  1. But levitate isn't one of them
At least not in PvE. Mesmerize keeps a foe out of the entire fight with a single application. Levitate doesn't. Purely from a control standpoint, that makes mesmerize superior IMO. Damagewise levitate may be better (I'm not even sure, is it?) but the damage is still mediocre compared to your secondary attacks.
But in PvP it may very well be better indeed, I dont know about that.

    Brute for PvP

I'm actually also interested in this subject. I've seen some insanely powerfull EM/DA brutes, but they also use a lot of end, and mostly, dark just isn't really my thing. I also heard a suggestion of EM/EA...how does this do in PvP? Is it truly equal to EM/DA or do they just have better end but still lack the toughness of an EM/DA?
  3. Exactly. Any team that doesn't understand this isn't worth staying in. See? There is no problem
  4. Definetely sounds cool. I couldn't make it (never can on saturdays) but I hear union heroes have a weekly 9PM meeting on tuesday? Would be fun if there was at least something regular (not necesarily weekly) on the villain side. But not on saturday!!! :P
  5. I disagree there. Mesmerize can effectively put a foe out of the entire duration of a battle. As a matter of fact you can keep 2 or 3 foes quiet the entire time. Levitate doesn't do that I think, at least not with as little applications of the power as mesmerize.
I suppose for PvP ends levitate may be more usefull, but for the early lvling I'd say mesmerize to keep more control.
  6. I have also recently started a Mind/Energy (nearly lvl 12 now) and I do have some minor pointers, altho I'm not greatly experienced myself:
I think you're lacking damage in the early lvls. Personally I skipped levitate and made sure I had both power blast and bone smasher and to me these are critical. I posted my build a few posts down if you're interested. I really am not lacking any control and without those 2 attacks, I cant see myself soloing effectively. It would just take too long to take stuff down. Power blast and bonesmasher represent about 2 thirds of your damage at this lvl. Sacrificing that really makes soloing a slow affair, or at least much slower then you could be. On top of this, the disorient of bonesmasher is a VERY good control effect. (for example, if a foe is slept and you dont have your hold ready, hit them with bonesmasher. If you miss they still sleep, if you hit they are probably disoriented and still cant touch you)
As for levitate, I think this can be skipped. Your secondary offers better damage, and the knockback may not be as good, it's still good enough.
  7. Is this still on? Maybe advertise this a bit on Union Leaders?
    Kosmos is ready

It's also true there are quite a few Corruptors who simply haven't a clue about their powers but this is also true of every other AT in CoV.

    Good point

    LFT!

Hmm interesting...with Kosmos I haven't soloed since lvl 4 or so, and I lvled him up in the past month. Although it is true that a lot of the time I was in an SG team (or at least part of it from my SG), so I suppose that does help a great deal.
  10. There is also far too many awful Kineticists. They forget to speed boost, dont even think of picking up ID, seem to use transfusion only to heal self. Stuff like that. Bah, if you roll a corruptor, keep in mind half of you is supposed to help the team!!! :P
  11. Hey guys,

I'm going to be rolling a Mind/Energy dominator very soon, and I wanted some opinions on my build. Dont mind the empty slots, I'll figure out how to divide them exactly later on.

One question: according to hero builder telekinesis repels and holds a foe. Is the hold part true? If I hit a foe with domination, total domination and telekinesis, will this stack as 3 holds?
    Any advice would be appreciated
  12. Well ID does protect against immobilize unlike you said, but not against slow. Then again, with speed boost in the powerset, I doubt that will be a real problem.
According to hero builder thaw and ID both last 60 secs. This makes them both rather useless for continuous coverage.
I agree, if somebody gets slept outside the heal range you cant wake him. But compared to the complete lack of knockback protection in thaw I'm willing to accept that. (if they get attacked they wake from sleep anyhow)
  13. What makes the mez protection better? They last equally long, and kinetics mez protection and thermal's are identical. Except kinetics doesnt protect from sleep and thermal does (but a simple heal will wake somebody from sleep anyways) and kinetics does protect from knockback while thermal's doesnt. That means stuff like CoT Mages with their continuous knockback AoEs will still have an effect on a thermal's team, but not on a kinetic's team. So how is it better exactly? (cause it seems to me the kin version is better)
Thermal's heal is only better if the team wont stick together at melee range. If it does, no thermal can equal a kinetic's heals. I'll give you the rez tho, there are times I wish I had it.

I will give you this tho, thermal is more userfriendly. It's much easier to support a team with a thermal then with a kinetic. I still think kinetics is better tho.
  14. Hmm...I disagree there. Thermal is the best healing set all round, no question, but its not the best all round support set. It's already been said, but I'll repeat it, there are no end buffs in thermal. Now, many builds may not truly need an end buff, but nearly every brute does. There are some rare brutes that dont benefit from one, but there are also many brutes that still move their end bar if I speed boost them.
Kinetics has heals, end buffs and debuffs, speed buffs and debuffs and damage buffs and debuffs. For all round support, I say we've got a winner :P (the downside is, people need to have the brains/guts to stay close to enemies)

    Patron Powers

It doesnt break sleep? Hey I didnt know that! (then again, I've only had the power for a few hours now) Sweeeet! :P

    You are missing something:
    1. Put group to sleep
    2. Walk into group
    3. Notice nobody is firing at you, have a smoke.
    4. Nova :P
  17. I disagree. lvl 37 still with just siphon speed!
  18. I got my energy/kin to lvl 36 right now (and will easily get him to 40 or even 50 later on) with just siphon speed. Inertial Reduction was (in my eyes) a waste.
True, when you enter new zones where everything is purple, you may take a long time travelling (get a TP teammate then :P) but most of the time you wont have issues. Especially once you reach SOs it's not very hard anymore. I 3-slotted for recharge and 2 slotted for acc. This way it hardly misses, and even if it does its back up in 30 secs. Ofcourse, my reasons for this slotting were combat-related, but it also makes it more usefull for travelling.

I say take advantage of the kinetics set, and only get the powers you REALLY want. I skipped Inertial Reduction because Energy/Kinetics has so much awesome powers, I just couldnt get a travelpower (even IR) when I essentially already had one in siphon speed.
Just one small addition: get hover. It protects you from knockback, which you really REALLY need and the only other way is acrobatics, which means getting 2 other powers from the leaping set, while hover can be taken instantly. It's not as good as acrobatics, but with siphon speed you still move at a great speed with hover (its actually easier cause otherwise your TOO fast in battle) and it does a good job of defending from knockback. Also, it helps you get up those ledges you just cant reach with jumping.

Sorry about the huge post. I just love */kinetics :P
  19. Apologies, I looked up the fulcrum shift thing and realised my mistake fairly quickly

    Union PvP Group

I'm not sure what VG you're in, but I dont think we have ever been beaten by a VG. We only drawed against EVIL, but if they'd re-match us we'd surely set that straight. (which is why they wont :P)
Maybe there's a potential raid here?
I like your idea, but dont you think the 10 extra lvls, the epic power pools and the accolade powers help the heroes just a little? Not to mention stuff like HOs and a whole lot of additional time to lvl their toons.
While I think it's a cool idea, I dont think it's the only way to match the truly powerful SGs.
Now, when do WE get to raid you? :P
  21. Thats not true. Siphon power is a personbased aoe buff, and fulcrum is based around your target as well as the person if I am correct? The ranged types miss out on heals and transference tho.

    Union PvP Group

I dont see how he has? What's being suggested is creating a VG with PvP characters. Did it occur to you that our VG has a great deal of PvP characters already? And that we dont want to move them to a different one?
How is this missing the point?
  23. Hehe I figured the dying mob not healing thing was intended. Cant drain much from a dead guy (didnt really add up tho, cause siphon power or speed will work fine)
I also target the guy I want to heal and not a mob very often, but with non-melee classes such as dominators for example, this often doesnt work. They dont always have their closest enemy targeted. My dominator buddy could be whacking the nearest boss on the other side of the room, ignoring the minion 2 feet away from him. So I do check my targets. (and yes, in my experience, this can be a life or death difference :P)

By the way Silent, it indeed is an interesting mix. One day you're healing and hardly get around to blasting, and the other day you're hardly healing and just shooting things up. And then there are those days where you have to do both. At the same time. Those are the fun days
  24. Well, I agree Kinetics can do an amazing job of healing, but it does require some skill. When you're all cracked up on 2 siphon speeds, and your entire team zips around the fight cause you speedboosted them, it can be difficult to target the right enemy for your heal. If you can manage this tho, you have just about the most powerfull heal available.
