Game of Doom (open RP)
((You may find that a bit restrictive- I'm not sure how many have a character that's in their teens. I've only ever seen one around on the RP board, and she's a villain, not a hero))
Target Lad glared irritably at the flyer that had literally flown into his room, folded into a paper airplane. "Lovely." he growled, voice cracking slightly. "Even in the privacy of my own home, the stupidity finds me. Having powers in Paragon is a curse." He rolled his eyes, ruffled short dark hair, and put on what he (with distinct irony) thought of as his 'hero suit'... jeans, sneakers... and a white t-shirt with a huge bullseye on it.
Lastly, he slid on his sole concession to what he considered the rampant stupidity of the spandex set- a targetting monocle that fed back limited data on most of Paragon City's known supernatural and superhuman threats.
Then he scribbled a quick note to his parents (Sorry, have to go out- stupidity came knocking, AGAIN. You know how to get ahold of me if you need to.), grabbed his bow, double-checked that he had access to Cross-D storage, and flew out the open window.
Somebody's nosy. And 'powerful prizes' or no, they're getting a pointy present from me to remind them that when I'm off duty, I'm not interested. he thought. "And the first person that yells 'Teen Titans, GO!' is getting an arrow up their nose." he added aloud as he flew for the tram station.

Electro Monk landed near the truck that lead to Pocket D. "I better stay sharp, if I'm right about this being a trap then it could get really ugly...." He then leaned against a wall while he waited to see if anyone else would show up.
((Khel, actually, is eighteen or nineteen. ))
Kheldragon was clinging to a power line somewhere in Kings Row. The nearest houses were totally dark, thanks to her. She didn't mind, though -- she figured people could do without light for a couple hours.
And, suddenly, a paper -- somehow going at very high speeds -- smacked into her face. Surprised, she lost her grip on the power lines and landed hard on the streets below. There was cheering from the nearby houses as the lights came back on.
She slowly got to her feet, claws leaving grooves in the cement. The paper had landed face-up, and from where she was lying, she could read it quite clearly.
Khel thought for a moment, and decided this would be interesting. If the devices were that powerful, they'd be very good eating. And besides, there was a good chance this was a trap. Springing traps, taking blows, or otherwise being a...relatively human...shield was one of the things she did best.
Suddenly, Kheldragon was gone. There was only a faint purple cloud, with two white specks in what appeared to be its head.
She turned, flexed her claws, and slashed at the air in front of her.
For a few seconds, nothing happened. Then there was a slight groan, and a hole opened in the air. The cloud floated through it, and then the hole closed.
High above the truck that led to the D, another hole opened, expelled a near-invisible purple cloud, and promptly closed.
The cloud floated slowly to the ground, touched down in front of the truck, and closed its "eyes". The white specks vanished, and now only anyone who looked closely could see it.

Electro Monk looked over not too far from him and saw that someone else had shown up. "Hey, you here for the tournament too? You do realize it's most likely a trap, right?"
The cloud just moved a bit of its upper portion. It almost looked like it was nodding, and suddenly, the cloud disspiated. In its place was...Well, something relatively human. Whether it was male or female, it was hard to tell, because it wore a partial set of thick, high-tech armor.
It was huge, slightly over six feet tall, and rather muscular. A curtain of long, flame-red red hair hid its face, probably for the best. Instead of feet, it had digigrade (you know, like a cat's or dog's) paws, with three toes that ended in large talons. Its feet and hands were bare, its hands also being clawed, and covered with red scales.
A long, red-scaled tail swished lazily behind it. Bony red spikes grew from its shoulders.
It coughed, and nodded again. Suddenly there was blood on the ground in front of it.

Electro Monk winced slightly. "Ok.......so, what kind of powers do you have?"
"...I'm a Warshade..." It said from under its hair. The voice was very quiet and raspy, and out-of-breath, and it sounded as if the thing was speaking with half a lungful of water. But it was definitely female.
Beneath the hair, her eyes suddenly started glowing a bright purple. The air close to it suddenly deadened, as if it was sucking all the energy out of its surroundings. Which it was.
Kheldragon coughed into her hand. "...What about you?..." she croaked.

He tried not to look creeped out, even though he was. "Uh, I'm a mutant with healing and electric powers..."
Kheldragon nodded, and shrugged. She couldn't blame him for being creeped out. Of course, if this much of her creeped him out, she'd really better not let him see her face. And especially not her eyes.
She looked around, wondering if anyone else would get here, then straightened a little. Judging by the energy in the air, there was someone else approaching.
She coughed.

Shift sat on a ledge over the two who were conversing below. [i]Whoa the Warshade sounds like it's got a bad case of black lung. Well, if they don't already know I'm here I'd better make an introduction.[i]
"Yo kiddos up here. Any body know what the hell this is about," Shift said holding up one of the flyers. "If it's another one of those 'hey come and battle while we steal your powers kinda things' I'm so in it's not even funny. I love beating the crap outa those smart [censored] that think they can force me into doing this [censored]."
He looked down at the warshade, "Hey kid, you gonna be alright or should we get a medic or somethin,"

Target Lad emerged from the Tram and glided rapidly towards the 'rendezvous' point. He landed silently besides the others, nodding to acknowledge their presence, but otherwise pretty much ignoring them. Powers were a 'gift' he hadn't wanted, and the complications that came with them were a problem he really hadn't wanted. Especially not now, when he was barely thirteen.
Then Khelldragon coughed, and he glanced up at her, then down at the purplish blood. He looked at her for a moment, checking the Hero Registry on her, then wordlessly held out a fistful of crackling electricity, palm open, towards her. "It's not much." he said, "But hopefully it will help a little."
He turned to Electro Monk and Shift. "I caught a bit of your talking about 'it's a trap'. If it is, it's stupidly elaborate to the point the people running it would have to be idiots. I got the flyer at home." he commented offhandedly, trying not to blush as his voice broke (twice) in the middle of him talking. In any case, his tone made it quite clear that he wasn't ruling out the possibility of the people running the trap being idiots. He shrugged. "What are we waiting for, exactly?"
((Oh... yeah, Target Lad is just thirteen. He's also a bit of a cynical, arrogant knowitall brat, although he's got a good heart))

"...Yeah...I'll be all right..." she said, her voice barely audible from below. Someday, I hope. she added silently. Khel didn't know what this was about either. She, too, would do well if their powers were to be taken away (assuming she could store enough energy to keep herself alive).
Not only was her face creepy enough to give someone a heart attack, but she'd retain her claws and scales since that was her natural form.
She pulled a power core out of a pocket somewhere and gripped it tightly, slowly draining away all the energy it contained. A light snack she'd ripped out of a Crey pistol. With her other claw, she sucked in the orb of electricity in Target-Lad's hand.
((This is Khel. Ignore the fact that her face is showing. Like I said, she's eighteen or nineteen, but doesn't look it at all.))

(Ok, I'm going to continue now. Anyone else who wants to join can find a way to jump in during the tournament)
Suddenly all four heroes were warped into the center of a large, high-tech room. "This definitely looks like a trap..." Electro Monk said while glancing around the room cautiously. Suddenly, a cloaked figure stepped out onto a high up ledge.
"Young heroes, you have all been brought here for the greatest possible test of your abilities" The figure spoke in a clearly morphed voice.
"Alright, I'm listening." Electro Monk said, trying to avoid showing any signs of suspicion.
"The tournament will place you in several challenges. Whoever perfomrs the best in the tournament will be the winner."
Electro Monk nodded. "Alright, what's the first challenge?"
The figure stared at him intently. "For your first challenge, you must destroy an army of robotic arachnos soldiers!"
The heroes were again warped to a slightly smaller room, and found themselves surrounded by what looked like arachnos soldiers with loaded weapons.
"Ok, this is about to get ugly!"
"...Lovely..." Kheldragon said with the faintest edge to her voice. She flexed her claws, and a shimmering purple shield formed around them. It was a one-way shield, of course, so they could attack, but the shield was hardly invincible.
She reached out, perfectly calmly, and managed to touch eight bots at once. There was a fizzing and a sparking, and suddenly they all crumpled to the ground, broken and drained.
Khel's eyes began glowing again as she hurled a bolt of Nictus energy through the ranks of the robots directly in front of her. It wasn't as effective as draining them, however, and they advanced.
She disappeared in a cloud of purple energy with a loud BOOM, and was replaced by a glowing, flying squid-thing. It lashed its tail and sprayed the dark energy in a wide cone in front of her, sending many of the bots flying. It was followed up with a ball of energy that hit one of the robots and exploded with a BOOM almost as loud as her transformation.
Thousands of bullets embedded themselves in her squiddy skin, but she barely felt it. She was very used to pain. It was her constant companion.
The squiddy's body gave out, and she dropped out of the form, falling forwards onto the floor. She coughed several times, creating a pool of red on the floor.
Khel reached out to the bots right in front of her and grabbed their ankles, draining them completely. Then she whipped around and fired Nictus energy at some of the others, putting a good chunk of the attention on her.
After all, a human shield was what she did best. And through all this, she still managed to keep her face hidden from the others. No sense in them losing their nerve and getting killed.

Electro Monk focused his healing energies to quickly make work of kheldragon's wounds, then hurled a bolt of electricity at one of the robot soldiers and short curcited it.
But the fight was far from over, and several more robot soldiers piled up on top of Electro Monk, forcing him to the ground.
"Get...off...of me...you heaps of scrap!" He cried as he launched electric energy from every pore in his body and zapped all the robots off of him.
He breathed heavily. "Some days this job really stinks..."
(Electro Monk is very heroic and has a great sense of humor unlike some heroes, but it bugs him when being a hero feels more like work than fun)
((Just so ya know, Khel's internal wounds -- the reason she'd coughing and vomiting blood -- can't be healed. The bullet wounds, sure, if that's what you meant, but the ones she had when this started can't.))
She slowly got up, the needles (to her) of pain completely gone. She jumped at a couple of the bots like a raptor, making great gouges in their metal guts with her talons. They were designed for disembowelling, after all.
One tried to jump on her back. It found itself impaled on her shoulder spikes, and promptly drained.

Shift rolled to the side as soon as he appeared expecting an ambush. He created a field of heightened gravity, to slow the incoming projectiles, around a zero g field positioned directly under him allowing him to float (he hadn't exactly managed to figure out flying yet, but it was in the works). He threw his right arm up and pointed at the left side of the group and lowered the gravity while pointing at the right side and increasing it.
Shift summoned a high g field around the heroes trying to deflect at least some of the bullets. "Well guys, this party just got started and it looks like it's gonna be a hella-shindig," He said as one of the bullets managed to make it through his gravity field and graze his left cheek. The offending bot was roughly tossed into the air and slammed into the ground a Shift made the gravity fluctuate.
I hope someone has got a plan or something, cause this is taking alot of energy. Shift thought as he felt his energy begin to waver.

Kheldragon felt his energy growing weaker. Whether that was because of him using so much of his powers, or because she was involuntarily draining everyone and everything near her, she didn't know. She ALSO didn't have a plan.
She transformed with another BOOM into a giant, hulking, shadow-lobster-thing, and dug her claws into several of the robots. They sparked and died, and most of the bullets were bouncing off her Dwarf shell. Of course, there were also quite a few that found their mark.
She leaped into the air and landed on about ten more robots, crushing them beneath several tons of space lobster, just wondering what would happen next. With everyone's efforts, they were actually making a dent in the army.
But how long could they go on?

Target Lad had drifted ceilingwards as soon as they had teleported in- by both habit and inclination, he rarely touched ground when 'heroing'. The second they had appeared in the large room, he had pulled out his bow and drawn back, ready to deliver his 'pointy present' to their captor(?). Unfortunately, they had been re-teleported before he could let fly and he relaxed momentarily, un-nocking the arrow.
"Why can't these contests of champion idiocies ever include something nice, like a pie-eating contest or something?" he complained as he drew his bow again. "Of course, there'd probably be poisoned pies mixed in, or something equally stupid..." he sighed, rolling his eyes as he drew a big fistful of arrows and let fly, neatly puncturing the throats of more than a dozen of the arachnodroids.
This was promptly followed by an arrow with an explosive head that completely wrecked his earlier targets, and he turned to picking off individual 'bots, drawing, aiming and releasing in rapid, smooth succession. Occasionally he'd wreathe one in electrical power to lock it in place, or clout it over the head with lightning-wrapped fists if it got too close.
"Whatever we're doing, it's working. The squid knows her stuff." he commented aloud. "These things have all the tactical acuity of goldfish... they're reacting like she said unkind things about their mothers." He kept firing, content to let Kheldragon take the lead.

(This RP is for young heroes, so your character must be 20 or younger, all NPCs in this RP are controlled by me)
Electro Monk took the flyer from the lamp post and examined it carefully:
"The tournament will test the abilities of young heroes, rewarding the winner with powerful new devices to help them with bringing justice to the city. All young heroes interested in taking part in the tournament should come to Kings Row, near the entrance to Pocket D at 9:00. Make sure to not be followed."
He read it with suspicion. "This is probably a trap..." He thought allowed. "But If I'm going to find out, and stop it if I'm right, I'm going to have to spring it." With that, he flew off to Kings Row.
(alright, start joining. You should probably start with your character finding out about the tournament, as well)
EDIT: (Just to help this topic with popularity, I'm now also allowing adult heroes disguised as younger heroes)
