YEY. Gratz!!!
So, what's the next toon for you?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well.. have Amazon Thunder at 42.. lec / lec blaster.. he'll be my main now to 50. Other than that, I have Tempeste at lvl 16 (Storm / Lec Def), Just-Ice at lvl 10 (Ice / Ice Blastroller) and I created Phantra (Ill / Kin Troller) and Sky Angel (Nrg / Lec Blapper) this morning. So probably one or all of those :P -
Didn't think I was going to manage two 50 dings in one weekend.. but my PeaceBringer Luminesque hit the magical 5-0 at half 10 this evening.
Thanks to all I've teamed with since the double xp weekend in the summer (when Tiger Slashed hit 50 and Khleds were unlocked) who've helped me achieve this with such a challenging AT. -

Gratz. Now we wait for Lum to ding 50 too... So u can join the lower levels.

Luminesque is 2 pips into 49 at time of writing; hoping for him to ding 50 today or tomorrow.
I also have my lec*3 blaster, Amazon Thunder sitting at 42 so he'll be my next project. I'm keen to get him to 50 as he was one of my first toons.
After that.. have Tempeste my stormie / lec at 16 and Just-Ice my ice / ice blaster at 10. Alt-ism.. gotta love it -
Fire / Axe / Pyre Magic origin Tank and my second 50!
Woo haaaa! -

Title Topic:
"Disappointed in the Union Community"
Met them all have we?
I personally after only having high level toons on union have struggled with 'my' level of patience on PuG groups on defiant. In the time that i have levelled on union, i have learnt alot and perhaps my expectations/memories are different/jaded now. I have forgotten what things were like on Union, knowing less in my early levels made things seem better and so i have to look at both Union and Defiant and say perhaps they are as bad as eachother. After all alot of the players are probably in fact the same "i have a 50" people who still start fighting without really knowing what the other players in the team actually are, how they work, or how even their own toons work or the best way to even integrate.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't mean the title of the topic to be inflammatory, and bare in mind that there is a relatively small number of characters in the title box! A better title would probably have been, "Disappointed in First Impressions of Union Community".
The reason for the post was simply that I'd heard a lot of a similar rhetoric from various people on here, (whom I know tend to play on Union) and none of their experience I'd had with any of my toons on Defiant. Sure, you get the odd eejit, but never enough for me to warrant an ignore.
And yet here I am playing a toon on Union, and have two people on ignore in the space of 20 minutes. I think given those circumstances I'd be forgiven for wondering what was up, or if there was a stark difference in the quality of players on each server.
A friend of mine has recently started playing CoH (yup he's got the bug) and has started playing on Union. His experience of it, is very good; he's in a very supportive SG and is never short of team invites and good teams.
Maybe the Unionites can sense the fact that I've been soiled by the Defiant "stench" heheh -
After playing the last 9 months on Defiant, I've obviously filled all my slots and started playing more on Union. In all that time I've never had to /ignore anyone.
Incredibly my toons on Union are rapidly gathering people on their /ignore lists for a variety of reasons from unbelievable amounts of spamming in broadcast, to one player arguing with me after I left his team because I didn't agree with his method of getting "uber xp".
I'm going to be playing on Union an awful lot more, and I'm hoping this experience is only going to be limited to the lower levels. -
Kick and boxing both sheath your weapon - so makes no odds. (At least it did with my Claws Scrapper) At least with boxing you get the disorient component.
-
My lvl 48, Viking Furnace is Fire / Axe - and I have to say he's an incredibly "therapeutic" toon to play.
Not the damage of SS or NRG sure, but somehow a LOT more satisfying.
Only minus point is that it's a wee bit end heavy even with Stamina 3 slotted and an end rdx in each axe attack -
Aerys, are you the guy that was going to try and do a Villain respec last night? I was there with my MM CyberDeath. If you find a decent VG, give me a holla. Need one for Cyber and my Stalker, Tiger Doom. (Also have a couple of brutes and a Thugs / Poison MM in the wings too
)
-
I'll be there for both too. I8 Hami. Lag-tastic

Is it time to resurrect the tank / taunt thread?
[/ QUOTE ]
Has it ever died?
[/ QUOTE ]
We can only hope -
Interestingly, and purely from a concept point of view, Thugs has always been a set I've wanted to try, but have never been able to get on with. What would be a good secondary for them? I'm thinking FF or Traps maybe?
-
Ah haah this would explain a lot. I've never really been able to get on with any other MM, because I've always felt they've been lacking something (my bot / dark was the first MM I played).
-
On the question of taunting - am I right in thinking that even if you slot taunt auras with a taunt duration enh, you don't actually see the "taunted" symbol above the heads of those enemies affected by it? I ask because I've never seen it, but I think it'd be a useful way of gauging how many within a group you've got the attention of (other than the obvious one that they're attacking you :P)

Add this one to the list of "Popular Misconceptions" I'd imagine.

One can always speculate, but I've seen an awful lot of posts - from reliable people - saying "gauntlet just won't hold AV aggro". I've seen zero posts saying it will.
If you've tried to hold AV aggro with gauntlet, and it worked, then all well and good; as things stand I'll call it not working as close to established as we can get it, not a misconception.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I didn't mean that "it being impossible to tank an AV with gauntlet alone" was a popular misconception, but the idea that "a tank shouldn't attack" was a popular misconception. -
The other benefit of bots is that a) they're immune to fear attacks, and b) have a good defense against psi (afaik). Additionally, the lvl 32 Upgrade turns them from rinky-dink kiddie toys to unleashers of energy and rocket based death.
Couple this with a /dark secondary and you'll be running through missions and finding yourself cackling manicly in true evil mastermind stylee -

Speaking from my own experience, I have a lvl 46 Fire / Axe Tank, that doesn't have taunt. BA is slotted for 2 acc, 2 end rdx and 2 taunts. His build is geared more towards damage, than damage mitigation, but that is kinda the point of a fire tank anyway isn't it?
Fact of the matter is, I don't usually have trouble getting a team, and there are a few players I've teamed with that regularly team with me because, I'm "an awesome tank". Personally, I think I'm too squishy and rely too much on support to be a good "proper" tank, but hey - so long as the job gets done and everyones happy, isn't that the point? -
Grats to Xanth for a well organised Hami, which made my Hami Cherry Popping experience a relatively hassle free one! I did get lost a couple of times, but thankfully didn't make any raid wiping errors
(amazes me though that people are unable to read simple instructions like "brawl hami once to get your HO" or "dismiss all pets EXCEPT Singularities") -
Fine by me! Glob is @steelrat. If I get carried away with another character and don't appear on line, give me a nudge.
-
Lord Amber - being an Amazon Star on Defiant means that I'll certainly look you up on there (don't know why I didn't think of that before in all honesty!)
FrIce given the fact that one of your alternate forum names is "Buggrit" (I'm sure Foul Ol' Ron would be proud) means that your groups madness is doubtless something I could relate to - I'll make a note of your glob, and give you a yell over the weekend -
I'm mostly a Deviant, but seeing as I've run out of slots on there, I'm soon going to be playing toons on the Union server.
Can any of you recommend an active SG for a relatively experienced / mature player. By "active" I mean, "teams together regularly / has a good spread of levels / organises regular SG events" ?
Or is this an SG holy grail which I am unlikely ever to attain? -
My lvl 48 PB, Luminesque needs this.
Global is @steelrat - give me a shout and let me know when -
You know the real irony of this thread is that its title talks about "Respect". How is going into a zone designed specifically for PvP, and expecting people not to PvP just because you ask them to anywhere close to respectful?
-
[ QUOTE ]
well I for one agree with Amellie, as ud expect.
and as u will also i expect i couldnt give a damn if u wanna pvp or not, just leave ones that arent the feck alone! >.<
[/ QUOTE ]
I really am astounded by this view point. If you go into a PvP zone, you should expect PvP by definition. How clear does it need to be made that, "If you don't want to participate in PvP, then don't enter a PvP zone". There is no way on EARTH (especially not in Paragon) that a PvPer should have to ask another player in a zone especially designed for the purpose whether or not he or she can attack them!
The other point in all of this is, that even if you ARE attacked in a PvP zone, other than the minor inconvenience of going back to the hospital, what is the problem if you're beaten? You can't enter a PvP zone until you're level 15, so by then you're almost certain to have a travel power, and if you are beaten in PvP by another player (as opposed to by an NPC mob) you wont suffer any debt.
If you want to complain about player conduct, then do it about something that is actually worth complaining about, like spamming broadcast with [censored], or other players telling you what powers you should or shouldn't have (which in themselves are hardly worthy of note).
This topic has been done to death over and over, and it amazes me how something so simple appears to be so difficult to grasp by some.
