All I can really say here is that they want to do the best they can for the EU community under the new NCsoft West structure. They're good people over there, and they have big plans. I'm just sad I won't be here to see them come to fruition.

I realise you can only say what you've been cleared to say, but that statement does leave a lot of questions unanswered - not least on who's actually making it. Top management from NCSoft? Your own view in light of internal conversations? Local EU management?

One could read the promise that "the game isn't going anywhere" as still leaving it open for the servers themselves to do a bit of ocean-hopping, too.

Part of the fun's in the levelling for me; picking up new powers and adding enhancements to existing ones makes for variety. I wouldn't have spent the last several years playing if the only option was to grind unprogressable toons all the time.

Same here; while playing an MMOG's at all's a pointless activity at the end of the day it, does seem especially futile to try and level a toon if your entire account might vanish overnight.

That said, I'd have hoped NCNC would have formulated their plans in advance, and have them ready to announce when the brown stuff hit the air shifter.

I'm getting the impression the bigwigs were down the pub Monday night and drew up plans along the lines of "we'll close the Brighton Office tomorrow, and when that's done...erm, we'll wing it".

Did that for a day or so; not only have they not given us the official word, they haven't even said when or if they'll be giving it. Hell, they haven't actually said anything at all to us, even a simple restatement of what's already in the public domain.

I don't think there's much doubt that they could maintain them.

Whether they'll [u]want[u] the extra hassle of supporting a separate data centre, half the servers of which need special translation services for mods, is a different matter.

TBH I'm surprised at the complete lack of info from NCSoft to their paying customers, whether via red name, News update or whatever.

Presumably the high-ups had drawn up full plans before local staff were notified, and had already decided whether EU forums and servers were to be ultimately preserved/migrated/closed down. Once the cat was out of the bag and it it was clear big changes were happening, why not let people know what they were?

Let's not get started on the heinous rebranding to "Snickers"...
