Rise to the Challenge is a good skill (especially when fully 6-slotted with SO's of nothing but heals.) so Yeah, I can take some major hits and keep on movin.
The first 3 SOs get you to 95% enhancement. The second three SOs, due to the diminishing returns curve, get you another 5%. Further, RTTC does not do anything against incoming damage; it boosts your regeneration rate, proportional to the number of enemies within its aura - and when chasing down a dropship, you have at most one enemy boosting RTTC.

It would be wrong to say that this conversation is above your level, because it is precisely at your level that any changes intended to improve the new player experience should be aimed. Just be aware that, based on what you have said so far, there are many things you have yet to learn.
  2. Hm.

Well, I am male in flesh, have over 2 dozen characters, and most are female. I've stopped thinking about why; it happens, and it's fine. I dress them how I'd think they'd want to dress, which varies quite a bit. The freelance succubus enjoys showing off her figure, except when it's time for a spot of the old ultra-violence - then she puts on the spiky black demon armor. The humanoid plant alien wears wooden armor for combat, but otherwise goes nude for photosynthetic purposes (not that you could tell - she has bark!). The giant lizardy chimera is opposed to clothing on principle and for practical reasons (it catches on her scales) but will put on pants for visitors. The more human types wear more reasonable outfits, each according to their preference, which varies from Japanese armor to three-piece suits to frilly maid outfits (yes, really: Clockwork Maid wouldn't dream of being caught out of uniform) to scuba gear.

I would like to throw further support toward the notion of more sexy clothing for men. Heavy Metal Thunder is a rock star - he must dress outrageously! And as for Handsome Boy, accidental male model, well...

    Tanker Offense?

Ranged offense + high survivability = Fortunata, Crab Spider, human-form Peacebringer.

Objecting that these lock one into a concept betrays a lack of imagination.

Haven't tested this, but isn't it like the Confuse code, where the damage they do is weighted less? I.e., if they do 50% of the damage, they only steal (making numbers up) 25% of the xp?

    Good question.

The MA buff-bot brings up an interesting question: since it's trivially possible to use the MA for endurance management, wouldn't it be reasonable to add quickly recharging rest to encourage people to go through the non-MA early-game content?

    [/ QUOTE ]
You're assuming here that the MA buff-bot ally is working as intended, and that the devs really meant to give us allies with tier 9 Defender powers at level 1 (and conversely that MA custom enemies should have access to tier 9 powers at level 1). I have my doubts about this, and I certainly wouldn't use it as a base for any argument to otherwise improve low level endurance management.

I'm mostly just saying that if you personally have difficulties with low-level endurance management, right now there is a phenomenally effective way around this. However, it's not really relevant to the key concern, which is that low level end management might be driving away new players, because it's unlikely that a new player knows to rush straight to the AE building and write himself a farm (and, indeed, this would be a terrible way to experience the game's content for the first time).

You know Pippy, I was thinking about this today amidst all of the X spots left for AE farm team broadcasts and it suddenly dawned upon me that the devs HAVE given us unlimited health and endurance just now in I14.

All it costs is a tad of debt (nothing prior to level 10) that is elliminated after killing a mob or 2. Just play in the AE from 1-20. The hospital is right next to the mission entrance no matter what kind of mission you are running.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You're a genius!

I'd still like to have a quicker recharge on Rest. But I think this will do just fine.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Heck, it's even easier than this. Create a mission on a large map with an easy built-in enemy type, and a rescuable boss-level ally with basic Earth Control and extreme Empathy placed in the Front area. Tada, you've solved end management, as well as HP management, accuracy issues, mitigation...

Unless, of course, you're not a high-damage AT. Because while a damage AT can build a support ally to cover their weaknesses, adding a damage ally to a support AT will rob you of XP.

Just what the hell is a 'Code 6' and why has there been one going on at 105 North Avenue for FOUR YEARS?!

    Coffee & donut run.

I'd like to see the events:
    * That caught the attention of the Rikti in the first place and angered them to war.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That'd be a Nemesis plot. And no, I'm not even joking.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You were correct up to here.

    [ QUOTE ]
He went to their dimension and mutated them into the appearance they have today. They actually used to look like ordinary humans, but the Lost prove that one can turn into a Rikti. Why did he do it? Who knows.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I certainly don't recall ever seeing anything about this. As far as I know, the Rikti are alternate-dimensional humans who deliberately bioengineered themselves into their current forms. The Lost are humans who are undergoing a process that turns them into new Rikti soldiers, which is how the Rikti are reinforcing themselves despite not having reliable access to the homeworld. And in any case it's not what caused the Rikti to attack.

    Spoiler:

Nemesis deliberately provoked war between the Rikti and humanity in order to weaken both dimensions for an eventual Nemesis takeover. He created robotic duplicates of the Freedom Phalanx and sent them to the Rikti dimension to break stuff. The Rikti traced the duplicates back to our dimension and counterattacked. That was the first Rikti invasion.

This is all revealed in the RWZ story arcs.

Incidentally, I'd like to know whether the Rikti motherships and dropships are actually capable of space travel. Since the Rikti homeworld is basically Earth, and the dimensional jump is apparently safe for unprotected humans (see Portal Corp), the motherships would never have had to leave atmosphere to make the trip...

I'd love to see a new system of advancement [...] that doesn't use XP, but rather tracks advancement based on completion of certain tasks.

    YES. Metroidvania MMO.

    ... it'll never happen though...
  9. Thanks for the replies thus far, folks. It looks like:
    A) There is a certain degree of interest in this kind of thing, but
    B) Nobody's done it yet, or if they have, nobody on the RP board knows about it.

I'm going to make a couple queries in other forums and report the results here. If there really isn't anything of this type in existence yet, I guess I'll have to see what I can do to organize it.

Incidentally, if people are looking for a gentle introduction to arena PvP that isn't as RP-oriented, you might want to check out Giza Fight Night, which generally gets announced every week on the Virtue boards and runs Saturday at 8 EST. I know the people who run and participate in it - they're great guys and highly competent PvPers who are happy to give tips.
  10. I'm really not sure whether to ask this here, in the PvP forums, or somewhere else. I know what I want, but not how to get it.

    I'm looking for enemies.

I've had a fine time with a great group of PvE/RP players, but one thing that has always bothered me about our play is that our heroic and villainous characters are at the very least not hostile toward each other, and are often friends. This works well for this particular group, because they're mainly focused on player-versus-NPC stories, but I really feel like I'm missing out on a lot of potentially interesting scenarios.

What I'm looking for is a paired set of heroes and villains who are each other's sworn rivals. I want to create or join such a group, and contribute to an ongoing story of conflict between heroes and villains. I want to exchange barbs and threats over drinks in Pocket D. I want to exchange blows and blasts in the open PvP zones and the arenas. I want to create and foil nefarious plans, and not just the same NPC-created ones over and over. And I want to do so, not with total strangers, but with people who I can trust to value a good enemy over a cheap ganking.

I would very much appreciate any help in finding something like this - or if nothing like this already exists, I guess I will have to make it. Thank you for your time and patience.
