  1. See? Hereos got it better!

Now, jokes aside, apart from the stalker, I'd like to see some PvP buff to some of the villain classes. Not sure if they'll ever get it though.

I dont believe in dominators. The damage is simply too low.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I will agree with all Night says but i just want to point out that domi set is not really about the damage...will be all about delivering massive amounts of control within the field...and is well known who controls the field has the upper hand....

    [/ QUOTE ]
Domis don't come even close to the control abilities of trollers (perhaps with domination... but I wonder how often a domi gets to use it in PvP), so there goes another class out of the window.

Face it, heroes got it better!
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Still, I've seen Blade/* Stalkers getting kills in Sirens, so it isn't a lost cause

    [/ QUOTE ]
You couln't see me then... I'm on Union.

On a more positive note, the AS damage can't be resisted in PvP, so it doesn't matter what you use for that, and the ninja blade has a small accuracy bonus.

It CAN be resisted in PvE, thus I found it much easier to AS CoT ghosts and Freakshow Tanks with my EN stalker than my ninja blade stalker. (And the animations are shorter, cos you don't have to pull the damn blade every time you use a power from the secondary set! )
  4. Why are those pets called "fluffy" anyway?
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Well since two CMs work at spotting Stalkers with Hide+Stealth I figure Focused Accuracy +Clear Mind/Tactics/various-other-+perception-powers should be able to spot them.

It'll suck to be a Stalker when there's a Dark Armour of SR scrapper around.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So it's even one less class from that "best PvP class" set.

Oh well, I guess I'll be visiting Sirenes mostly.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Well at 40-50 every Scrapper and his mother has Focused Accuracy which gives +perception, so if they don't have Stealth+Hide atleast, they're mincemeat.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hmm... shouldn't stalkers get a lvl 40+ power pool called "super stealth" then?

EDIT: Don't all PvP stalker builds include Hide+Stealth? And I'd like that Focus thingy myself ya know!

    [ QUOTE ]
Actually, Stalkers suck in higher level PvP and will be completely obsolete in Recluse's Victory (Lvl 50 PvP zone coming in I7).

    [/ QUOTE ]

A somewhat blanket statement as it is impossible to make such a claim given that the ability to test it is not in existance yet.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Besides... why would they?

Anyway, I've been thinking hard and couldn't really think of another class that would do good in PvP.

Brutes need rage, and that's gone once you're dead.
Corruptors are far behind in damage dealing, and no damage = you don't win
Materminds- I haven't seen them in action, but AFAIK most people just go for the mastermind and ignore the pets...
Dominators are a minority in PvP... have seen so few around. :/
That leaves us Stalkers, who are one-hit wonders. High-suprise damage output is damn good in PvP.

I guess if you'd ask for a second spot, it'd be brutes. Cos once they get charged up, they CAN dish a load of damage.

EDIT: Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'd gladly be proven wrong actually. As this is a grim view on how effective villains are in PvP.
  8. Bah! "I don't want stalkers, I don't want this answer..."

    <mumbles something about whiners>
  9. There's none... Heroes win.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I think it depends on the secondary. I wouldn't play a /regen Stalker and I play /regen Scrappers a lot. Lower HP means lower regen rate.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm in the process of making a */regen stalker. So far so good (PvE wise).
  11. I know you're all heroes, but what if you'd fight against a team of blasters? They excel in ranged damage, no?

    Inspirations

I don't like it when people use inspirations in Sirenes is beacuse:
    a) you can't buy them IN Sirenes... only way to get 'em is to leave the zone (loose the bounty) or kill mobs (small chance of getting what you really want).
    b) heroes with their lvl cap have a lot more inspiration slots, so they CAN stock up on inspirations and then they'll have enough for quite some time. Villains don't have this advantage.

Anyway, that's why I don't like 'em in Sirenes. I'm not going to whine about anyone using them though.

PS. Although I did once see a lvl 40+ hero (I checked his lvl... he wasn't 50, but I think he was close) fighting a low lvl brute, and burning TONS of respites. Looked VERY silly.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
You can't jump off of Caltrops...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Tell that to all the NPCs who jumped out of my Tar Patch. OK, so it's not Caltrops, but still...
  14. Please don't start a debate on "what's more cool, Rogue Isles or Paragon City?", OK? Just pick a meeting point already!
  15. [ QUOTE ]
The whole "forgetting to turn on toggles"-deal sounds awfully familiar .

    [/ QUOTE ]
Damn, the only time I got killed as my stalker in Sirenes was when I forgot to turn on mez protection and got a massive hold from all the heroes I've been annoying. OK, so it's not a toggle, but a clicky, but still...

And even after that I would forget to turn the bloody thing on! <hits his head against a brick wall>

  16. Is that a decision, or another suggestion? (I don't mind it being a decision, just as long as others are fine with it too.)
  17. *ehem*

    So... where shall it be?
  18. [ QUOTE ]
As for stormies being 'immune' to AS (...)

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't mind stormies being immune to AS. But they're immune to ALL meele classes. Than again, if I see sombody with that aura, I just look for a different target. If he's go friends in that aura, it's only a matter of time before one of them jumps out of it.

    [ QUOTE ]
And using the geography for tactics isn't an exploit, it's SMART. Whoever heard a military commander go "Oh nooo. we can't use those trees to hide in before the ambush. that's not FAIR to our enemy." I even use containers and boxes and whatever can give me an edge when I play PvE.

TP'ing people into a place where you can't get out because of GAME MECHANICS though, is a completely different matter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I hate to compare to WoW, but I will... WoW had a similar problem with "roof snipers". People would jump onto the roofs of buildings in towns and start to shoot others, and the town guards would do nothing against them. Smart? Perhaps. Tactics? Why, yes. (A sniper also hides in a building, where the enemy won't see him). Fair? Hell no! Those doing it were frowned upon and reported. A similar situation IMHO happens when you get TPed and thrown into a bus stop. That could even be worse, cos that controller might as well go and have a lunch, and still keep the person trapped.

Also, on the team aspect that is being brought up, I'd like to point out that villain ATs don't work in teams as well as hero ATs. They aren't as speciallized. Thus, a team of heroes has an AT that does a specific job and excels at that job, while villains have a mix, that will never be as good.
Of course this all comes down to the organization of those who play, but still... heroes have it a lot easier in that regard.

And finally, developers should NOT only look at "team balancing". 1 on 1 is just as important.
  19. Soul Warden / Spirit Warden- I haven't RPed with them yet, so I haven't really though about it. But I guess they are a lot older than they look. I'd say between 200 and 300 years.

Crimson Assassin looks to be 25, but might be a year or two older (you can never tell with her).

Unknown Phantom (with whom I want to RP, but haven't gotten a chance yet, as he's a new char) is... well, he probably knows his age, but it's hard to get it out of him as he doesn't speak at all. He only gesticulates and sometimes throws images into the heads of others. (Oh yes, RPing with him might be hard, I can already tell )

Green Beret is in his late 40s. He's in good shape though (Ahh, those daily excercises).

Tech Assassin- the body itself is rather new as far as cyber bodies go; roughly 8 months old. But the brain that operates it is a lot older; probably late 50s.

The Greenhouse project- He's 21 (the controled mutation being recent). But he'll look 21 in 50 years as well.
  20. Since when does mez protection (even with knockback res) help against repel?

Oh, and don't get me wrong. But if you can hold a PC helpless in one place, kill NPCs around you and eat food IRL then something is wrong. And I wouldn't call that skill either. Well, perhaps I would... I mean, eating AND playing... Now THAT'S a skill.

Also, the recent changes seem to indicate that quite a lot of auto-hit powers will be changed and will need to pass an accuracy check.
  21. For late PvP: SR.

For early (up to lvl 30) PvP: Ninjitsu.

The AoE defense bonus from SR doesn't come until lvl 32, and before that it's lower than Ninjitsu (with a little better defense versus meele and ranged). Ninjitsu also has a nice little bonus in the form of a self heal, and the mez protection is also a good one (protects against fear and confuse). Yes, it's lacking knock-back protection.

So, if you like Sirenes Call, I'd say: go for Ninjitsu. If you want to risk a little (we don't yet know what the final PvP zone will be like, besides the name, and Warburg is not as fameous as SC), then go for SR.
  22. About the Hurricane/bus stop thing... I think it's because repel (the attribute of certain powers) ALWAYS works and can't be resisted. This means that anyone with a repel power is completely safe from ALL meele classes, and can throw them into corners from which they have no chance of getting out. Add an accuracy check, and viola. Problem solved.
  23. [ QUOTE ]

    MBar rolled a Mercs/FF Mastermind.

    He took Serum.

    He used it once.

Then he timed the recharge at something utterly ludicrous like 16 minutes (may be an exaggeration, I can't remember the exact figure)

Then he respecced out of Serum.

That's my experience of Serum. Not direct, since I'm not MBar , but that's the impression I've got of it.

    YMMV

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Quote from Char Builder:

    Serum:

RCHG: 1000 (588 with 2 SO recharge reduction enhancements)
    DUR: 60

I assume it's in seconds. In that case 1000/60 = 16.(6) minutes. So he was right!

OK, what would be a good replacement for Serum?
  24. Hmmm... I don't want to scrap Assault... More damage is always better.

But I could scrap vengance, and take the +def and +dam and perhaps scrap Tacits as well.

Also, the builder reports serum to have a duration of 60 seconds. Not much indeed.
