They feature in one of the random radio missions iirc, where you have to save the reporter.

Thanks for the review! Yes it seems my other arc can't be edited now, though if you ever do find yourself playing it I'm always happy to get feedback regardless. Anyway I'll just reply to a few of your comments:
Quote:Yes, that's an odd bug that I haven't figured out as to what's causing it. Perhaps a name change will fix that, since I need to edit the name spacing you spotted anyway, that's a holdover from a previous writeup.(Note: not sure why Dancing Squealer's name ended up appearing in her dialog balloon in this screen shot. The other squealers did not have this problem.)
Quote:Mission title: Should "The Yellow Duke" perhaps be "The Duke in Yellow"? (Assuming this is a Lovecraft reference.)
Quote:[-0.1] Inconsistent: "To Do List" lists 4 tasks to stop the colony. Mission objectives says "7 tasks to stop the colony". Does not compute.
I think I actually prefer breaking down the tasks into "Defeat boss, 4 charges to place, Destroy Book, etc." rather than accumulating 7 very different actions into one generic "7 tasks to stop the colony (check 'To Do' clue for details)"; it gives more clarity on what objectives are left. But this is more personal taste. Having to add "(check 'To Do' clue for details)" negates most of the space savings you gained in the nav tool for combining the objectives together.
Quote:[-0.1] Don't understand: why is it necessary to bring the book and the barrel of acid to the Coralax lair, only to destroy it? I could have simply dropped the book in the barrel of acid back at Krylov's lab. "To Do List" tries to explain this as needing the book as a "bargaining chip", but I don't buy this explanation.
Also thanks for capturing those rather embarrassing grammar errors, and all the other good suggestions I haven't directly mentioned. -

Quote:Maybe it's just me, but I always find the act of jolly-getting to make any sentence sound more rude than it should be.I am not some arc critic sitting on my golden throne getting my jollies from beating your work into submission.
On topic though, I've got Mercytown #6017 that is a villainous arc for the lvl 1-10s, and I've got a dev choice A Penny For Your Thoughts #348691 that is heroic for lvl 20s. Ratings and comments are always welcome. -
I've played a few arcs that had the Kif Kroker syndrome before. While it might be funny to see Kif constantly being berated by his under-appreciative boss, some writers seem to forget that there's a difference between looking through the window and sympathising or having a moment of schadenfreude on Kif's suffering, and actually having to experience an under-appreciative boss, which is made only worse when the player has no way to retaliate beyond just quitting the arc,

Quote:Me too, the end of FFvTR pretty much states that they wanted to make a sequel, but since Irrational had a runaway hit with Bioshock and then got bought out, it seems the prospects of finally seeing the sequel are looking slim.Oh my, look at that!
Steam's running ANOTHER deal on the Freedom force pack. Get it all for amazing 2 this weekend. That's some serious bang for the buck my friends!
(And it was fun talking to some of ya again yesterday, might actually log on some day just to try on that ITF madness once again.)
I sooo wish they made another FF game, but to my PS3! :-) -

Quote:Basically any custom chars that have standard/standard difficulty for their powersets will reward 75% regular xp. If they're set on hard/hard or higher then you would be rewarded with full xp. Most arcs will use standard/standard for their customs, as otherwise the mobs can get pretty ridiculous. If an arc uses regular mobs like the one you see in game then they should reward full xp like normal.1. How can I tell if mission is going to give me "regular" xp or the smaller percentage that seems to go along with some AE missions? I've read it has something to do with custom toons but don't really know what that means.
Quote:2. Can anyone recommend any that are duo or even solo friendly?
Think a few have compiled some lists in that other board I mentioned, though if you just start a thread there asking for arcs and your level, I'm sure they'll be plenty of authors there who will be happy to oblige. -
Not at all, just recently made my first Ill/Rad and I'm enjoying it.
When GR comes out I'll likely make one DP and one DS char, though their concepts haven't been set in stone. I'm going to wait until we get a look at what the powers are actually like, before deciding what power and theme to pair it with.
Oh, and count me as excited to start in Praetoria, or more precisely as a member of the loyalists. I'll be the guy charging into rebel scum, while shouting "FOR THE EMPEROR" and other DoW phrases. -
It does sound like a few people can't do weekends. I can do Wed nights, possibly even Mon, Tue or Fri if that is more accommodating.

Thanks for the review, glad you guys liked it.

2pm Sunday GMT, though if other peeps have another times they would prefer by all means speak up.

- Multi-arcs are seen as a HUGE time investment. Your normal 5 arc mission will likely clock into a hour, so with multi-arcs players start seeing 2+ hours investments, that you can only take a break when each arc ends.
- The longer an arc goes on, any minor annoyances a player may have will only be magnified, as well as picking up any other annoyances to add to that pile.
- The longer your arc goes on, the bigger the pay-off players will expect at the climax of the story as well as the overall quality of the arc to validate that commitment. If after all that they come to a rather disappointing conclusion, or worse they only trudged through your arc out of stubbornness to see it through to the end, then feelings when it's time to rate your arc really isn't going to be great.
- Players are lazy. We don't want to have play an arc knowing we have to go search for the other half later, when we can just pick up a complete story within a single arc and get our kicks from that.
Quote:Then make the writing "epic", use large maps, with lots of objectives, and more importantly figure out just what it is exactly that you want to tell, and make every single word, objective, and mission count. As it is, the one I'm working on pretty much has to be huge. Not specifically because of the story, but because it needs to feel massive. It's basically the player in a war to bring down Malta by any means neccesary, and managing to do that in four or five missions just wouldn't feel right. -
Yeah, can't do that in MA right now. Hopefully they'll fix that oversight in the next MA update.
There was a thread on this not long ago, you can check it out here if you want to try a workaround for the time being. -
Are you sure both hostages are guarded by an enemy and not set to "single", as that setting means that the ally is left alone and therefore, needs no rescuing.
-
Quote:Not as such. Basically we'll just be picking various arcs to play and have fun with. The advantage to this superteam being we can play AE without feeling pressured that we need to rush past the story, or find arcs to cater to teammembers who are only in it for "teh expees". Oh and also so we can heckle the arcs MST3K style, but don't let the authors know that *shhh!*.Forgive the newbishness, but is that easy to get to for a character that is say, Level 1-5? Though I may have misunderstood the premise :S This is to form a team of players that intend to Level from 1-50 together only on MA right?
Levelwise you can pretty much bring anything since everyone gets auto-sk'd, though I should give a fair warning that I've taken a peak at the guest arcs descriptions, and they all look like you should ideally have a SO slotted char before attempting any of them. -
We'd do it in RWZ, so faction-wise it won't be a problem.
-
Giving a nod to WN's own superteam, I was wondering if there would be any interest for one EU side. With the new guest author arcs announced, it seems like a good time to drum up some general interest, using those arcs as the jumping in point.
As for details, all my stuff is on Onion, and I probably won't have time to get one organised till next week. Though if there's interest we can flesh out the details.
Edit: D'oh! Just realised that Av is planning to make a run of the arcs tommorow, I somehow missed that on my first scan of the lists. :/ -
For those who don't know, the Triumph servers have their own MA superteam which is basically a bunch of guys and girls who get together to play some story-focused AE arcs. With the new guest author arcs announced, I was wondering if there would be any interest of starting our own for EU side, using the Guest Author arcs as a jumping point.
All my stuff is on Onion though, and I probably won't have time to get one organised till next week. Though if there's interest we can flesh out the details.
Edit: Made a main thread for it on the MA boards here.

Each guest author entry has a fairly large "about the author" section with it if you click on it. That and you know, wiki is your friend.

Quote:To be a bit more precise though, he worked as a writer for Looking Glass Studios (the good one), which means he's also credited for having a hand in Deus Ex amongst others. If that makes some people still go "huh?" Then they should feel bad.Austin is a game designer who has worked on a bunch of stuff, and also wrote the supervillain novel Soon I Will Be Invincible.
Anyways it's cool to hear that you guys are roping in more outside writers to give MA a try. I just hope that they can adjust to the medium well, as there are plenty of critics who will tear their arcs apart otherwise, though I'm just kidding of course.
...Half-kidding anyway. -
Quote:A bit off-topic, but noticing that you seem to be a fan of CK lore, you might be interested in giving my arc A Penny For Your Thoughts (in my sig) a shake. It isn't "romantic", but it does explore the relationship between CK and Penny.... though guys can chime in too. ;-)
I have this ... friend. Let's call him "CK."
Now "CK" likes this girl he knows, but he can't seem to make the leap from LJBFs to potential romantic interest. She just doesn't seem him as a guy she would date ...
Well, okay. She just sees him as a couple of eyes and a brain floating in lime jello on top of a big rusty metal chassis, but ...
He's tried all the usual things to impress a girl ... shower her with gifts-- how many other girls do you know in Paragon who have wind up guardians?!-- try to help out her Dad by lending aid to some heroes-- prove his devotion by leading an army of his faithful minions to rescue her from the Rikti ...
But she just don't seem interested...
So what do you think, ladies? Is "CK" stuck forever in the friends' zone or is there any way he can change her mind about him ... short of mental coercion or altering time with a Psychronometron?
Valentine's Day is fast approaching! "CK" could use some new ideas!
