But, see.. yet again we're forced into being Recluse's lackey. This is one of the major complaints many villain players have about this game. I can understand wanting to do something generic as it's incredibly easy to do, but compared to Kheldians, this is a poor, poor archetype.

Besides, the existing story arcs already establish your role in the Isles as a "Destined One", aka possibly the ONE VILLAIN that can tip the scales for Recluse's takeover of the world. Of course you're a flunky.... until you hand him his... [spoiler].

How would an Arachnos EAT be any different? Yeah, OK, fine, instead of being "J Random Villain" you're a handpicked Arachnos soldier, selected to "go freelance" for Recluse's benefit. If you decide to follow your own agenda instead of his, hey, that's cool too, as long as you can pull it off.

Besides, the Arachnos troopers milling around will still aggro to you same as anyone else. Guess you're not his favored pet after all, are you? Oh wait, he believes in Natural Selection, so yah, you better beat the crap out of anyone that looks at you funny.

There's all the Savage Land / Barsoom stories, plus the Asterix comics, the HG Wells time travel stuff, Jules Verne legends... any time you get into time travel, there's a question as to why you limit yourself to the "modern age" or equivalents.

Up until now we've been in a sort of "Sliders" multiverse, where we're still in the same Era, only with different permutations. NOW, we get to travel out of our native era, and into one that is radically different.

I fail to see how this is bad... you're right in that it's "not what the players asked for" but was probably the most awesome idea to make it onto the "We can implement this for I12" list.
