting some kind of improvement eventually.
Who are you, and what have you done with Golden Girl?!
That all made sense! And there were no smilies!
...Me Gusta < _ > -
Quote:Sam, I think you are pretty firmly in a minority that thinks Old Atlas/Kings/Legacy content is actually good, and not a godawfully boring and repetitive mess with all vestige of story buried beneath terribad mechanics, or lack thereofI'm completely AGAINST touching Kings Row. It's not that zone that's in a pinch, it's Atlas Park. The new Atlas Park is horrendous and a place I run out of as son as I can, so I can run Kings Row as soon as I can. I'll usually street-sweep until level 5 because the LFG queue does not work, and then ship off to KR to run Scanner missions and get a contact that way. Atlas Park is bad enough, I seriously do not want to lose one of my last few viable options.
I firmly believe that the developers need to stop "fixing" zones that are already just fine and they need to stop removing content I like and replacing it with the kind of stuff that pollutes Atlas Park. If they want to revamp zones, let them revamp hazard zones that have no content in them. -
Pet A.I. is so broke...makes me sad. No idea when/IF it will ever get fixed, but dear lord does it NEED fixing...
-
I like Samuraiko's suggestion better.
