Quote:To hit and resist were the ones off the top of my head that they had in common. You can find to-hit debuffs on any Dark Blast or Dark Melee character. It's also one of the most overlooked debuffs out there. How many times do you hear someone say "oh I think we might need more to-hit debuffs"?
You can also find Resistance debuffs on Pain Domination, Thermal, Sonic Blast, and Sonic Resonance which in my opinion are more suitable to every day situations. Or you know, I do believe you can proc out most defense debuff powers with an Achilles Heel -Resistance proc if you have the resources.
Dark Miasma brings to the table:
-tohit, -damage, -resist, -regen, -speed, -fly, -recharge, +def, +res, and a pet that stacks a lot of these effects
Storm:
-tohit, -defense, -resist, -recharge, -fly, -speed, -range, -end, +def, and +res
Now, I'm going to stop before we derail Silas' guide any further than it already has been, but keep in mind that I never said Pain Dom was a bad set necessarily, just one that I couldn't get behind. -

Um, shot in the dark here, but try looking at the online stores for US retailers?

Quote:Really? You don't want resistance/tohit debuffs?Funny how you say earlier in the thread you say about Pain Dom bringing nothing to the table that makes you want one on your team but then you list Storm Summoning and Dark Miasma in the list as better. What do Storm and Dark bring that makes you say "ZOMG!!1! WE NEED A STORM/DARK!!1!"? Quite honestly the only thing I hear people cry for are Kinetics.
Quote:I think the problem with all of the close-minded people here are that the devs lead them along about what Pain Domination was when Positron first released info on it and now they feel jipped. While that is the case, attacking a thread where someone tries to help others with open minds or no expectations understand Pain Domination and how to play it is uncalled for.
The guide itself is well written although lacking a lot of the sarcastic humor from the Kinetics and Cold Domination guides. It's helpful and I approve of it as someone who plays a Pain Dom Corruptor and has fun with it.
For the record, most of the people posting here saying they don't like pain dom aren't being closed minded, just stating an opinion. I personally can't get behind it even after helping test it in i13 closed beta. This is a personal opinion and nothing more. I have never stopped someone from bringing a pain dom corr/MM to a team (actually, most teams I build, I just let people bring whatever unless they ask me to pick between x or y). -
As far as my participation in the next team is concerned, unfortunately my class schedule will be interfering until the end of the current semester so I won't be signing up. However, should there be any free spots come December, I will roll something and get it to whatever level you all are at at the time in order to join up then.

Quote:I've actually had those problems with both Norton and McAfee personally, but I really don't feel strongly about either one to be honest. I just find that when I'm helping people troubleshoot things and they have McAfee (or Norton) installed its the culprit a solid majority of the time in cases like this.I have used Mcafee's for years with absolutely no problems. I have it on all 4 of my pc's. I don't feel strongly one way or another about it, I use it because its familiar and simple.
I have heard many people say it sucks or say its basically a virus. I think its all about what you do as an individual online. I am not a big web surfer, I have a few trusted sites such as my bank, companies I pay bills with, amazon.com etc that I use. I send/receive a lot of emails, and use messenger alot for work stuff. My work sites which are of course secure sites. So for someone like me who isn't out discovering each and every dark and scary crack and crevice of the internet daily...it works. People that are more aggressive on the internet, might need something else.
While I have never had a bad experience with Mcafees , I did have a horrible experience with Norton's. It seemingly threads itself through your entire system and was taking my computer hostage. Some people might like it, though. Personally I found it to be restrictive and too "secure", even when toning down the settings.
Fwiw, I don't even run an anti-virus, but that's not something I would recommend. -
It went well, felt a bit odd without a lot of the regulars there, but nonetheless a fairly clean raid.

Quote:Reputation may be positiveI think if the person who is giving bad rep to you has way less rep than you do, it comes out as a grey dot. Likewise, if someone with 10 green dots gives a person with one green dot good rep, it counts for more than if someone with one or two greens gave good rep to the same person.
, negative
or neutral
. Negative reputation may only be given if the administrator has enabled this. Neutral reputation is only given when the person giving reputation does not meet the criteria set by the administrator to affect someone else's reputation.

On a funny side note, this post:
Quote:At a guess, McAfee, seriously. The thing acts more like a virus than a lot of the things its supposed to protect you from. At least you got it fixed though.
I never realized people felt that strongly about McAfee one way or the other. -
Wasn't there a whole group of people who tried to do this a long time ago to drive prices down and it actually ended up spiking the prices for a few weeks?
-
If everyone knew this stuff, then we wouldn't have all the marketearing threads every few days.
-
While it doesn't make me question anyone's integrity, this statement brings up a decent point. Is there a contingency plan in place should any of the winners not collect within a reasonable amount of time?

Yeah, after looking over the OP a little closer, I noticed how much of a noob I must've sounded like >.<
I'll throw in for 100M -
So, to make sure I have this straight, the money pool comes from the ticket cost in this?
Also, does it matter if we want to pay in influence or infamy?
EDIT: Nevermind that last question, I was skimming the OP while cooking and missed "/side" in the first note some how. -
... actually
Analogy
- a similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based: the analogy between the heart and a pump.
- similarity or comparability: I see no analogy between your problem and mine.
- Biology. an analogous relationship.
- Linguistics. a. the process by which words or phrases are created or re-formed according to existing patterns in the language, as when shoon was re-formed as shoes, when -ize is added to nouns like winter to form verbs, or when a child says foots for feet. b. a form resulting from such a process.
- Logic. a form of reasoning in which one thing is inferred to be similar to another thing in a certain respect, on the basis of the known similarity between the things in other respects.

I don't know if that's worse than the actual conversation or not.

I am not sure what fixed the problem exactly but its fixed. I played with my Mcafee settings, upgraded to the newest Firefox and tiddled around a bit in control panel and came back and now I can see it. So ty for all that helped.
*btw I am hurt that I only have 1 green dot, apparently I am not a koolkid :-( -
The sad part, this probably tells us about where ST:O is headed.

Whether or not I'm in agreement with the changes I can't say (I quit playing it after about 1 week in the beta) but that is pretty much a textbook bait-and-switch tactic from what I can see.
1) Have game a certain way all through beta, particularly open beta.
2) Make a change to the game after open beta has ended, but before the official launch
3) People buy one thing, expecting another. Still the same "product" but different from what they were shown just a few days before.
