I'm in an interesting situation with this kinda thing:
It all started when I was playing my first non-trial account toon, Smashinatrix. I made her to look like a normal woman, i.e. reasonable sized boobs, not disturbingly slim e.t.c.
Now for some reason, when lots of guys see that, they automatically assume I'm a girl playing a girl, even when I'm not roleplaying, as no guy would ever make a 'normal' woman (or so they think)... it also seems that my in-game mannerisms reinforce things as well, as even when I've told them streight out that I'm a guy, they just won't accept it!!
Now I'd just ignore this, but guys have tried to hit on me when I'm playing Scatman McJones too, a male animated corpse... kinda creepy really... in fact, when I first joined the forums people assumed that Quilla was the male of the relationship and I the female... All a bit odd...
To answer the question: If people seem to be actually tryignm to hit on me, then I point it right out to them in a /tell. If they just keep trying then I say in team chat "Quit trying to chat me up, GenericHornyTeen001, I'm a bloke", and the embarrassment tends to shut them up. Unless the rest of the team then says "You are so a girl"... that's happened a couple of times. -
In the hope that they may be done next season:
In the CoH outcast villain group, there are Lead Shockers and Lead Bricks. Are their names meant to be pronounced Lead (as in metal element Pb), or Lead (as in first, in charge). Lead (metal) Brick makes sense, but so does Lead (in charge) Shocker. Which is correct?
On a computer, what is the difference between "Hibernate" mode and "Stand-by" mode, as on mine they both act in exactly the same way?
If a Badger = £1, a Mushroom = £10 and a Snake = £20, how much money is there in:
A Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Mushroom Mushroom!
Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Mushroom MUSHROOM!
Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger MUSHROOM MUSHROOM!
Argh! A Snake! Oooooh! A Snake!
Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Mushroom Mushroom!? -
Thanks!
Anyway, you weren't late, Q said happy birthday for you yesterday -
She did come with us on the meal, it just so happens I just got an uberlaptop for my birthday, and Q saw me testing CoV on it and started pining after the game (and the ability to post on the forums). So she caved. Two and-a-half days with no account...

Yeah, it was fun. Pity we all had to abandon the clocktower later though because of a pair of complete tools were trying to disrupt it.
Still, I got my first two people ever on my ignore list... -
Hold on a moment... I thought it was widely accepted that 'Influence' was carried about in the form of electronic tokens which you can redeem for clothing, food e.t.c... Saves the hero-liscencing people from actually having to pay heroes to work for them... It certainly makes much, much more sense than "Last week I defeated twenty hellions for this city, an act which in no way affected you or your business. Now give me that pair of trousers and that helmet for free".
Also, civvies you save run up to you and say "Here, take this..." *ping, you gain X influence*... so how is that meant to work if they arent actually giving you anything?
"Here, take this..." *hands you a note saying "you're really tall and manly"* *ping, you gain X influence & your ego grows one notch towards critical mass*
((Bearing in mind I've never bothered to read the city's backstory, also beaing in mind that I am a roleplayer who doesn't give a [censored] whether the devs occasionally break the fourth wall... I, and everyone I know, does it even in the most serious of tabletop games. It makes some fun, and it very rarely detracts from the seriousness of the plot. Tabletop GM's I know who stringently enforce a 100%-IC policy can never get people to play their games)) -
Heehee... I remember my good old false eye of vecna
Crudely forged from a 1GP coin by a blacksmith...

I've argued combat rolls on personal experience of the weapon my character is using, but I've never been in the SCA/Military/Police.

I have got a character like that... old style (1st ed) AC well into negative numbers.

Golden Heroes is a good Superhero system...
Soo many thigs on that list apply to me... -
I just created a Claws/SR scarpper and chose the 'Slash' power at lvl 4. The description of the power says it deals moderate damage and reduces the enemy defence, yet after using the power hundreds of times I have yet to see the def-debuff symbold pop up around any hit bad guys. It isn't a graphics problem with displaying the debuff symbol, as the damage debuff symbol from my Mutagen lvl 1-10 power works fine, and I can see all status effects any team members inflict upon them (including other def-debuffs).
Also - the combat tab does say "You hit target for x amount of damge, and reduce his defence!" when I land a hit on them with slash, but it's fairly obvious that it's just scripted to say that whether it really happens or not. (Admittedly I may be wrong, I'm not in the habit of having the combat tab displaying often)
Anyone got any idea as to whether this power is WAI or the description is wrong or what? -

I'll trust the opinion of my Dutch friend who translated for me, and you can trust Babelfish!

Unfortunately I don't have a Dutch friend, babelfish is all I have -

...surely you mean "Jij bent niet gemeen, je bent alleen maar zo getrokken"? -

just as a side note (from the ever-wise Stoof here) it's "Half-Cocked" rather than half loaded
[/ QUOTE ]
From the days of Flintlock firearms when they were uncocked, half cocked and cocked.

That is exactly what I said to Quilla -
My point stands, the word woot has been around much, much longer than any apparant translation of it
-
[ QUOTE ]
This is wrong I'm afraid, Woot/w00t is an acronym for, we owned other team
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm afraid it isn't. That translation was just made up to give the term 'woot' some substance when a microsoft guy had to translate it into english for this microsoft web page.
Woot IS just a general exclamation of goodness, and has been around for far longer than team-based multiplayer gaming. -
Scatman McJones is 60
The Snide is 25
The others I haven't thought about (except Stoof, whose 20 'cos he's me)
-
You can quite happily get away without stamina (I have at least), I would however suggest having an end reduction on each of your toggle powers and on your most used non-AS attacks. Remember that not having stamina you'll always have to be very careful if you get into a protracted fight. Apart from that there isn't a big problem not having it.
[Edit] It seems Mr Whiplash got there first whilst I was typing -
Stalkers... well. I play as a Ninja sword/nijitsu stalker in CoV. I've been in pvp zones many many times, and have only ever killed two heroes. One took a built up AS and another 10-15 attacks to do it (he was a scrapper IIRC). The other took a built up AS and 2-3 attacks (against a blaster). My health was flashing red when I finished both times. I have been spotted and quickly killed by even solo heroes many, many more times than I can recall. That doesnt make stalkers seem overpowered to me.
On the other hand, my blaster can happily three-shot a stalker using aim and build up, and I've never had any problems seeing them when they get too close even witout any PBAoE attacks.
As for people going for the Defenders/Controllers first when they attack... excuse me whilst I make the correct expression... here goes - Well DUH!Of course you attack the Defenders and Controllers first! That is the most basic and obvious tactical rule ever!
Basically if you are in a PvP zone alone as a defender and are unwilling to purchase some cheap little yellow inspirations then you may as well have a sign above your head with a big flashing arrow saying "Stingy and Tactially-inept Support Character Stupidly Attempting To Solo, Please Stab Repeatedly".
And if you're in a team and are still being repeatedly stalkered to death then
1) It wasn't me, and
2) Get a better team. -
I've been attacked by enemies whilst my team was fighting them, but mostly because of those longbow soldiers friggin' flamethrowers
As for heroes with +perception, I did my cape mission yesterday and the main hero who's cape I had to pinch could see clean through Hide & Stealth & Superspeed all at once, which annoyed me somewhat to say the least
That alone wouldnt have been too bad, but all the standard basic longbow soldiers for about 20m in all directions got a ridiculous +perception boost too
I only got to do my assassiny stalkery thing once I'd killed the all the longbow, with great difficulty, in Scrapper mode with the bloody +perception longbows chasing me anywhere I went on the map to rest. And then I only managed to do it once cos I had to placate between the named heroe's attacks and placate didnt work properly because of the +percept boost so the timing was somewhat difficult. Hardest. Fight. Ever. (yet)
-
For a lvl 16 I'm uber defended then... Ninja Reflexes, Superspeed and Stealth
-
I did get stealth primarily for PvP, but I find It's useful in PvE as well, as even in combat it gives me quite a good Def(all) boost as I dont lose the whole buff when I become visible again. Of course I have to pay for it in endurance.
