Woot! Pictures were finally posted of the costume contest entrants at HeroCon.

I tend to agree with the prevailing commentary that Cashoo was robbed of a place in the winners' circle. I've seen that mentioned other places across the forums too, actually. It's obvious that everyone loved the showing she made.
We're proud of you Cashoo! -

Deebs plays a lizard, but that doesn't count as a man at least. :3
Face it, women are just prettier than guys. More curves, more awesome, better clothes. It's no wonder everyone plays women toons. -
But being NSFW due to all sorts of other bad things is even more fun!

All the kewl kids hang out on Virtue, with our futa catgirl MRP in the /d/. Werd.

I dunno what goes on these days around here. I've been too busy playing Borderlands to pay attention.

As a former PvPer myself, I can understand. Frankly the amount of smack talking douchetards that make trouble like that are few, but the sheer volume by which they operate on makes up for it.
I got to see quite a bit of the competition on Virtue for a while, as my SG hung on the top rung of the villainside PvP play. Generally the knuckwits are either low skill, idiots that couldn't PvP their way out of a game of Pacman, or the highest tier 'elite' that think they're better than everyone else. Both are just as bad.
Though when you remove the problem material and play only with friends, I fail to see any issue with it. It would only be your poisoned viewpoint on it that keeps you from having fun with everyone else. Which is an honest shame, since you'd miss out on something good with no drawbacks to it. -

I always assumed that her tail and ears were part of the costume, but I agree that means that the tail should be lifeless when it most of the pictures, it's not. Without a solid answer though, we'll never know.

I call foul! This version of 'tough love' was not what I imagined. :3

Is there a particular version of GIMP you're using? Perhaps some GoogleFu can bring up some tutorials on how to get a multiply effect on the line art. I haven't paid attention to it in a long while, last when I checked, GIMP didn't support layers at all.
-
Before you do anything else with coloring technique, I'd suggest finding a way to get smooth layering of delicate line art over color flats. As is, the rough edges of the aliased pixels are really detracting from the rest of the picture. I personally don't use GIMP so I'm not sure what technique it would involve there, but I'm sure there is one.
In Photoshop, I'd grab the line art layer and set it above my color flats, using a multiply mode to let the black lines hover while the white spaces are converted to alpha transparency. That would let me do whatever I wanted behind the line layer and not effect the quality of the original lines themselves.
Color works should add to a picture, rather than take away and at the moment the manipulation of the line art is definitely distracting. Until you can smoothly lay the color under the lines without sacrificing line quality, you'll be stuck at "paint bucket fill" level works.
Edit: It's also nice to see Halley's Comet still getting some play. I haven't seen her in quite a while. -
Agreed, we're glad to have you here David. We've always enjoyed your art around here, but now it comes straight from the source. :3

None of us is as cruel as all of us.

"Though I know I should be weary,
still I venture someplace scary.
Ghostly hauntings I turn loose,
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, BEETLEJUICE!!!"
Good god, Cashoo. I love you for doing this SOOOO much. <3 Betelgeuse with a childish glee.
