  1. Ok, a couple words before I leave work today. Just as last time Jock, these are fantastic stories. And I'm glad that this incarnation of The Book of Jock has inspired so many new tales. If you recall from my reactions to the original thread, I am a big supporter of Darkity, and also believe that Storm's arrogance is disproportionatley large when compared to it's level of ability. (That's right, I said it. Fight me!).

Now if I remember the sequence correctly, we are approaching the end of these tales. Perhaps I am a bit naive, but I hope that the overwhelming positive response to this reincarnation would inspire Jock to begin a New Testament.

    So, in closing, A toast:

To stories which can inspire and enflame,
And to endings which should do the same.

EDIT: Oops, posted too late. Move along, nothing to see here.

Maybe all you haters should go visit Virtue.

Woot! Infinity is still up! It's just a damn shame I'm still at work and can't play anyway. Oh well, 1 hour to go!
  5. I agree with everything said in this post, I just would have said it with a bit less venom.

Maybe they shouldnt have anymore double XP weekends at all, sine it always manages to royally piss everyone the hell off.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't piss me off. It pleases the hell out of me. I enjoy leveling much faster; moving along toons that had been stuck for a while. I love being able to get on a good team very easily, and I enjoy being asked to join a good team while I'm already on a good team (that just makes me giggle). I enjoy seeing people who had left due to real life getting in the way, or to check out other MMOs ( I like to ask them "What news do you bring from the outside world?").

The only thing I don't like about double XP weekend is that I so often miss a good chunk of it due to work.

And it is also important to note that while a few people on the boards have a lot of negative things to say, they are a minority of the forum community which is itself a minority if the game playing community.

Hmm, could be just me, but I havent had problems logging into Freedom except a few times and eventually got on. With 2 gigs of Ram and running 2 accounts I'm doing just fine.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm surprised you haven't had a mob at your door with torches and pitchforks... or Lady_Athyna aiming the orbital laser at the roof of your house...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, this is something I was surprised about too. Granted I am an outsider. I currently reside on Inifinity (and damn, being on the third most populated server never sounded so sweet), but Freedom was my first home. I played on freedom straight through from CoH beta to CoV launch. The only reason I switched to infinity is because while I was in CoV beta, I got invited to a VG when the game went live that just happened to be based on Infinity.

While reading this thread (because I have to work during most of Double XP weekend) one of the thoughts I keep having is "there bur for the grace of god go I."

Now that you know enough of my background to determine for yourself whether or not my opinion is worthwhile, here it is.

    1) every server has RMTers and other undesireables taking up room. It is not just limited to Freedom, and the devs have been taking steps to try to curtail their population, but there is only so much a few game developers can do when faced with the limitless potential of human ingenuity motivated by relatively easy money.

    2) From what I gathered from Lighthouse and Ghost Falcon's posts, this is not only record high server populations, but record high game populations. So while they might have seen this problem developing, it would have been dificult to predict that the measures they had already taken would be insufficient.

    3) "Lock out all of the transfers to Freedom" I have two problems with this line of thought. First, if someone is motivated enough to transfer to freedom just to get PLd (which they could have done on any server really, or at least the top five), then chances are they'd be motivated enough to roll the toon they want on freedom, get PLd over the weekend and just transfer off a toon in the high thirties or higher afterwards. Second, I could have sworn that I heard a lot of people from Freedom bragging when transfers were first opened and people spent their own hard earned money to move to Freedom. Not only were they bragging, but they were advertising or maybe the better word is campaigning to get people to transfer over. I'm not saying this is your fault, I'm just saying: be careful what you wish for.

    4) This is where we get to the suggested solution segment (yay alliteration!) of the post. From time to time, throughout this thread, I have heard people make reference to having multiple accounts logged in at once. If Freedom is anything like Infinity, at least 1 out of every 5 people knows someone who has multiple accounts. That ratio tends to go up drastically when the field is narrowed to the forum going population. My suggestion is that you make every effort to convince people you know who are running multiple accounts concurrently, to pick one account at a time to run. You can do this several ways: you can simply ask them, and if that does not have the desired response, try annoying or bugging or harassing them. If that doesn't work, try excluding them from good teams.

In my (admitedly skewed) opinion, that is probably the best solution to allow more people to enjoy double XP weekend without calling for the exclusion of anyone.

Hmmm, I think you have Cuapp confused with somebody, I just can't recal who.

    oh yeah.
  9. If one person on your team has tactics, she's done. I also plan on getting clarity for my ice/sonic which should help a little (though not as much as tactics)

I like the Patron Powers, I like the reddish electricity, it's cool all around, imho. Sadly, hardly anyone seems to agree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Same here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ditto.

though I did find it kind of amusing that for the first 15 or so pages of this thread there were maybe 4 people who were in favor of Patron Powers and now, since Statesman has graced this thread with his presence (yes I'm sucking up, can we have issue 7 now?), all of the pro PPP people are coming out of the woodwork.
  11. I kind of doubt that they are nerfing aid self, seing as how they buffed it an issue or 2 ago to get more poeple to take it. (That buff was to add a bit of disorient resistance to it).
