Nice job overall on the pencils and colors! It's not perfect but it doesn't have to be. I appreciate anyone willing to put themselves out there to show their skills and be willing to accept honest criticism. Especially on these boards where there is pro calibre talent.
Keep up the good work! -
Very well done! Great job!

Wonderful work CR! You should definitely get back into your art, you have skills! I would love to see more of your work.
I'm in a similar boat. I did much pencil/paper illustration back in the day and pretty much just stopped. I'm not schooled in anatomy and my computer skills are self taught, so I'm in a bit of no man's land. Seeing so much talent on these boards is intimidating but your posting has inspired me to break out my sketch book again and see what emerges. Thank you! -
First off, no matter what topic you care to debate - at no point, ever, in the history of mankind - will you find a unanimous concensus. Especially when platformed for discussion within a public forum. There are too many poeple with their own perspective on whats right about "anything" you care to discuss. Period. This is why war will never end until we are all gone.
With that in mind, I disagree with you on several levels...
Quote:You opened the door to this particular debate, so while you may have decided to milk the cow, you can't put the milk back in the cow. Besides, I don't recall anyone, including myself, single you out on this topic.First, I wish this debate would end, since everyone was debating me and I gave it up a month ago.
Quote:Secondly, I also wish people would stop using "sense of entitlement" without knowing what it means.
Quote:Both sides have a sense of entitlement - new players have a sense of entitlement to all rewards, and Veterans have a sense of entitlement to new, continued rewards.
My 2-1/2 year old son cries because he wants the new toy his 4 year old sister just got for her birthday. He wants it now and doesn't want to wait another 9 months for his brthday to arrive. Is he entitled to that gift?
B. We vets are grateful, and admittedly in some cases not so grateful, for the vet rewards we receive. I may be wrong, but I don't recall reading a vet stating "we are entitled" to rewards for playing your game.
This is a perc, a small gesture of gratitude provided by the devs to players commited to their brand. You expect United Airlines to give you all the frequent flyers you missed while you were out flying with Continental?
So, aftere all that, me being amazed at peoples sense of entitlement is a statement you actually agree with. Funny. -
Quote:THIS!!!So let's suppose that the devs decided to stop any more Veteren Rewards after the 66th month one. Now, further suppose that CoX shut down 67 months from now. A new player joining today would get all rewards up to the 66th month if he subscribed until the end.
But what if the devs didn't stop at 66, but decided to stop at 69 instead? A new player joining today would get...all rewards up to the 66th month if he subscribed until the end, the exact same rewards he would have gotten if the devs had stopped at his highest reward.
A reward never offered can never be gained. At least if the devs continued to offer Veteren Rewards there would be a chance for getting them. If the devs stopped, they would be guaranteeing that future potential rewards could never be gained by anybody.
The argument that the devs should stop making new Veteran Rewards because new players would not be able to get them is really an argument that says, "If new players can't have something, then nobody else should be able to either."
People need to accept the fact that they can't have everything in the game. Everything was not designed for everybody. Not everybody enjoys PvP; not everybody has hours to dedicate to some of the longer task forces; not everybody has the energy to research and gather all the badges; and not everybody was subscribed for the same amount of time.
The only question the devs need to care about is how vital the Veteran Rewards are to people's enjoyment. If not having a given ability truly harms the playability of the game, then perhaps that ability should be given to all players. But if the "harm" is merely one player being jealous of what another player has, and enjoying the game just as much if neither had the reward as if both did, then perhaps the reward is serving its intended purpose in a two-fold manner, by both creating non-vital rewards that people feel an incentive to get and filtering out those who have a sense of entitlement that the game cannot likely support.
I've just read this entire thread and all I can say is wow, how unbelievably sad. People's sense of entitlement never ceases to amaze me. -
I've never had any of my characters rendered and I'd love to see one of my main Starwind.
Starwind is a Grav/Rad controller and cosmic wayfarer who came to help the troubled people of Paragon City. I'm thinking some kind of cosmic interlude or confrontation with Jackalynn would be an interesting match and kewl cosmic visual!
I'd be honored by whomever would like to do it if I'm lucky enough to be picked. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I just want to say you guys did a great job on this event! The turnout was fantastic! You guys were organized, communicated well and had everything under control. Very well done to all involved! I also loved the location selection, it was a perfect spot!
My character was Ultra-Lass, who was extremely lucky to take 1st place in the "costume only" portion of the event. I didn't envy the selection commitee's task at hand, as a mulitude entries could have easily won. There was some real quality designs on hand! Well done everybody!
Speaking of EnnVee - She did a fantastic job on spinning the tunes and mixing it up on RadioFTW! Thank you for squeezing in Winger! My jaw hit the floor when I heard that!
I'm really hopeful we'll get to see a bunch of screenshots from the event soon!!! -
I hear ya believe me! With all the non-color, I was just trying to add something visual with the fins. This was a tough assignment!
-
OK - I took a stab at this and it was definitely not an easy task given the parameters. I found the more I tried to do, the less I liked the results. So I took a less is more approach and I found it more to my liking.
I went with Tech Banded as directed, but I changed the torso to Robotic Arm 2/Tech. So I think I still stayed within the rules.
All colors are intact. The natural silver of the Tech Banded pieces were enough for me instead of adding "white" pattern. When I tried, it started loosing it's cohesivenes. I used the Thorn pattern on the chest because I like vibe it gives resembling a "V" and it tapers into the belt area nicely.
I provided several color variations on the mask lenses for your consideration. I did break the rules by adding yellow because I thought it worked really well.
Anyway - here is my attempt at it...

Just for clarification - Is the costume to feature ONLY Tech-banded pieces? With your mention of the booster packs it appears that might not be the case.

Swan - that avatar is simply elegant and amazing! Fantastic design work!
American Valor - Very nice job on the banner achieving much costume visability in a restricted area. -
While there was a small iota of entertainment value initially, I think it's time we got back on track to the "banners" at hand!
Powerforge - I'm also self taught in all these compu-graphics stuff and you did a great job on the banner! Also, regarding file size when fading between images - the smoother the blend, the more images required, the bigger the file becomes. At least that's what I found with my trial and error.
The only downside to banners IMO, is that you can never, (or rarely that I've seen), present the full costume it all it's glory. It's either a head or bust shot so it can be fit into a fairly restrictive height. -
Fantastic job! Very well done!! What's the medium?
-
Sapphic - Your animated idea is good and would look awesome but it would be difficult to make.
Power Stream - Great job on the banner but Alt is correct regarding the font. Try playing around with a few ideas. Just a thought to consider - Try to make the power blast darker and your name read white or if you have the sillz, make it look like your name is glowing within your blast area.
Grae - Great looking banner but Suichiro is right about the readability. You have enough room in your image area to shift your head shot to the right and move your name and text over a little to gain more room for larger text. Try to justify the copy left and right under your name. Great job tho! -
That ITF screen is absolutley stunning! The figure in the foreground detracts from the overall capture but other than that, it's as close to perfect as I've seen. Thanks for sharing!
