Defenses protect against attacks. Attacks come from both other players, and the environment.

Those of you who are whinging about being attacked repeatedly in PvP zones when only there for PvE content:

Can you honestly say you've never once seen another player and wondered how much damage one of your attacks could do? Taken a sneaky shot at someone, because you thought/knew you wouldn't get caught? Put your shields up to protect you in case you do get targetted?

The last one's the most likely, and that counts as PvPing. You're protecting yourself, the same way those childish PvPers do.

Awesome. Everytime I'm about to go up against someone with a much higher spec'd build than mine, or an experienced PvPer, or simply someone I think might beat me - I just won't attack.

I got given GW for absolutely no reason other than Da Jaw had a binbag full of them and didn't want to lug them all home again, at the very first Brighton Con. That's miles ahead of any PPD temp power or (apologies) forum title, in my opinion.

Fosca, would you mind explaining to me why it's fine for you to state those who attack you again and again in a PvP zone are only out to make yours/others' gaming experience miserable?

Perhaps I misphrased my post, but I don't see I've "accused" anyone of anything. I don't pander to the "everyone's a winner" state of mind, because those who win (fairly) deserve the praise and recognition. Now, in an MMO it's hard to set the rules of PvP in stone - so the base rules seem to be: Don't insult someone, Don't make use of exploits. Attacking someone again, and again, and again and winning again, and again, and again isn't wrong, it's picking an easy target and winning. There might not be much honour in it, but this is a computer game.

Sore losers are as bad as arrogant winners, but in personal opinion, only one of these make me want to smack my head against a table.

And hypocrisy - well, I know I'm not guilty of that (which makes me wonder whether you were replying to me), as I am god-awful at PvP. The only time I've been able to win is when I've gone after the same target more than once (which FG will confirm I do quite a lot).

I often go after the same target in a PvP zone more than once, if I've managed to take them down once already. Not because I want to ruin their gaming experience, but because they agreed to become targets, and I want to have some fun. The rewards mean nothing to me, and unless I've been hugely misled, attacking the same person more than once is not against the rules of PvP.

Exactly, that is what I was talking about. Players having fun attacking other players that don't fight back, once and again and again and again and... So funny, indeed. That's why there are always same faces in PvP zones.

If you fight back and don't win: your fault.

I'm afraid you cannot blame PvPers for this, but rather sore losers or those who expect to be left alone when entering a PvP zone.
