That's great to hear - and like many have said, if you guys need anything don't be afraid to ask.

Playstyle differences are an everyday fact of life in online gaming. You might join an ITF and wonder why everyone is blitzing certain points and moving on as opposed to another team that cleared every living thing from each map before moving on. It's the way some people play and in your case it seems there was a disconnect between yourself and that team.
I wasn't on your team so I don't know how the mission panned out and what tells were sent - and quite honestly I don't care to know because it really isn't too important. You played a character in a fashion that wasn't clicking with the rest of the group for one reason or another. Not every team you meet up with will mesh well with your playstyle and vice versa. The polite thing to do is explain a difference in style when you see it's impeding your team or your fun - then let it go. If it isn't working just politely say so, thank the team for their mission, and drop out gracefully. If they berate you for some reason that you cannot fix then you should ... do the same thing, let them know their style isn't working for you, say thanks, and drop the team. Granted, if you're the main healer, the tank, etc.. you might give them the courtesy of a mission complete before doing so for the sake of karma.
Just remember a lot of the frustration and, at times anger, that people feel is because things aren't working out as intended and they want to fix the problem. Some do it better than others but the one thing to keep in mind is that every character you team with is someone sitting behind a monitor like you are and they deserve respect. Treat them as such and no matter how bad the team is doing you will always have fun.
Even if it leads to debt. -
Well I'm humbled to say it really didn't work out too terribly well.
I went with the 40" Samsung LED as a reference for what's to follow ...
Color was amazing, it was like playing the game all over again with the range and depth the new display gave me. I am amazed how good this looks across all the different games I play.
Sound was really nice although a lot of people ding the reviews because the speakers are facing back instead of forward. Mine is close enough to a wall that it didn't take too much away.
Resolution was the killer though - it was still only 1920x1080 and with the larger display it just wasn't as well rounded and smooth as I expected. It wasn't an epic fail, but it was close. I tried a DVI-HDMI cable and an adapter for my card but it made no real difference.
I will say that watching video on this TV is jaw dropping - it looks truly life-like.
Just thought I would throw this out there in case it helps anyone else! -
Welcome to CoH and, more importantly, Liberty server. I hope all your students have positive experiences here and they enjoy their time with us.

I was considering bumping my monitor (26") up to one of the new 40" Samsung LED's. I've played the game on my 46" plasma and it looks stupid good but because of the screen size it just isn't practical.
So I was wondering if anyone is playing on a 40" or above TV and how it's working out for them. -
It's great to know you are still expanding numbers and time together - congrats to all!
-
I don't think I've seen the word Liberty in this thread yet and it seems like Alt went out of his way NOT to mention my beloved home.
We're the official 'Nice Server' - lots of helpful people, SG's, and you get a nice warm fuzzy feeling with every alt you roll here.
I'm admittedly biased tho. -
I've felt the pain of getting the shiny base items in my solo-Sg. Actually, I haven't, but if your SG is a solo venture let me know. I'll gladly roll an alt on your server and park it in a mission for you if you want to rack up SK time.

Quote:Welcome back Fire .. and Ice too.Whats up Liberty? Some of you old folks may remember me, but it has a been a long while since I've had the pleasure of roaming the glorious streets of Paragon. Anyways, before I had taken leave I had moved my toons to Virtue in search of a higher population. With the latest news of free server transfers I am wondering how the population of my first home Liberty is doing. How difficult is it nowadays to form groups? I would really like to move my toons backto liberty and catch up with some old friends. Thanks in advance heroes.
Sincerely,

Quote:Grrrr. You will be greatly missed. It has been my good fortune to have enjoyed the pleasure of your company on teams. You were always good for a friendly chat and to lend a hand. You are the kind of player this community sorely needs.
The game is a sadder place without you. I hope we will see you again. Until then...
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
And wherever you go may the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand. -

Quote:It depends on how the farm is being run - but in general an all-Lt map is far superior to an all-boss map for the same reasons you gave. Here's an odd question for you number crunches with regards AE farming.
Now everyone wants to run 'boss farms' since it apparently awards the best XP.
Wouldn't lts of the same level as said bosses be better, aren't they in bigger groups and die quicker (nullifying the disadvantage inherent in not getting as much XP from a single kill) and also the group SHOULD die less (though...lets face it...not always)?
Therefore the Reward Per Minute ratio would be substantially higher than a boss farm?
It's just something I've wondered recently and not really found a topic to be able to post it in.
They die faster, they hit softer, and the risk is substantially less to whomever is killing, er ... arresting. I've been on boss farms that are amazingly fast and disprove the idea, but those are few and far between. I arrest solo on my farms so I much prefer the all-Lts but some folks like the all-bosses, I suppose it's their cup of tea.
Don't tell the noobs though, I love watching a team of 8 people under 20 join for a 50+ boss farm, usually you see them running the walk of shame from the AE hosp 2-3 at a time shortly thereafter. -
Quote:I don't think it's necessary - but I see the value others might find in it.With all of the great Booster packs and Veteran powers that are here already and those coming down the road I feel that it is time to allow us to have a Origin respec.
I have well over a hundred characters right now and most of them have the same Origin because in the past it really did not matter what you selected as your Origin. But here comes these great booster packs and even better emotes and veteran powers and low and behold I now have a reason to want to choose an actual Origin for the specific character.
Please give us missions to earn Origin respecs. No more than two respecs for each character.
Thanks for reading.

Quote:The problem is you continually equate AE farming and powerleveling with exploiting/cheating.And the changes are on-going. Every change to the AE because of the exploiters caused me to have to make changes to my non-farming/pl'ing arcs.
I agree that Nethergoat is fond of saying don't encroach on his game playstyle. At the same time, it is obvious that he could care less when his game playstyle affects others.
The difference between me wanting the AE farmer/plr's to stop exploiting the game isn't a matter of not wanting them to stop doing what they want to do -- it is a matter of stopping them from exploiting the game which cause changed to the game that effect my gaming experience because of their actions.
Even more so, I will also note that Nethergoat relies on directly insulting individual and groups of players in order to try to get a point across.
If Nethergoat is utilizing exploits in the game then he is cheating. So is everyone else that uses them. Doing things that are against the rules is cheating. The EULA is clear that we are not to use exploits; therefore, utilizing an exploit is cheating which means that anyone that is using exploits is a cheater.
This isn't harassment. It is a fact.
If you think that cheating is wrong, don't cheat.
Cheating affects other players.
Cheating is not a valid playstyle; if it was "valid" it would not be against the EULA.
It isn't.
Myself, and many others, openly post about what we've accomplished time/level-wise in AE and are not ashamed of being good at what we do. To date, I do not know of a single instance of a non-exploiter being punished by the Devs for doing what I so openly post about.
I haven't received so much as an email or PM to suggest what I am doing is "against the rules". I'm not hiding, I'm not being vague, and I'm not being shady about it.
I PL the living crap out of every alt I make in the AE/PI farms and nothing has ever, will ever, or should ever be done about it because as long as I pay my sub fees and use nice language on the forums they value me as a customer.
Just like they value you, and Nethergoat, and TonyV, and Perfect Pain, and cute lil Rachel - they want our money and could care less about our opinions. Quite frankly I think they like all of us bashing heads on the forums, Mod8 might not at times, but it means we have a vested interest in the game regardless of stance. And with that vested interest comes our cash.
And there goes another $.02 from me. -

So basically, "What happens in AE stays in AE".
Then what's the point of playing in AE? This is no better than just removing XP altogether.
Not A Good Thing.
If you want to get the Farming/PLing out of the starter zones, do something aimed at that. Don't throat cut those of us who enjoy using it as an alternate way to level, but don't PL.

And once again Neptune is in Venus and you find Tripp and I agreeing.
On some parts anyway.
