I vote for Lousy's; simple and direct, it's a good teaser poster in that it would make me want to know more about the movie.

Its not really IF you can solo a pylon on a softcap blaster...its HOW FAST?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not about how fast it's about WHAT ATTACKS!
It's not about WHAT ATTACKS it's about NO TOGGLES!
It's not about no toggles it's about NOT USING SECONDARIES!
Etc. Etc. Etc.
Congratulations to OP for doing something that 99% of blasters cannot do.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know theres always a higher mark to reach, but this is not the accomplishment level of soloing TFs or somesuch that requires a serious investment in patience and time, plus having a near perfect build.
Soloing a pylon is indeed something that 99% of blaster CAN do if they choose to build some simple sets to get soft capped ranged, then come up with a 150+ DPS attack chain to overcome the pylons regen. Its not rocket science to achieve those two metrics, so with a small amount of patience and planning 99% of the blasters out there could indeed solo a pylon.
For that reason I have to push the bar a little higher to see how fast/no insp/no temps...etc can be added to make the accomplishment a bit more restrictive in who can actually accomplish it.
Heck doing it at all is an accomplishment, but for us been there, done that, got the T-shirt types the bar has to be raised a bit to see what the true ceiling is.
So no knock on soloing a pylon, but I still want to know how FAST can I solo a pylon?
The game within the game within the game.

99% of blasters != blasters with capped range/150+ DPS
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep. Saying that 99% of an actual population can achieve something if they do X, Y, and Z (which are all time intensive and require more planning than most players care for) is a bit of a silly statement. -

Is there a good guide for Fire/Electricity?
Thanks
[/ QUOTE ]
Short Term Version: Roll one, profit.
Middle Ground: Check out recent Fire/ and /Elec guides, roll one, profit.
Longer Term: If there isn't one up in about a month or so, I might try my hand at one. Ridiculously fun and powerful combo as early as level 8, jumps up to Ludicrous Speed at 24 (Aid Self is your friend). Profit. -

What's the DPS on Electric Fence?
What's the DPS on Havoc Punch?
[/ QUOTE ]
As slotted, EF actually outperforms HP at 43.5 vs. 37.5, with the obvious additional benefit of keeping a Boss/EB/AV at range.
One other thing in looking at my slotting, since I had to in order to answer that; Shocking Grasp. As is, I've got it slotted with Mako's. I'm thinking about switching that to Lockdown. Thoughts? -
Arch/MM was, for a time, the AoE monster of choice. I'm not sure if that still holds true. But, you do get cones in both your primary and secondary, and of course the fun of the fast-recharging, crashless nuke.
-
Gotcha. That sentence I quoted just didn't make any grammatical sense to me; I couldn't tell what you were trying to say. Thanks for clearing that up.
Jousting is something I'm starting to get pretty good at. The only other Blaster I took very far was an Elec/Energy, and he's challenged by the lack of an Immob, plus relatively weak ranged attacks. On this character, it's quite a bit easier.
As for the rest...well, I'm admittedly working on theory, here. With two holds later in the build (one melee), plus the ~35 Resist to Melee, I'm thinking/hoping that I'll be relatively safe in melee. My End drain/recovery numbers in Mids are pretty good, so as far as Power Sink goes, I see that as something I'll mostly be using after nuking, and that's something I'll mostly only being doing on teams.
I thought about building for more +Recharge, but I couldn't see anyplace where I was dying for it. With the +31% or so that I've got, my planned attack chain (Elec Fence->Blaze->Fire Blast->Elec Fence->Blaze) has only a small gap in it, which I can easily fill with Flares. Admittedly not the ideal chain; in a perfect world, I'd have enough where I could drop Flares.
Good feedback. I'll have to see if I can fit some of those ideas in. -
Yeah, the Aid Self slotting concerned me, too. There isn't that much Regen in the build, so I might have to pull something from somewhere.
[ QUOTE ]
I hope you know how to joust powersink, inferno, and your 3 melee attacks.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not entirely sure what that statement (question?) means. -
Well, Elec Fence does two things for me. 1) gives me a place to put another Thunderstrike (thereby hitting the Ranged Soft Cap), and 2) is going to be the main tool for keeping EBs/AVs at range.
I'm not super concerned about the End drain from the toggles; I figure I'll only really be running Weave most of the time, plus I have Power Sink coming up every ~40 seconds. -
That's as close as ninjas come to beseeching.
-
Hey folks, if anyone wouldn't mind taking a look at this and seeing if there are any improvements which could be made, I'd be very grateful. Looking at the totals ported over, I seem to be missing 7% Ranged and Melee defense. I'm assuming that's from CJ and Weave.
Thanks in advance for any opinions, advice, etc.

Maybe you missed the part where this thread is 4 years old...
-
Oh, I like that. You've done a great job of capturing Fawn's personality (if I'm reading it correctly) in all of the sketches you've done so far.
-
I just made one of these myself, with an eye towards gunning for the Ranged Soft Cap. It seems easily doable, and I'd imagine capricious amounts of Electric Fence will help out a ton in taking on EBs and AVs (there's that other thread on soloing AVs, where Chillblain is mentioned, and Electric Fence is essentially the same thing minus the -Rech and Slow components...right?).
Doc Steam is only level 9 right now, but on paper, he should be a tough cookie later on. -
Oh, no, no, that wasn't directed at you. That was more of an explanation of my exasperated comment above regarding how few comments had been posted. I didn't want it to sound like I was fishing for compliments, just mostly wondering aloud why there were so many views and so few posts. Your comment was much appreciated, amigo!
-
I was also fooling around in Mids with a Sonic/Elec build, and I managed to make a Ranged Soft Cap fella who I think will work pretty well. Looks like he'll be skipping Shockwave and Shout, as well as Lightning Field, Lightning Clap, and Thunderstrike. I have zero experience attempting to solo AVs with a Blaster, but theoretically, this guy might be able to do it. Hover-blasting from a safe distance while keeping the big bad Immob'd, and letting Sonic's -Res + Defiance 2.0 add to the damage.
One thing I saw that I thought was odd was the lack of "synergy" between Sonic and Power Sink...does Power Sink break Siren Song's sleep? I can't imagine that it does, since it causes no damage whatsoever. If I'm wrong, I'd love to know now before I get this (admittedly completely theory-crafted) project underway.
Oh, plus Sonic/Elec just plain lends itself to a rockstar superhero.
-
And thank you, Elec. I was admittedly dismayed moreso that the artist seemed to not be getting credit, rather than my getting credit for the character's design. I thought this piece was amazing, personally, and I think I'd feel the same even if Baron Midnight wasn't my own character.
-
Thanks Mister M!
...80 views and one comment? Wow. Jeesh. -
Just got my internet back after a week without, and I found this awesome piece waiting for me.

Nice.
Ran into a BOSS_NAME mission as well yesterday. Was filled with Longbow minions and LTs all called "Minion."
None of them would attack me and all of them would flee as soon as I tagged them a few times.
Total PITA, but I got a demorecord to shoot off to the devs.

That's actually a bug that's been around since i14 was on Test. Looks like it's rearing its ugly head again now that the new issue is on Test. -
I think I'm all kitted out, thanks Bayani. Aggelakis (sp?) very kindly got a hold of me in-game and set me up with a sheet and an avatar.
Thanks Aggs! -
Yeah, exactly that. Not only would I need someone to take the screenshots, but also compose it into one sheet. I don't know if people use Photoshop or something similar to create those, but I do know that I've not got any software on board that'll do that.
-
Hola folks. It turns out I'm pretty much rubbish at making avatars for myself. The one I use here is completely arsed looking; for some reason I can't get the dimensions to work properly. And I've completely failed at making an icon work over on DA.
In addition to my icon troubles, I'd also like to ask if anyone would care to create one of those fancy reference pieces that I see some folks use. Y'know, the ones that have a whole bunch of screenshots of a character, from different angles. For help with either/or of my issues, I'm willing to throw some money at someone.
If anyone'd like to take a crack at the screenshot/reference piece, Storm Devil lives over on Virtue.
Thanks! -
Added a few pieces that were missing from my DA page. They've all been posted here before, but they may have slipped under some folks' radar.
I've got a whopping nine pieces on there, so I'll just let any interested parties click on the link below.
Thanks for looking (if you did) ! -
I'm glad that you guys are both interested in this project. It will be a little while before I can go ahead and get the ball rolling, but it sounds like you're both otherwise preoccupied for now, so that works out.
Lousy: I like the stuff you're doing now. It definitely has a bit of a "modern pulp" favor, which is pretty much exactly what I was looking to get. -
Good info on the frankenslotting, much obliged. I get that WP has the typed def built into it, but there don't seem to many decent bonuses to build on that. Am I overlooking really obvious sets?
