Foo captured everything about the theme this month and easily deserves the vote. I vote Foo, even though I love Shia as my hetero bromance partner.

It's a shame that you didn't win, but honestly it seems like quite a few people did in fact appreciate your work and effort enough to come and tell you that they believed in your costume. That's quite a nice thing to have, the appreciation from your fellow man.
But honestly, the experience itself was the important thing here. You lived out everything you could have at the con, so there will be *no* lamenting back to what might have happened or what could have been. No, Miss Cashoo, you in fact experienced the totality of what was to be had. You can always carry that with you now and your memories of the event are complete.
Plus, you grew a little bit as a person. Reached a little beyond your own comfort level and for that, we're all proud of you. Next year, it will be all the more easy for you to dress up again and enter the contest once more. The fight today makes the fight tomorrow just a little bit easier.
Well done, Cashoo. I really hope you had a good time.
P.S. Sexy Jay is sexy. Should have gotten him to add female Mortificators into the Vahz! -
I disagree. I say that Cashoo = Win, therefore Cashoo + (X) = Win + (X)
Regardless of the nature of (X), there is a quantity of Win involved. :3 -
AFAIK, Magic Cat is Alex's wife's account. He's just using hers for the moment, since his has lapsed. Interestingly enough, she's also a *very* talented artist herself. Whole lotta genetic creativity in their kid!

Quote:Ah, but can she lick herself? That's the more important question.or ...maybe i'll just draw you getting licked by sapphic neko ....ya know in a fight ...she can totally lick two forumites with both hands tied behind her back ...but not in a fetishy bondage way ....yeah this can only end badly.

I always tried to stay in a hotel room when I went to local cons as well, simply because at 1am in the morning, when you're in the throws of a sugar crash and tired from walking miles all day, you really don't want to take that 10 minute drive home. It's also more fun because you don't have to split up from friends at the end of the day.
Quote:I am many things, a perv, a jerk, opinionated and ill-tempered. But I've seen quite a bit and learned even more from my own experiences. All I can do as a fellow forum goer is to try and share my wisdom with people who will listen. Being shy is tough to live with. The day when you can throw those chains from yourself is the day when the entire world opens up to you.Suichiro, why must you always have to say such profound things?! ;__; Why are you so awesome!?
Quote:Now because of you guys saying all these wise things I think I'm going to enter the contest now...lol. Signups are still on Saturday so I'll sign up Saturday (tomorrow).
Also, you should find yourself a zombie to "resurrect" in the middle of the con. -
Oh Miss Cashoo, while I understand that you are shy and afraid of potentially embarrassing yourself in front of a crowd, I can tell you that you have so much talent and skill at play here, that it is a greater shame to keep it under wraps than it would be to share it with a bunch of strangers at a convention.
There's always the possibility of 'what if?'
What if your costume is better than everyone else's?
What if your hard work was good enough to be recognized by the game community?
What if you would have won prize, simply for doing something that you would have done anyways?
What if someone else who's shy too, finally finds the bravery to compete because they were inspired by your example?
If you don't compete, there will be no answer to these potentials.
I understand shyness all too well, as I was severely shy from high school and earlier. But you seem like a person who's all too willing to have fun and go the extra mile to put a little work into a pet project. That's too valuable to bottle up within the confines of yourself. Creating art, costuming and performing are all beautiful things and one of the virtues of humankind that let us share our emotions and experiences together. Please don't keep that from everyone else.
I implore you to try and expand your comfort zones a little. Not only would it help you to grow out of your shell a little, but it would *definitely* make the event one to remember. You'll always remember HeroCon for what it is, but you'd definitely remember it vividly for a long time to come if amongst those memories is the heart pounding adrenaline from showing off your costume at the contest.
In the end, the decision is yours and yours alone to make. But you've already made the costume, you already put the time and work into it. You already have your tickets to HeroCon and you've already made the decision to dress up there. It's just a small step to compete, from there. It's just a large psychological hurdle to clear. I, for one, believe that it is a hurdle that you can surpass. -
I like this dump. It seems cozy and warm. Now if only we could get some more filth in here, then it'll be a proper dump.

As someone who had a past similar to you, GK, I'm glad you found a friend that you can finally feel at peace with. It's only through the support of people around you, that one can finally start to overcome the burden upon their shoulders.
I am familiar with this process and I hope that you can continue to make headway for a long time to come. -
Very nice Caemgen, that's a lot more than most people would be willing to give up. Bravo.

While I sympathize with your situation, you state that you only receive a response when you send "nasty" mails. Well, unfortunately you're now a problem customer to that artist. It's their fault in the first place, though if they were willing to ignore you in the first place, the heated messages are likely not helping the problem any. You're likely getting pushed back out of spite now, or possibly because they don't want to even deal with any thought of you now.
I don't particularly have an answer for you, but if you just want your money back, then that should be easy to handle. But if you want your art done, *that* may no longer be in the cards. -
Xmas time is going to be filled with ribbons! No puny weak snowmen for me!
-
It came out quite well, I'm really surprised that you managed to make it out of the elements you had available to you.
If you wanted to play with it, I have the original file available with all of her parts on separate images too. That would have to be easier than pulling it apart and putting it back together again. -
Beautifully emotive, Scarfy. I wish you'd draw more often.
-
Now we'll never see the outcome of Foo's take on Lounge Crooner. Now excuse me while I go weep softly in the corner. ;_;

Anime and cartooning is probably one of the worst ways to start drawing. With a form that has so few lines, if you manage to screw up even a single one, it looks terrible. So much insight and experience is needed to make the style look great, much of that coming from RL knowledge of anatomy and form. In art, generally less (lines) is more (work.)
-
That's one of the better pictures I've ever seen Juggy do. Very nice.
-
ROFL, the most hilarious part about all of this is that you *DID* TAKE YOUR SOFTCORE PORN ELSEWHERE TO BEGIN WITH.
Frankly, I think that's just amusing as hell. Someone had to purposely go out and follow the trail of bread crumbs in the hopes that they could find something to be offended about. Oh lawd!
S'cuse me, I'mma go **** a bible. -

Actually TA, you specifically told me when we agreed on this commission, that I didn't have to color it, because I told you that I hated coloring. Right from the beginning, the agreement was set to B/W only and if I felt like it, I might color it.
Then, you've never contacted me again saying that you wanted me to 'finish' the color job on it, so it's impossible for me to read your mind.
I don't think you're a liar, TA. I just think that in the heat of the moment, your memories are fuzzy.
In fact, I don't hate you in the slightest, even if everyone assumes I do. I think you're just generally a person who tries to do nice things for people, but doesn't think it all the way through. That's what bothers me the most, because as a person and a moderator at heart, you need to be sure that everyone is thought of when you implement a plan. Doing something halfway is a recipe for disaster when someone doesn't want to obey the 'unstated' and go along with everyone.
People as a whole are filthy, disgusting selfish creatures who will always lie, always abuse each other and always fight amongst themselves. Individuals can always rise above and become shining examples of humanity, but the great unwashed masses always make up the lowest cesspools of morality. When you want to take responsibility for people, you have to keep that in mind and create laws and rules to keep that segment in check, regardless of how many 'good individuals' are involved.
Ask the moderators here. While a large percentage of the forum goers are likely well meaning and competent posters, there's always that lower filth that will completely ruin everything, if you don't account for them beforehand. They will never play by the 'unstated rules,' thusly they will ruin not only the project at hand, but also the faith of the people who are well-meaning, that you would be able to keep order.
If you want to lead, then you need to have an iron will, be able to make decisions and stick with them and have the intestinal fortitude to uphold those decisions, in the face of opposition. As far as I've seen here, you do not have that ability TA. *That* is my only issue with you. I would gladly team with you, chat with you and generally be friendly with you still, as I'm not and have never been angry with you. Regardless of who was in the leadership position, I would hold them to the same standards that cause me to question your decisions. It's just at the moment, whether you meant it or not, you're the lead dog.
When people were asked if they wanted a listing of the artists who had a current sale, they were not thinking of everyone. They were thinking of themselves. They see something which they like and is of use to them, so they selfishly vote for it without thinking of the repercussions it might have on everyone involved. They were not thinking of the artists here who might not enjoy having the competition. They were simply seeing something that was of use to themselves and that's all that mattered. In some cases, I'm sure that people believed that because it worked for *them* that it would work for *everyone* and that is just completely flawed. Those few that would be trampled on because they don't see it as a good thing would be drowned out by the majority, because that majority is only concerned about themselves. Whether that's an artist or a 'collector' they're not concerned with the people that decision hurts. I find that reprehensible and thusly I will fight for equality, regardless of if it involves me directly or not. What's wrong is wrong, my position in the world doesn't change that.
As for Eddy, the answer you seek is above. I don't feel that it's necessary to prove how big of a heart I might have, what accomplishments I've made or the positive things that I've done. It frankly doesn't matter. I don't need anyone to like me or feel that I need to prove my worth to anyone. All I want is equality across the board and someone strong enough to enforce that. Because, I will never have faith in the good nature of humanity to keep things balanced and safe.
It's not philosophy, it's math. It only ever takes one action to break perfection. Once it's gone, you can't ever get it back. For 99% of the forum users who might be kind and awesome people, that 1% will ruin everything. Good intentions will never eliminate that.
(Edit: BTW, I do actually post my art here. I always have. I just keep it clean in one thread that I necropost to every so often in order to not spam the board with it all the time. That's why people likely haven't seen it. Also, I only post CoX related art and that's a small segment of the art I actually do. I'm not *keeping* my art from the board in any fashion.) -
Ah, were you the person who had the big costume suggestion repository a long while back? I distinctly remember a big page full of stuff that was similar.
-
Ohohoho! Veeeeery nice BW. Suichiro approves of this picture! :3

Quote:That assumes that the artist does not have a job or does not commission art themselves. Which, quite a few artists do. Unfortunately your example is a bad one, because *everyone* needs to make a living, but not everyone can produce art.And our time is as precious as yours... Not all of the non-artists may understand just how long and how much effot it takes you to create the arts but then again the artists cannot know how much time and effort went into the buyer to making the money to purchase - how many hours they may have worked for it, what they may be scrimping on that month to get it. Can we just all assume everyones time is precious whether it be spent doing art, working some job they probably hate or spending time with family and friends?
It gets worse when you see that there's quite a few artists that freely give away their art here. Do you freely give away your money? I don't see free money threads here on the forums. If you really wanted to compare the two, then that's what would need to happen to make it equal.
