As far as my commitment to the second team, I'll see what we get and bring whatever the team still needs.

This doesn't have the characteristics of a memory leak, because typically a memory leak causes a decrease in performance the longer something is running. This seems to happen more when related to certain events that are taxing on the server (in particular, the RWZ raids and ITF missions 3 and 4).
-
Yeah, its reasons like that why I say that it has to be server side. The RWZ raid for instance I dropped my graphics all the way to "City of Polygons" level and it didn't change anything. Were my system resources full then I would be suspect of the client, but I hit 25% of total system resources at the most.

Fwiw, the response I was given by Tier 2 tech support was to check and see if the lag was still there after Monday morning maintenance. Sounds like a canned response to me, but I'll still be watching next week.

Quote:Nope, its fixed.Out of curiousity, the repairman bug still there? I haven't run an stf since i16 came out.
This is true, if I hadn't gotten it so many times over already then I wouldn't have even bothered last night. -
Quote:It affected everything, purples included, and has been affecting everything in some regard since the inception of IOs. This being said, we may be seeing across the board price drops (possibly even below what we were used to before AE, but there's other factors involved there) once that patch rolls through.I do strongly suspect that purples will drop significantly in price, back down to the pre-AE prices or perhaps even lower. It is now trivial for 50s to set up +0x8 "farms" from every mission. I don't know much about the drop rate bug and fix, but it sounds like it affected purples and will be fixed "soon". So for everyone that wanted the purple prices to drop, it's probably about to happen or is happening already.
Great post, Doc. -
Okay, so I ended up getting MoSTF on my other two toons last night, so whichever of my toons you need are at your disposal.

Quote:92.6% of statistics are made up on the spotAnswer: Player.
Sub-answer: A player who has fun whom people "ACTUALLY" like running around with because they have a attitude that no matter WTH happens in a mission or TF, they just have fun.
ReSub-Answer: 85% of players fail that aspect of a fun player, trust me, I'm part of that and half all of you "old timers" in this game hit that, sorry to burst yur bubbles fokes. Too much time on how things SHOULD be tends to make you lose sight of the "just have fun with it" aspect. For example: L33t gamers. No names will be mentioned, just think about it for a moment.
But in all seriousness, what you're saying is subjective. What defines fun or good to you may not be the same as the next person. Many people need goals to work towards in anything, and that in some regards is what MMOs are designed around. However, I sympathize with your ideas because I know how annoying it is to have the one person on the team who is constantly talking about how much "...this TF sucks," or "I wish we had [insert favorite AT/powerset here]," but in all, if that's the way they prefer to play the game then let them. Those are the people I tend to make a mental note about them being a whiner and avoid them to some extent. -
Hm.. probably trolling, but if you want us to listen then provide a statistically significant sample with the exact number of kills as well as recipes you receive.

Quote:Not at all, most of them deserve being talked down to for having such a huge sense of entitlement. Though, mostly we just poke fun at them and savor what we have come to know as "marketears."lmao. Then I'd have to post here to either 1 learn how to make the 2 bill, or cry that I can't make enough infl!
And thanks for fully grasping what I wanted to say. I hopefully didn't come off as too much of a "hater" toward "those less fortunate" but it has really started to grate on me seeing all the "ME WANT SHINY" threads. Hopefully I didn't come off as too much of an ***. -
Quote:Maybe a toolbox analogy would be better?Because the explanation doesn't really work for people that don't have experience with programming of any type (and don't understand the linked Wiki page). It's kind of hard to conjure up a suitable analogy or metaphor for it as well.
Bad Attempt at Doing So:
In a room of 100 people, you've been told to get a message from "Jaime". Unfortunately for you, you don't know who "Jaime" is, if they're male or female, or even if they're human. Additionally, you can't even verify if it's the right message.
So, it's not impossible that you'll find the right "Jaime" and that they'll have the "right" message but it's pretty damn unlikely.
In CoH's case, "Jaime's" message could have been replaced by any other subsystem currently making use of their place.
You have a set number of toolboxes, we'll use 100 again, that various people use to store stuff throughout the day. When someone is through with that box, they free it up for someone else to claim, then remove their tools when someone needs to put their stuff in it. This is sort of like, someone claiming it, but the other person's stuff not getting removed, so you don't know if what's in there will be usable or not. For a long time, the other person using that box used the same general tools as you, so it wasn't a big deal, but recently something changed and a new person started using the same box, but they used a mostly different set of tools. -
To be fair, playing support is somewhat of an acquired taste. That's why you see a lot of what I call "blastfenders" running around.
-
Whoever "leads" the raid should be giving guidance to everyone in attendance and its fairly simple to follow.
-
My point was more that, while there is a difference since i16 hit, the clues that I'm noticing point to something at the server or very close to it. However, in general gameplay there isn't much of a change. Its when you get to the things that were known to be hard on the server/network traffic that we're seeing spikes so I'm thinking something is going on there.
-
Unfortunately, they can actually be toned down to 49. We were hoping that they would still be 53 if we ran it at +0.

Quote:I tend more often than not any more to team through my "network of friends" as opposed to random PuGs. That being said, I agree that you can't really know if someone is good or not without teaming with them, and also "good" is subjective really.I agree that "the player" is more important but here are 2 things to consider. How do you tell someone is a good player till to play with them? And, a couple good buffers/debuffers on a team, can make everyone look good.
This is all just a thought exercise really more so than any game defining question. -
Quote:If I had to venture a guess, I would think he meant a local scope variable. Either way, good to see this found out. Explains a few anomalies I've noticed here and there with the drop rates for a while now and just never bothered to look into.pohsyb,
When you say "locally" is this client-side or servers side? -
Everytime I see the title of this thread, I start humming this song.

'Bout time.
Click my badge count banners to see my toons, Bad Luck Kitten and Frost Kitten are the only two that lack the MoSTF badge as of right now. -
I would agree completely. It makes a huge huge difference if you know the play style to expect out of someone before they even do anything.

I guess I could be considered a support or debuff snob, particularly defenders.
