  1. Kheldragon nodded, and shrugged. She couldn't blame him for being creeped out. Of course, if this much of her creeped him out, she'd really better not let him see her face. And especially not her eyes.

She looked around, wondering if anyone else would get here, then straightened a little. Judging by the energy in the air, there was someone else approaching.
    She coughed.
  2. "...I'm a Warshade..." It said from under its hair. The voice was very quiet and raspy, and out-of-breath, and it sounded as if the thing was speaking with half a lungful of water. But it was definitely female.
Beneath the hair, her eyes suddenly started glowing a bright purple. The air close to it suddenly deadened, as if it was sucking all the energy out of its surroundings. Which it was.

Kheldragon coughed into her hand. "...What about you?..." she croaked.
  3. The cloud just moved a bit of its upper portion. It almost looked like it was nodding, and suddenly, the cloud disspiated. In its place was...Well, something relatively human. Whether it was male or female, it was hard to tell, because it wore a partial set of thick, high-tech armor.
It was huge, slightly over six feet tall, and rather muscular. A curtain of long, flame-red red hair hid its face, probably for the best. Instead of feet, it had digigrade (you know, like a cat's or dog's) paws, with three toes that ended in large talons. Its feet and hands were bare, its hands also being clawed, and covered with red scales.
A long, red-scaled tail swished lazily behind it. Bony red spikes grew from its shoulders.

It coughed, and nodded again. Suddenly there was blood on the ground in front of it.
  4. ((Khel, actually, is eighteen or nineteen. ))
Kheldragon was clinging to a power line somewhere in Kings Row. The nearest houses were totally dark, thanks to her. She didn't mind, though -- she figured people could do without light for a couple hours.
And, suddenly, a paper -- somehow going at very high speeds -- smacked into her face. Surprised, she lost her grip on the power lines and landed hard on the streets below. There was cheering from the nearby houses as the lights came back on.

She slowly got to her feet, claws leaving grooves in the cement. The paper had landed face-up, and from where she was lying, she could read it quite clearly.
Khel thought for a moment, and decided this would be interesting. If the devices were that powerful, they'd be very good eating. And besides, there was a good chance this was a trap. Springing traps, taking blows, or otherwise being a...relatively human...shield was one of the things she did best.

Suddenly, Kheldragon was gone. There was only a faint purple cloud, with two white specks in what appeared to be its head.
She turned, flexed her claws, and slashed at the air in front of her.
For a few seconds, nothing happened. Then there was a slight groan, and a hole opened in the air. The cloud floated through it, and then the hole closed.
High above the truck that led to the D, another hole opened, expelled a near-invisible purple cloud, and promptly closed.
The cloud floated slowly to the ground, touched down in front of the truck, and closed its "eyes". The white specks vanished, and now only anyone who looked closely could see it.
  5. ((She knows she's in way over her head, and she's hiding in the bathroom, since that's where Khel was last))
  6. ((Dun dun DUUUN...

And I still have no idea what the way out is. >.&gt)
  7. Khel smashed her head on the metal railing, barely noticing the pain shooting through her head. The railing had cut her, too. Ah well.
She wiped away the blood trickling down her face. It had been right there all along! The way out was right under her nose! Why was she so stupid?!
    The answer was simple.

Throw things. Kip had already caught on.

She grabbed the nearest bar stool, hoisted it over her head, and tossed it at the phony sound technician, then followed it up with several broken wine bottles.

Kheldragon suddenly realized something. Since only certain parts of her weren't regenerating, maybe whatever was in her blood there could be spread to other people.
Without hesitating, she slid out of her Void suit, took a knife from behind the bar, and made an incision in her chest. Hardly with surgical precision.
Wincing from the pain, she reached inside, took a piece of lung, and hurled it at the sound technician before the program could rebuild itself.
The bit of lung she'd taken began replacing itself inside her gut as the wound began to close...But much more slowly than the rest of her. At least it was healing, unlike the wounds she'd had in the first place.

She tossed some more bottles halfheartedly at the anti-virus dancers, waiting to see what would happen.
  8. ((Meanwhile, Khel is still doing absolutely nothing besides wandering around the heroside bar ))
  9. ((Apparently ))

She frowned slightly, and still didn't sit down. She was used to this by now, and headed to the bathroom to get most of the excess blood out -- relatively politely.

Soon, the door creaked open again and Kheldragon stepped out. She wiped her lips, and took a halfhearted swing at the air.
Still nothing happened. A hole didn't even open for a bit. And it completely figured that her powers would be taken away, but of course the cold double voice inside her head would stay.

Yyoouu'rree ttrraappppeedd, ddoonn'tt yyoouu ggeett iitt? Sstuuppiidd ggiirrll...

At least it had stopped referring to her as 'lizard'. Well, there wasn't much to do here and now, but at least she could touch people and machines without sucking their energy dry.
She wandered over to the pinball machine and played a few games, claws making marks in the metal, waiting for Poe to return. Just waiting... Surely the presence of THAT much energy would make her powers return.

Now, back to the design grind... anyone know a good way to pick a handcuff with a mechanical pencil, a Hero Clix, and a poker chip?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    1) Snap the poker chip at the person holding the keys, much like you'd snap a bottle cap. Practice with pennies, then work your way up to quarters until you're sure you can nail your target in the forehead. Bonus points if you get a great buzzing noise when the chip zips away.

    2) When the person comes over to give you a smackaround for hitting them, stab them in the eye with the pencil.

    3) Unlock and scram, leaving the Hero Clix as a jaunty calling card.

    [/ QUOTE ]

SokMunki wins the thread. Give him his reward, Posi, by mentioning something in the works. Anything. Seriously. C'mon, man ... poppa needs his fix!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Agreed...SokMunki has won the internets.
  11. *squeals like a little girl with delight*

*devours Poe, but in the process, falls through the floor of the D and out into the void, then through several dimensions*

    Uh....Hmm...
Steal, from the person holding the keys, their favorite Hero Clix. Threaten to draw curly mustaches (this is where the pencil comes in), goatees, etc. on their Hero Clix unless they unlock you.

  13. *sucks up all the electricity happily*

    *pokes people, electrocuting them*
  14. *crawls out from under the piano, moaning and bleeding all over the floor*

*grabs Te by the ankle as he walks by, draining him and causing him to smash his head on a rock at the same time*
  15. It's awesome having an energy-sucking Warshade dragon-girl who kills computers just by getting within one foot of them ^_^
  16. *is a female*

*drains the frog dead at the merest contact*

*drains BB just by poking him*
  17. *drains Entropy of all energy and leaves the husk behind*
  18. "O, yah," she said. "'T'z how Khel teleport'z. She'z akshelly kind' diff'rent fr'm most oth'r Warshade's. 'N 'm NOT SHORT."
She was actually five-foot-three inches. And still growing. In fact, there were some adults she towered over.
Ink grinned, and went behind the bar. She rummaged around, looking for sodas.

When she found one, she grinned slightly evilly. "Watch th's."
Then she began violently shaking the can, in every direction possible, for about five minutes.
She tapped absently on the can, and popped the top.

    It didn't explode.

    She grinned.
"Wanna see me blow up a whole can? I c'n do that too. Pow'r ov'r soda. Lame, huh?" Of course, it wasn't any sort of power. Just a magic trick.
  19. "Most prob'bly," Ink said. "She w'z glow'ng like a star. She glow'z whenev'r she find'z a lotta en'rgy, 'n 've nev'r seen 'r that bright b'fore. M' guess iz, she'z not g'nna let th' rest 'a 'er meal get 'way that eezy."
She shrugged, and handed each of them another donut. Jaws snatched a third one out of the box. Inky always had donuts on hand, and nobody knew where she got them for sure.

Nobody. Except her, and she wasn't telling. Just one of those funny little mysteries of the Isles.
  20. Ink got off the machine, and tapped Energon.
"'Ey, y' got 'ny ideya where Khel went?" She looked rather worried, shuffling her feet. "'D she run off t' go eat Poe 'r sumth'ng?"
  21. She shook her head at Kip, blood running from her mouth. "...Don't worry...about me..." she rasped, even more quietly than usual. "...I'll be...Okay in...a few...minutes...Look out...for yourself..."
Khel coughed again, and slumped over in another chair. Her eyes widened, and it became apparent for the first time that her pupils were milky white.
But she was obviously not blind.

"...So...It looks like...we're trapped..." she said, her breath slowly returning. "...And that damn Poe...had better give me...back my energy-leeching--" she coughed -- "...Then again..." she grimaced, her constant pain becoming obvious for the first time. "...Death might not be...so bad..."

    Khel sighed.
  22. KHeldragon suddenly found herself flying to the other side of the D backwards, towards the blue wall. She closed her eyes, relaxed, and braced for the impact.

She hit the wall with something like a cross between a clunk and a splat, really aggravating her injuries. She tried to raise herself off the ground, shuddered, and vomited blood.

With a great effort, Kheldragon pushed herself to her feet and staggered forward.
  23. She shrugged and raked her claws across the sound technician's mask. Then Khel leaped up like a raptor, slashing at his gut with her large talons. Those claws were hardly just for show.

The movement, however, was a bit much. She coughed into her hand. It appeared that nothing was there, but upon closer inspection, the spot would have ben unusually shiny.
    Coated with blood.

"...Well, more fun than...pinball, sure..." she said, spitting blood at a few more of the faceless people. She put one talon on the Zero clone's stomach, keeping him pinned to the ground.

Inside, she was consuming the smallest bit of the energy she'd stored. Khel had no idea how long she'd be trapped here, and she needed to keep her life support as long as possible.
  24. "...Scoot..." she rasped at them, realizing her powers were gone. She'd have to resort to cheap claw-fighting and something she did very well: Freaking people out. It probably wouldn't work on these virtual people, but it was worth a try. And her altered genetic structure was still intact, so she'd still regenerate.

It's a good thing she'd stored so much of Poe's energy before, because now that she couldn't absorb any more, she'd DIE if she ran out of energy.
    For good.

She made several choking, rasping noised, then coughed, and spat blood right onto Zero's face.
First line of defense. Would it work?
  25. Kheldragon met each of their faceless gazes in turn without flinching, stopping on DJ Zero.
"...You're not real..." she rasped. "...For starters, Zero has...a face, and in fact..." she frowned, reaching out her hand slighty. "...Your energy is...different...You're all virtual..." her eyes widened slightly.

Khel turned around and walked away nonchalantly, as if she'd just been talking to an ordinary person. Not much startled her any more.
What she didn't show, though, was that she was getting ready to drain the faceless people if they attacked.
