OK, example; you're a less than scrupulous player and decide you want to get your PvP rating up as fast as possible. The zones are next to emply as they usually are but there's two opponents on. You compare their ratings. 1 is the top 5, the other is WAY down the bottom. If you're wanting an easy kill, who are YOU going to go after?
This is not to suggest all or even the majority of regular PvPers would do this, but there are people who WILL use the list to their advantage and perhaps at the expense of the people who're just getting their feet wet in PvP.
If anyone's in any doubt of the existence of these people go see the thread about kill stealing.
[/ QUOTE ]
The example you use doesnt stand since there is no rep awarded after the first kill for quite a long period of time. -
actually i not think anyone really separates people by their pvp ranking on this game. Since there is no direct indicator of high ranking toons inside the game like WoW has. You not need the ranking to see a new to pvp player. I would like to see an ingame ranking system and ranks appear over the character so that people can prioritize to players they need to focus in taking out in the pvp zone. Right now the system works just fine since you dont get any rep by ganking more than once on the same player which i think works wonders.
-
[ QUOTE ]
I can see a ranking system as a bad idea as its going to give a very graphic representation of whose a regular pvper, whose a casual and whose a beginner (or at least, not very good).
Can we guess how some ppl would use that information to their advantage?
[/ QUOTE ]
uh no?please explain. Cause right now with a ranking system and the creation of RoC i can only see personally advantages except the part of people maybe segregating according to pvp ranking -
[ QUOTE ]
Big question is will the higher level pvp zone be FFA ?
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with this and hopefully the devs wont come up with an FFA for Recluse Victory but make it a faction conflict or world conflict of good against evil. High level pvp will be the bread and butter for pvping and if the devs take proper advantage of it they have the chance of creating something really good. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh and we did the 8 man troller team again in sirens and cleared the zone, hopefully some team dynamics will arise on the villain side soon as it was painful to watch
[/ QUOTE ]
We already pulled team like that 3 times now...well not much to say except we cleared the zone in couple of minutes.....and it was without all level 50 trollers..but a level mix...if we sit down and properly get an all level 50 troller team fully speeced for pvp uh i think it will be insanity... -
[ QUOTE ]
nah because it would just make certain other community members only think about there pvp ranking and to hell with the rules and general feeling making for very unhappy new players and community at large.
or something like that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually it would make pvp more competitive and give people initiatives to enter the zone and pvp. The majority of the ones entering now the zones are there to farm and to get SO's which is at least pathetic. The truly pvp regulars have no initiatives to pvp other than their own enjoyment and certainly there is no potential to attract people in the zones to pvp. Other games have ranking systems and special rewards for being good at pvp that are non interfeering with pve part of the game such as special rank emotes and signature moves that give reasons to many non pvpers to enter the pvp zones and get addicted. Generalising about rules etc since currently there is no RoC i not think anyone knows any rules not even the devs themselves. So give us initiatives to truly pvp and dont let the pvp zones be farm areas for pve. PvP areas should be competitive to attract people as its in the human nature to compete and try excel. Right now they are just places where we randomly kill each other. -

Word advice to all stalkers. Start speccing in tp. Makes fleeing easier...
[/ QUOTE ]
I need no stinking TPAdmittedly it would be nice but my my build doesnt have the space for 3 travel powers or the real need for it, I gotta die sometime
[/ QUOTE ]
u not need cause u picked wisely enough your secondary -
[ QUOTE ]
Think you misunderstand what im saying ^^ im saying the target flees not the stalker why would a stalker flee from an AS'ed target ?
[/ QUOTE ]
No you misunderstand me...the things is any stalker that complains about targets fleeing is a newbie in pvp as for ASing people try come AS an experienced pvper and not the usual lonely unsuspecting preys out there and we see who runs. There is not a single stalker out there who hasnt fled yet so if u feel lucky look me up and i can train you how to run when u get feared toggle dropped and slowed..and not forget put in a nice cossy corner where you cannot fleeWord advice to all stalkers. Start speccing in tp. Makes fleeing easier
...The AS part try speaking to some of the experienced stalkers out there and see how many of them land AS on experienced pvpers. They actually are forced to rely on impale and crit dmg more to get their work done. ASing an experienced pvp team is simply laughable and is not going to happen unless something goes wrong to the team. And dont start on me the 1vs1 usual excuses that stalkers come up with. PvP zones are not for 1vs1.When i come in there i come with my team and prepared.

Best villains are the same people who have the best heroes. PvP is 75%-80% Skill. Most show only 20-30% of what a build because they never find out what their build can really do.
The questions are; Why can 95% of the tanks out there not hold any aggro? Why does blaster insist that range is the only way to go. Why do empaths only heal, why does 50% of the illusion controllers not use phantom army for initial aggro? and so on. These people who "fail" in PvE I also see trying to win PvP against people who can solo invinv missions set for 3-4 people with a blaster.
Plight Trawler is a guy I have much respect for, he is one of the few people I have meet that truely knows the limits of his build. Do you guys think he found these limits by being afraid of getting debt, by not experimenting. He is one of the few guys I know that has tried to solo AVs with a blaster, he lost but he kept trying. (Im also gonna try, and Im sure as hell gonna reach debt cap before I give up). The guy is worth 2-3 normal blasters.
Stop looking for uber builds and start being the best. Perhaps the uber build isnt discovered, cause you wanna be PvPers are trying to dublicate some others peoples playstyle instead of finding your own.
[/ QUOTE ]
can u plz stop making me quote you for ubah comments like this...couldnt agree more...as for plight despite his insane mind he is worth as a whole team of blasters together..
-
the hit and run tactics is totally viable since the hide is the basis of all stalkers since in toe to toe combat the stalkers are simply cannon fodder. However listening stalkers saying "ROFL NOOB WHY U RUN" when every single stalker out there runs is simply laughable. Any decent pvper out there takes stalkers for breakfast...best example the highest ranking bounties in sirens on hero side right now are not scrappers or tankers that can stand the stalkers damage but my controller and imaginary blaster....2 squishies. Hearing some stalkers complain that the others run simply is biggest joke ever.

sure the stalker is powerful we do a AS and the enemy goes like w00t [censored] [censored] and we go like ROFL NOOB and then he either panics or run away or die.
[/ QUOTE ]
OMG How true is that
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats so very not true. Stalkers currently are the number 1 AT exhibiting fleeing behaviour within the pvp zones which is only natural due to their build or inability to properly play the class for many out there. If you hear anyone say he has a non fleeing stalker in pvp prolly
a) he is part of a constant team that keeps attention off stalker
b) the stalker has smelled some hollows mushrooms and is hallucinating
Even the top ranking server stalkers which happen to be best stalkers out there (obot, momma and hack it and Dmonique) flee when they stalk. And thats priority. Survive to come back only stronger...The rest is air talk -
i still think there should be a variety in PvP. Bloody bay Set up would be ideal for a capture the flag style pvp and Warburg or Sirens King of the hill. With the current powersets and amount of pvp cooperation that pvp requires the zones would fill up with fun very fast. Adding rewards like rank emotes according to reputation and possibly a league and ranking table would increase popularity of the zones.

Spines also makes a silly noise when it hits, sort of like stepping in dogpoop.

Stormies have never really bothered me, especially when their toggles drop as I drain their endurance.
[/ QUOTE ]
cause u know what you doing kay...I dont really think you could fool anyone as a player who plays by chance. I teamed with u and i know
-
storm is one of the wildcards of pvp...it takes a lot to master it and learn how to move and coordinate it with the team. People that think is all push top corners and is easiest thing to do well obviously have no clue are just newbies with know it all attitude. There have been seen a lot of stormies in pvp zones...things were not bright for all mainly exactly because of the fact that storm is a weird set to play in pvp. You end up in multiple roles...hold/slow/debuff which are the usual roles of the controllers as well as protect/escort and cannonball either soft teammates/critical targets or MM pets respectively.
As for stormies owning pvp well they dont its the players behind each set that owns and performs greately no matter what u play. But stormie owns all your melee....oh yes i forgot to say...hurricane is not an exploit so all the pvp newbies stop reporting hurricane as exploit.... -

For a 1v1 fight, Nothing will beat a Rad controller, In my experience
[/ QUOTE ]
omg so true....
However in pvp zones in terms of control u will wanna go ice/storm or earth/storm which is total control overkill
For damage an ill/rad or maybe a fire/kin or fire/storm *pokes nightbringer* -
[ QUOTE ]
That said one of my fondest PVP memories was one shotting your troller with my brute in BB after ODing on inspirations I was so pleased I had finally managed to hit you through that damn hurricane lol.
[/ QUOTE ]
Damn lol!i still recall that night in BB...lol i think i saw your Brute's head explode from yellow insps overdose right after lol...funniest thing was i saw u coming and thought that if u are coming so eagerly something must be wrong..damn i should have fled lol... -
After specing TG in full pvp build i discovered the following...AP is a must have for performing quick heals on team members getting AS on them...i rarely use outside pvp except when i wanna gracefully die in Atlas park....but in PvP zone AP roXx0rz the soXx0rz

Ahh, I knew */ninjitsu stalkers had something more after all! You won't knock their mez protection, as it's a clicky, not a toggle.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tbh i not bother with stalkers much since they pose no danger to me except obots stalkers which a pain. Usually i try deal with brawl with the brutes that are brave enough to step in hurricane. Is insane how useful brawl is when u set it on auto and have it 3 slotted for Acc -
[ QUOTE ]
(unfortunately i will need an empath with AB, group fly, preferably some SB from a kineticist and lots of hugs)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah and maybe a couple of girls *pokes LDF and Pyra* to gently blow wind on your forehead so you not sweat (if LDF makes a comment here...god help us). Or me in a maids outfit delivering cupcakes while u painfully try blast hamidon....damn you flakmonkey -
count us in as well...i can provide the healing tank team as well again..just pm me.

[ QUOTE ]
aye thats exactly how I meant it. People are overrating stalkers and for new players they are an easy way to learn the ropes of PvP. Of course until they find that one day where experienced PvPers enter the zone and they find out they are dead meat.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem is these players dont find out they are dead meat. They discover like new Marco Polo that the other players are exploiting cheating haxX0ring etc and a bunch of other excuses for their probably bad builds or tactics and inexperience which is only natural. Then they pile petitions asking the exploits to be removed such as tp foe, hurricane, tactics, yellow insps, googles, perception buffs and all the powers and everyone is left with brawl. And then once u start using brawl on auto and they see their toggles gone cause you have it 3 slotted with acc on auto they start complain more and give u abuse. Thats whats the most annoying thing about stalker villains out there (cause the majority of these comments comes from stalkers that cannot believe how they are seen or killed), not that there are not heroes that provide such abuse to other villains etc but the majority of new player base comes from CoV and occurances like this come from the other side. The usual PvPers show courtesy, good fun and always put up a good battle and some good and funny trashtalking sessions for the fun of it in the zones...*pokes gandrel and Gimpy*
