If it hadn't been for those meddling kids...
I mean "generalized Internet failures".
Good going tonight. -
Quote:2) There are too few reps per server.

2) There should be every effort made to have 1 player from each server in PERC. Believe me I know the issues with trying to get people to donate time and run events, however, the reason this is important is illustrated in some of the complaints voiced with this most recent contest.
Last I heard, there were usually 3 representatives from each server, with one of them acting as Senior Server Rep. And the recruiting for more reps when positions need to be filled was a priority when I held that role.
I'm sure PERC is doing its best in this situation, but the fact of the matter is Protector doesn't respond as enthiusiastically to this player-led organization (for various reasons) as other servers do.
We have a plethora of event organizers and a very independent playerbase. We like to do things "on our own" so to speak, and do it "our way".
We're cute and fuzzy that way. -
Quote:Yep. We did one awhile back.
...I still haven't gotten my prize...
Other than thatit went really great.
Quote:Lol yes it was a massive amount, and you STILL didn't get anything? Go pester Hickman.
I invited him personally to the Protector Vigilance channel a few months back, so if he's online (which seems a rare treat these days) we can reach him.
If you'd like I can talk with him since I ran the auction.
In any case, if you're not getting what you expected I will be available to do a full refund. I'm holding some inf from that auction still (for N P C / Mentor Project) and can also cover it with my own stash. -

Hey Toxic,
I wanted to draw attention to something those of us who benefit from PERC's activities often forget:
You guys rarely get the recognition you deserve.
In fact, for volunteers who give away their time and resources, your efforts go largely unappreciated. Most people who haven't been in PERC will not understand how much of your available game time is devoted to designing activities, coordinating events, and reporting results - all the while keeping a stiff upper lip and acting as PR officials on whatever server you're involved with.
And all this after dealing with work, family, studies, etc.
You're very often criticized for not giving even more of yourself, and that's pretty much the only feedback you get out of all this, since there's no tangible benefits that I know of for volunteering in the first place.
My thanks go out to you, the other server reps, and Protector's own roster of former PERC reps. I may have left PERC since I found it did not mesh well with our server's mindset and became more of a hindrance for what I wanted to do personally, but I still recognize that you guys work hard to better our gaming experience.
Protector is fiercely independent, but it has some of the most knowledgeable and helpful folks it's been given me the privilege to know.
You'll find most of the "in house" event planners are quite successful already at planning, funding, and running their own activities here and that we actually require very little maintenance in that regard.
That doesn't mean we don't appreciate the extra help, and in fact perhaps you might want to consider ways to assist already ongoing server events. No other suggestions to offer (I keep those for my own events), but again:
Thank you, and good luck. -
Quote:Hey - no worries!Done. I've neglected to add it to the calendar for the last few weeks.
That's why we're multiple editors in this calendar: so we can back each other up.
I do try to catch whatever isn't added that I see here on the boards, but I was absent for a few days and the calendar wasn't updated as much during that time. -
Quote:This: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=122253?Hey Arch... there is usually a sticky thread on each server where the rosters (just for local server reps) is listed. I do not see such in your server. I will consult Ice & MP and see what we can do about getting one posted.
-
Want me to add this to the calendar T, or will you?
-
Added to ProCal.
Hope it's OK that I'm bringing my tanker to this, since he's my badger. -
Not taking sides here, and hopefully not adding fuel to any ongoing virtual fires, but...
This event was listed in the Protector Activity Calendar (http://lnk.in/procal) for about 10 days now, with a link to this thread and a brief overview of dates / times / prizes.
There are a half-dozen people involved in trying to keep this tool current and relevant. -
I still need to get this done and am not quite moved over to villain side with my badger, so sign me up.

Quote:I noticed the change had not yet been made to the Protector Activity Calendar, so I made it.Strike Force Sundays are now Strike Force Saturdays
Note: I've stopped adding people's birthdays, due to logistics issues in getting it right and lack of feedback. -
Details added to PAC.

Wow!
Thx for catching that, bud.
I blame lack of caffeine, sunspots, and the letter "R".
I'll fix the original too. -
This is a great initiative, Triumphites.
As founder of the Mentor Project, I always get a kick when I see players sharing in the same vision that experienced players looking out for newer players is a great way to retain them.
It also allows us, the "old guard", to experience the game anew through the eyes of someone who's not so jaded - creating a different type of endgame through passing on experience and knowledge.
The Mentor Project has been around since February, so I apologize for missing this thread originally. I would have offered our assistance earlier, had I noticed this thread.
As it stands, if anyone is interested in joining MP, the info can be reached using the link in my sig.
We're 132 registered mentors strong right now and partnered with Paragon Wiki (Players Guide to the Cities). If you're looking for an environment where you can find support for your own mentoring, answers to questions you're not familiar with, or like-minded people who can look after your new players in your absence, hop on in the N P C channel.
It will be an honor to meet you ingame. -
Apologies for missing this Sunday - was out sick and slept all afternoon.

Quote:Thanks for the promotion.Welcome!
If you are looking for an SG on Virtue I suggest visiting the server's forum and looking at the SG list sticky. In the meantime I invite you to try the NPC Mentor Program chanel for questions you may have about the game. You can find more information here.
Indeed, for many players using the N P C channel goes hand-in-hand with developing characters and relationships the server of their choice. There are 130+ mentors currently registered with the Mentor Project.
If you're also looking for a personal mentor on Virtue, I'm sure we have quite a few people who could help you out, in addition to relying on SG mates. -
Welcome back!
You can keep track of server events using the Protector Calendar (most regular event organizers are its editors and should be updating it).
The link is in my sig below. -
Quote:There is a plethora* of mentors on the Justice server.Ok so I'm not really a newbie but i would still like to have a mentor to help me and answer my questions and things like that. Is that OK? If it is I'm usaully in the Justice server Mr.Psychic.
If you're in the N P C channel, be sure to introduce yourself and once the ice is broken we can find someone who'll take you under his/her wing.
* Today's big word is brought to you by Lord Nemesis, and the letter "P".
