I just wanted to share some personal good news with the community.
I'm one of those dial-up users that manages to play even with some lag and connection issues. I've been with this game since Issue-3, and hadn't noticed any problems even on 8-member task forces until after the release of Issue-6. Through all the changes and improvements, I tried to stay active and stay on-line.
I always harped at the Dev's with each new release as my lag increased, and my enjoyment of the game declined. While I am sure there is some affect with improved game graphics and content, I felt my experience with lag and game disconnects had to be solely due to new code in the game.
Well, I am here to remind everyone don't make assumptions, and follow this approach. You may be very pleasantly surprised. I sure was!
After the patch loaded on April 29, I noticed that my netgraph was heavy into the green (Sometimes 100%), and I had narrow spkies of Red between 2 and 8 seconds apart. Just standing there and not doing anything, I had trouble.
I sent in a petition for help. At first I was just frustrated, but followed the support teams instructions as best I could. Even updating Windows, installing Explorer-8 and running several anti-virus programs did nothing to change the situation.
I remained faithful in sending responses on my support ticket, however. Then, the support tech noticed a few hidden tracking programs on my system. Following instructions, they were removed, reboot Windows, and Walla!
Red spikes gone, and netgraph at a low level. Great job Support Team!
