Ok, poked around here and there and shifted some stuff around. Pulled out the purp set in vines for now after double checking that prices for low end Purp sets are still sky high because of the enh converters coming out. I didn't shift another slot to frost breath because I already have 5 6.25 bonuses, 5 is max right?, though I would gladly shift a slot from one of the other places I have a 6.25 bonus if Frost Breath is worth it.
*Edit: Forgot to poke around at Seeds' six slots relocated to Frost Breath

I'll probably go with Ageless and work on getting Incandescence as well for getting people around. I was thinking of doing Intuition as Ageless easily offsets any end problems. And more damage is always welcome for a troller. I'll throw around some stuff for the rest of the Posi bonuses. I'll probably throw the slots from Spirit Tree into O2 boost because that seems like a better idea.

I've spent about three days looking over the controller forums checking out builds. I was going to do Plant/Time at first, but then I remembered I don't like helping people like Time helps people. So I chose Plant/Storm because it seems down right fun on paper and in game.
This build will be used for locking down mobs in Mo TFs, hard TFs, and of course beating the tar out of iTrials. Most of this build is thanks to DeathHarvester who's build I cannibalized to create my own. This Build relies on an AoE/Debuff focus to help with the large mobs in TFs and to help dig up and tear down AVs. Thanks also go out to Local_Man and Draggyn for their comments on suggestions on all the Plant/Storm threads I have read.

I took an old build off of the Tank Guide in the Tank Forums and retooled it a bit because it was from i14. I'm not a rich guy, but I could swing the Emp Merits to get the one uber expensive PvP IO I have in there.
Anyway, I'm not very good at building or rebuilding for the most part. I want to be a fun tanky tank, which is why I'm not takin' ol' Invuln/Axe instead. I'm going to use this guy on TFs and Trials, my goal is not to die and to make sure the people around me do not die as well. I would greatly welcome any critiques, criticisms, and insights!

I am very new to making my own build in mids. I plan on doing TF's and Trials, I want to serve my intended purpose as a controller and control stuff. My goal are a healthy chunk of recharge and enough survivability so I have a chance to control.

Ok, first off there is a entire thread devoted to arguing over what the best farmer is...at least when it comes down to brutes. Why do I make this exception? Because a spines/fa scrapper can do some pretty mean things as well.
Back to your point, between SS/FA and Elec/FA it is a tough one. It basically comes down to the fact that as you hit 50 and really begin to farm you are going to want a fairly strong AoE up at all times and you want that AoE not to have a long cast time. For SS/FA your Attack chain includes Burn, Footstomp, Mu Ball Lightning, and Mu Electric Fences. For SS/FA you do not need anything beyond that once you are slotted at the very least with SO's.
Rage gets you +dmg and a little +tohit. Rage crashing ends up taking a chunk of your end, you know when you've crashed when end goes down/you were looking at your bar/you now see orange "1"s all around you. That is when you stop dmg. Rage is great, and if you time your hasten to be used right after your crash you will see a shorter down time as well.
With Elec/FA you don't necessarily want more AoE's you just want a solid chain that will allow unbroken AoE dmg, you don't ever want be hitting non AoE's unless in FA's case it is Fiery Embrace. EM's really has 2 AoE's anyway. I wouldn't count Jacob's Ladder and Chain Induction is...well a chain.

You can solo GM's in many ways, but frankly Fire/Rads are really for teams. If you want a GM/AV slayer go for an Ill/Rad or some of the very effective scrapper builds. With all the toggles, debuffs, and auras Fire/Rads are beasts at team play in TFs/Missions/Raids.
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. -

Another update on what I've been doing and how the whole "team troller" thing is working out for me.
My Fire/Rad is 45 and chilling there for now, my Ill/rad is 50 and I'm almost done with her low end slotting. As I am at the university right now I cannot post my build but I went Ill/Rad/Cold(ice/whatever) going with Ice blast, hibernate, frostbreath, and ice storm. The build I have modeled it after is a variation of one of Helluva Goon's that he posted more recently than not...but of which I cannot find at the moment.
I can already feel my Ill/Rad is going to be a beast in teams, especially for TF's and what not. I am having a great time just mixing it up with my friend when I am playing around in farms...which my Ill/Rad isn't even designed for. I look forward to creating much joy among my team and much chaos amongst her enemies.
When I do decide to finish out my Fire/rad (after I do some quick and dirty leveling on my Ice/Ice/Cold blaster) I am going to do a group farming build that should be fun. Suffice to say I'll be playing with all the dmg AoE abilities Fire/Rad has to offer including Fallout and will most likely be going Fire/Rad/Fire as I lay waste at damage cap with my Fire/Kin friends. -

I really don't care for the power that much as a controller, for the best bang for your buck pick up manuvers and shove a LotG 7.5% recharge in there if you have the money.That might also help Pyro close the gap on his little down time and over all increase control as abilities come up faster.
Other than that, what kind of play style are you going for Jharber? -
Hay Mr.Local_Man, I was wondering if you've had a chance to go through pre-i19 build and rework it for all the changes. If so I would love to see your reworked build, if not I've already got your old build saved and am toiling to rework it for post i19.

When I finally start my ice/ice/cold she will be my baby, I will heap upon her much influence and she will be purpled and it will be good. But first I must make a destroyer of worlds(Fire/Kin) and a supporter of the masses (Fire/Rad or Ill/Rad or Crab Spider). I spurn melee like nobody's business, I have and will always be a caster class.

Again, thank your for all who have posted. A little update is in order, as I have continued to read and research. This weekend I am planning on finally finishing out my first fully IO slotted build on my Fire/Kin, not anywhere near purps yet but fully slotted none the less.
That being said, I have started up a Fire/Rad which got to lvl 10 in short order, I am basing my build off of a slightly older post by Local_Man, the build had yet to be modified for the change to inherint fitness. I would also like to play around with a Crab Spider as well as an Ill/Rad as both have a lot of versatility and survivability to offer. Ice has always been one of my favorite sounding and visual powers, the crackle and crunch of ice as you bring foes to a frosty doom.
That all being said, my list kind of looks like this, but in no particular order:
Fire/Rad Troller
Ill/Rad Troller
Ice/Ice/Cold Blaster
Crab Spider (SoA)
Having a hard time deciding, but judging by the amount of infl I have to work with (very little) I most definitely am favoring the Trollers and Crab before the Blaster because I will have the compulsion to dump tons of money into him.

Thank you for the posts so far. Very helpful and fun to read. I've taken you on some of your advice local and reserved the name Abomb Shelly for a Fire/Rad should I so choose to create one. Thinking up more names and what not now.

I have recently come back to CoX from a very very long break do to schooling and work. I have a 50 Fire/Kin that is very task oriented and 4serious in the language of the internet.
As far as what I mean by fun? I mean an effective character that meshes well in most if not all team compositions. I've read a lot on these forums the past few weeks and I would love to see what people have to say about this.
Please don't hesitate to post builds, as I am in love with Mids and use several builds I have found around the forums to play with and what not. Facts as well as opinions are welcome, though when asking such a question I do expect a bit more opinion than fact!
