Your character concept would make more sense as a person in training to become a Vanguard Soldier. Something along the lines of "Susan has had enough of the damn Rikti raids, so with her assault rifle, she's going to defend the integrity of the dimensional boundaries." When her "training" is complete, she'll have a full uniform and she'll have earned the Rail Rifle she so deserves.
However, that back story still works if it's a global unlock that you first get access to at level 35.
-You can still get into the RWZ at level 1
-You can fight Rikti Invasions at level 1
-Vanguard HAVE got the budget. They clearly have the manpower, and the money to outfit them. They are UN funded to fight back an entiure alien invasion. It'd be bloody stupid to have them under budgeted, neh?
So, that arguement makes no sense at all. -
Hah, I actually had a dream about the exact same thing happening ages ago.
The whole of Sharkhead was quaking, and pretty much the entire Arachnos army was formed up on the beaches. Mako was busy posing around, explaining how he had everything hand...
Until a giant wave, followed by a titanic, scaled body did the old sea-serpent arch in the sea by the beach.
At which point Makos facade shattered
A mini-Leviathan spawn would be mega awesome, I have to say. Or a coralax sea-serpent Boss that showed up more often. Many mini-Levi's, maybe? -
Still no reply from CB, so I figured I'd better not just have Nightwalker stand around doing nothing. Some reply to his offer would be cool soonish, though

The last word was delivered to the Ferals, the dark eyes flaring and the air around them becoming noticeably leaden, intimidating. Wether it was enough to unsettle them and force them back was another matter. -

Poison Ivy doesn't even need to be overt. We could simply see Pamela Isley working on some project and have a voiceover of a harsher voice which would represent the Ivy persona. Kind of like the way that things were done in the 'Rose & Thorn' features in older comic books.
I concur, though, that Nolan's more serious approach to the Batman movies should be unadulterated.
Arkham Asylum anyone? The versions of characters shown in there are pretty damn good, IMO. -

Besides, each one of the DeFeurards can use 'Dimension Door' (not actual dimension hopping, but thats the name of the spell cookies for getting the reference I know of) and all three combined is quite a lot of magic.

"Can't hurt to look around. I'm sure Maria won't get us in too much trouble..."
The last comment earned him a none too gentle punch on the shoulder, one Lawrence returned in kind. Leon smiled, turning to Emerald as the two headed off, beginning to bicker already.
"Kids, eh? Now then...I wonder if I could entice you with dinner, m'lady, after all that rushing around?" -
Have got into the past few Betas without email and without the newsletter activated. Until I see conformation of that, I'm gonna treat it sceptically.
And yeah, Servere lives up to his name when it comes to attempted character assassination. GG may occasionally have moments of being a bit samey, but she's also got some funny moments, and is generally cheerful and welcoming to new forumites. I also tended to 'spam' the forums when I was in the past Betas because, hey, I type fast, and I found bugs and feedback/opinions to voice. Go figure, I guess. -

T'be honest, I think Nolan will still pull it off whoevers in it. Unless it does the way the first set of Spiderman movies went, in that two times the charm and three is the breaker. Which'd suck... -

Tomb was sick, not in the mental or social sense of the word, nor in the early nineties use of the word, no Tomb was physically sick, several times. Being jerked around at high speeds had done nothing for her stomach, especially as she’d been able to see the tentacles of the Entrophic nightmare spouting up around the island.
Wiping her mouth on her sleeve she staggers towards the submarine, whether it would take her to freedom or incarceration she no longer cared, as long as she was off the island.
The shadowy form of Nightwalker stepped out, and then stepped out again, taking a form beyond that of an oily shadow. Heavily armoured black boots stepped forward, followed by a towering body clad in dark indigo and black plated armour. The black hood and sweeping cape, held in place in part by the arching black shoulder plates, turned to Tomb, briefly revealing the eyes like the sparks of dying stars.
The figure bowed to her, before extending a hand to her.
"I have an offer to make, Miss Tomb. One that would see your talents put to excellent use, with no restraints. All that I ask is that you come with me, and let me take you away from here."

Due to the lack of them actually doing anything, and wishes to withdraw characters from the thread, the DeFeurards are offski. No objections, I hope, given they weren't actually up to much.

With that, the three DeFeurards extended their left hands, palms open. The air warped and split, a faint, see-through door appearing in mid-air. It was like a house door, simple and un-painted, just wide enough to allow one person. Lawrence opened it, stepping aside with a slight bow to Maria, which was returned as she stepped through into the hazy beyond. Lawrence followed as Leon took a hold of the door, holding it open for Emerald.

"I think we may have out stayed our welcome on this rock," he muttered to Emerald with a light squeeze of the hand. "And, while I'm sure we both dislike unfinished business, perhaps we should let the others have their little gad-about while we excercise the better part of valour..."
Maria and Lawrence already looked set to go, glancing around from time to time. The Island was starting to get on their nerves and, more importantly, their senses. The sooner they were shot of it and all the madness going on here, the better. -
