Hello,
I am presently having this problem also. I have seen this before, and the only thing that worked was to put in the shortcut to bypass the updater. It usually clears up by itself, which makes me think its not a problem with my system.
In my case, I have a DSL line with my local phone company. I have access to the Internet just fine, and so should be able to get to the game servers as well. Perhaps there is a better way for the Updater to work so we could see what is really happening?

Outstanding idea, Shadow.
It also allows the info to be handled outside of the game.
I haven't used much of the copy and paste, but start right away.

Hello, everyone.
I uncovered a situation today with the new email system, and want some opinions.
Apparently, out-going emails are not allowed if you have more than 20 emails in your inbox. This may be some type of limiter intended to curtail spamming. Although I can't see how that works. Seems as though the person recieving the email is punished for getting them. But, I digress . . .
The related situation to my post is that I use (and have used) the in-game email system ro communicate with members of my Supergroup. I have sent and recieved emails from members on a variety of topics. Many of these I want to keep as they contain useful information (even if they are several years old, and from people that are no longer in the SG, or the game).
Due to the new limit, I cannot retain these messages if I want to send new emails. At least I found that to be true with global email. There has to be another way to do this. In the present system, the only thing I can think of is to forward the messages I want to keep to other characters so I can clear space to send new emails.
I sent a petition on the subject, but all I got was a "look in the forums" reply. Has this issue been brought up before? If so, please let me where to find it. Thanks!

Hello, everyone.
I seem to be having an old problem. The updater used to launch the game and connect to all of the servers just keeps cycling through "Connecting 1 . .2 . .3 . .4", etc. Its presently on #11, and it looks to me that it would cycle all day without ever reaching the game servers.
I noticed an announcement about a new Updater, but I did not see any downloads for the game coming through to my system. I've been here for several years, and am running on XP. Looks like a problem outside of my system. Anyone experiencing the same?

I found Illusion and Fire to be nice primaries for soloing.
The fastest soloing character I've ever had was a Fire/Storm. Its also an active sets that puts you right in tight with mobs with Hot Feet and Fire Imps melting them away. Of course, I'm partial to Storm. So, I'm a bit biased.
Having said that, combinations with Storm are quite powerful, but require a learning curve to get the most out of it. Still, I couldn't pass up the combo of defense/resist debuff with the damage output of Fire. I was able to solo my way through Terra Volta on street sweeps from lvl 25 through 30, and advanced quickly doing so.
Just my 2-cents.

Hello, everyone
Just in the last two days, I had this happen to me three times. All three times were in Police Band missions. Two were in Bricks, and one was in Founders. In two cases, I was directed inside the AE building and to the front desk. Nothing to click on there. I didn't think to try the room upstairs.
One time the mission was located on the steps leading down into the AE building. Almost as if there used to be a door there. I have bugged these occurances, and got help completing the missions. Tech support told me that the mission had already been flagged as bugged.
I haven't had the misfortune of have a story arc point to any AE buildings yet.
If these missions are already on a list as having problems, it might be useful to remove them from the potential ones available (at least for Police Band missions).

Just a follow up.
I tried to go through the same mission for the fourth time. I seem to be able to operate very well for about ten minutes.
I turned my Netgraph on to monitor the data exchange between the server and my computer. The Netgraph remained at a very low level in the greeen the entire time I was online. There were no spikes of any color. Very smooth.
I am fighting Hellions in this mission, and there were some graphics effects. Some occasional Fire bursts. I am running a Fire/Regen scrapper. No matter how many enemies are near me and what level of graphic effects, the Netgraph stayed in the very low green.
I am clearing a room, and have two enemies remaining. I turn to face them, and then screen freeze. No attack powers visually active for anyone, but I cannot move.
The Netgraph stops feeding the green bar along the bottom of my screen, but the send and recieve sizes keep reporting. They slowly cycle down lower and lower until I am disconnected.
It didn't appear to matter who I was fighting, what powers were active, or where I was on the map. Very odd. No spikes on the Netgraph to indicate any type of connection issues. Just "stall".
I have recieved a useful reply from one of my Petitions asking for more info. I will send my report when I get home.
This behavior is completely foriegn to me. I have played on Dial-up for years and know lag when I see it. I have also had my share of connection type issues.
Since changing up to DSL, I have very few of those. But this sudden screen lock is not anything I have seen in over 4-1/2 years of play.

No. You are not.
I have run the same mission three times. Everything is good 80% through, and then my screen freezes. I can't do anything, even call up Netgraph to check the problem. After a very long time, I am Mapservered. When I log back in I find that everything I did during the last log-in has been erased, and I am back where I started.
The last time I checked and I was the only one on Test. I have a new DSL connection that is running great, and I have very few issues on Live servers even on full Task Forces.
I have sent two Petitions, and have not gotten any replies yet. Under these conditions, the Test server is non-useable.

Just an update for those of you looking at this.
I tried the search with the word "radiation" and got 208 hits just in the Defender section of the Forums. So, the search tool does work, and you can limit the range of the search using the Advanced features.
I still find it somewhat combursome compared to the prior search tool. I can't see a way to check only primary or secondary powers. You get everything related to the topic regardless.
I found it particularly useful in the past to see what people had to say about combinations of powersets when only one primary or secondary is considered. The comments about synergy always gave me interesting tips.
Guess this one is just the way things are.
Thanks for the input. Peace.

Thanks for reply.
Given the popular use of short hand to decribe items and powers in the game, it seems quite limiting to require a minimum number of characters in the search. Also, anyone reviewing the history of posts in the forums can see what type of terms people use.
If there is an inherent limit, then it would be helpful to have an instruction set for using the search tool. I didn't recieve any type of error saying that the search string was too short. It simply said that nothing was found. Something I was able to disprove.
I'll send a support ticket when I can. Perhaps I can get an official response on this problem.

Hello, everyone!
I know the system for the Forums is still new, and there are some problems. However, I wanted to check with the community to see if anyone else is having this problem.
I have tried using the search feature both signed in and not. No matter how I configure the item I'm searching for, the results are always negative. I've tried simplifying the search, and I've tried using the "*" as a hot key. Nothing I do makes any difference.
I'm trying to find references in the Defender section for /Rad. Entering that as a search request gives me nothing. If I set the post listing by name, and scroll down, I do find Topics and Posts with /Rad in them. Why then does the search fail?
I'm sure there are reasons the Forums were changed, but the old search feature was much easier to use, and much more intuitive.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I just wanted to share some personal good news with the community.
I'm one of those dial-up users that manages to play even with some lag and connection issues. I've been with this game since Issue-3, and hadn't noticed any problems even on 8-member task forces until after the release of Issue-6. Through all the changes and improvements, I tried to stay active and stay on-line.
I always harped at the Dev's with each new release as my lag increased, and my enjoyment of the game declined. While I am sure there is some affect with improved game graphics and content, I felt my experience with lag and game disconnects had to be solely due to new code in the game.
Well, I am here to remind everyone don't make assumptions, and follow this approach. You may be very pleasantly surprised. I sure was!
After the patch loaded on April 29, I noticed that my netgraph was heavy into the green (Sometimes 100%), and I had narrow spkies of Red between 2 and 8 seconds apart. Just standing there and not doing anything, I had trouble.
I sent in a petition for help. At first I was just frustrated, but followed the support teams instructions as best I could. Even updating Windows, installing Explorer-8 and running several anti-virus programs did nothing to change the situation.
I remained faithful in sending responses on my support ticket, however. Then, the support tech noticed a few hidden tracking programs on my system. Following instructions, they were removed, reboot Windows, and Walla!
Red spikes gone, and netgraph at a low level. Great job Support Team!
