Balshor, Any fixes/enhancements you can find time to crank out will be greatly appreciated. That visual coordinate idea was actually just me dreaming out loud. The existing tools, both yours and others, make demo editing is *so* much more accessible to us than it would otherwise be, warts and all. You and Zloth and Scuzz are real heroes to so many of us and have helped us get closer to our artistic visions than we ever could without your help. Thank you, all of you.

Oh. Look-And-Feel. Duh. I have no idea what I was thinking when I wrote that. LOL.
Here's something I came across yesterday: After doing a "Resort", I found that many of the initial MOV, POS and PYR commands (the ones at time=1) were located before the NEW for those characters. Is there a secondary sort criteria after "Abs.Time"? If not, building that in would fix the problem I think. On the other hand it could be a major pain if the sort mechanism you're using doesn't support ordinal properties for enumerated data types.
Under the category of "would be nice", I'd love the ability to edit values in-place on the grid instead of using the Command Information area.
And the absolute coolest feature would be some sort of visual representation of selected objects' POS X/Y values on a 2-D grid, with the ability to click on (or mouseover) a spot and see the X/Y values. Maybe that could be part of the movement wizard enhancements?

Pez - I'm not seeing that so it may be something to do with your Java engine install.
Balshor, I hope the rest of your move gets better! I'll give some thought to changes I'd like to see. Maybe remember the launch settings from previous sessions? You're already remembering the directory of the last save/load across invocations, and that's great.
Looking forward to the next version. Thanks for all that you do! -
Is the current version still 0.8.14?
Changes? Ooh! Please consider changing the "save" function so that it defaults to the path of the file that has focus at that time. I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally overwritten another file.
LOL - On the other hand, I keep using the darned thing, so you're doing something right! -
BTW - The After Effects tutorials at VideoCopilot.net are awesome. Thanks for pointing me in that direction, Mag!
My current problem is that now that I have After Effects, I feel like I need to re-do every video I've ever made. LOL -
Kewel! Thanks, Mag!
Now I'm gonna see if I can get that center circle to rotate and change colors. I'll share it if I get it working. -
Oh, all right! I've ordered After Effects. Jeez monelly, that thing is expensive. But, after seeing what 8Baller was able to do with it in the Matrix contest, I knew I was gonna get it eventually...
Magma, if you have something handy, PM me on how I can get hold of it. Thanks! -
Carp. I just downloaded a trial of AE 5.5 but it won't save or render. I'm guessing that rendering might be useful...
-
Wow. Thanks guys! I was actually hoping for something already out there that I could just snag.
Magmabolt - No, I haven't gotten After Effects (yet). Is there a free trial somewhere that I could download?
D_R - I use Ulead's VideoStudio but it can import images, including .PSD files. It also does pan/zoom and overlays w/ chromakeying.
Seriously, thanks for anything y'all can come up with. But please don't go to a lot of trouble. -
OK, how about we start a repository for videos that explain the nuances of CoX gaming. We can call it...
(wait for it)
NoobTube! -
Actually Scuzz, that's a little different from what I had in mind, but I like it a lot! Including text like that opens up some possibilities...

"I like to play on Guardian 'cuz they got cookies."
LOL - Yes, we do.
A few comments:
* Well crafted, technically. Sharp video and clear audio. A few "breath pops" in the dialogue, but that happens. Just reposition the mic (or use something other than a headset) next time.
* Long video (9:39). Most people's attention span is too short to stick with it. Maybe break it up into smaller installments. I try to limit mine to around 5 minutes. {laugh} I don't always succeed, but I do try.
* Long intro credits (1:10). You want to capture folks' attention right from the start, so save most (if not all) of that stuff until the end. You might even want to scrap the technical stuff (like which editing software you used). If you think someone will want to know, put the techie details in your vid's description or comments.
* You spent a lot of time selecting and re-selecting costume parts and colors. While that does give extra time for the witty banter, it detracts from the idea of introducing a neophyte to the game.
* You used some game terminology that won't make sense to your target audience - people that don't already play CoX. They don't know what the various powersets represent, nor what a archetype is. Better to either explain the terms the first time you use them or use terminology that newbies will understand without an explanation.
On the plus side, your video is very good from a technical viewpoint. I'm sure the organizational/creative side will get better with experience.
I'm looking forward to your next vid. -
{crickets chirping}
LOL - Really? I thought this would be an easy one! -
Does anyone have an image, or even better an animation, of some sort of POV targeting sights locking on? I can use regular video, still images or flash animation, BTW.
Thanks in advance! -
Hmmm. Looks like OO_Ancient_Tablet_03 will work nicely. Thanks, Scuzz! And thanks also to all the rest that chimed in also.
BTW - Is there a list somewhere of objects? -
Is there an object that looks like a historical marker, plaque or memorial? I need something with a flat area suitable for an inscription overlay. I also need to place it at a certain location, which is why I'm hoping there's an object like this.
Sorry in advance if this has been covered before... -
Yes, but the Dark Astoria cemetery is gloomy (mostly because of the fog) and the Striga one is run down. I was looking for a "nice" cemetary.
-
Hey, thanks everyone!
Scuzz, I actually did notice that mausoleum in the Codex, but I had forgotten that there is a cemetery in front of it. Thanks for the reminder.
Maybe we need a list of locations by keyword or description for videographers to reference? Yeah, I'll get on that in my "spare" time... LOL -
Danke. Now I just need to figure out which flashback mish uses that map...
The BB one looks good too, BTW. -
I assume y'all are talking about a mission map, not the zone map, right?
One of these?
MAPS/MISSIONS/OUTDOOR_MISSIONS/OUTDOOR_FLASHBACK/IOM_FB_KINGS_ROW/IOM_FB_KINGS_ROW.txt
MAPS/MISSIONS/SAFEGUARD/SAFEGUARD_KINGS_ROW/SAFEGUARD_KINGS_ROW.txt -
I'm looking for a cemetery/graveyard map that isn't run-down or oppressively gloomy. Even a small one will do. Ideas?
On a related note: Anyone tried superimposing or replacing their own text on a CoX tombstone? Any tips or tricks would be appreciated. -
I just made a vid of my Empathy/Energy Defender soloing an Invincible radio mish (Council) in PI, but I can't upload it to YouTube because it's over 10 minutes (14:23 to be exact).
-
Actually, the 30 second limitation on the free Fraps version can be overcome by capturing a scene in segments and then editing them together. Then again, I find that a shot that lasts more than 30 seconds is usually boring and needs some editing anyway.

Obviously you're both too young to remember Paul Anka's "You're having My Baby"...
