[interview transcript, Ziggursky Prison, Mental/Psych Ward 6-month evaluation]
So ya wanna hear about how Baroness Samedi came to be, eh?
=lights up a cig=
Well lets get somet'in' straight, hmm? I ain't evil. I'm just on the wrong side.
See this 'ere plate? Got dat in Haiti. When Baby Doc fell and de whole damn country went to crap. Somebody thought mebbe cappin' the local Voudoun priestess would be worth doin', I dunno. They missed... but not by much.
Now I get to wake up to it every damn mornin'.
=draws on the cig=
Why am I here? Well, when you be persona non grata in your own damn homeland, you'd go someplace else, no? That's why I'm here. But dere be a day comin', when that pitiful excuse for a guv'mint ain't be lookin', and dat be de day I descend upon Haiti and return it to de time when we was someplace to be respected.
Uh huh. Yah. You t'ink I'm nuts. Well let me tell ya somet'in', a'aight? Since I'm in HERE =rattles her handcuffs= that makes me nuts. If I were out THERE and doin' stuff to further my goals, then mebbe I'd no be nuts, eh chere? T'ink about dat. The ones that succeed, dey be 'visionary', or 'genius', or some such. But soon as you get yo' butt locked up, and you say anyt'in' about WHY you did what you got caught fo'.... den you nuts.
=stubs out cig and gives you a cold look=
Only reason I'm nuts is cos I'm locked up in dis 'ere prison.
[end interview]
POSTSCRIPT: The individual known as 'Baroness Samedi' is among those who went missing during the Arachnos raid and subsequent breakout. -
The closest 'job' I've found for most heroes is 'skip tracer' or bounty hunter.

(( I know. I've been trying to give folks a lot of maneuvering room to write up their own stuff... which hasn't happened!!))
Kashaye wheeled and bled the endurance off of a Revenant, rejuvenating her teammates. "Hang on! We just need to keep these jokers busy! If they keep sending their top talent at us, our two flank teams will be able to take out that C&C transmitter and their entire command structure in Steel collapses!"
Gwen nodded grimly, and stuck an arrow with a chunk of C4 on the tip square between the armor plate joints on one of the powersuits. The arrow exploded, bits of powersuit armor flying everywhere, and the blast knocked 10 other Crey soldiers off their feet. Miss Frigid followed up with several supercooled blasts that froze several more soldiers where they stood. -

Unless you actually choose the exposed brain option. Then I guess the difference between whats inside and outside gets kinda blurry.

When i saw those costume options i had the incredible urge to roll up one of the aliens from "mars attacks"... battle cry "We are your friends! Don't run!"
And then have to RP an incredibly acute sensitivity to all sonic abilities.... -
Things have been a bit slow lately, what with everyone over in CoV a lot of the other servers have been onesey-twosey as far as SG members is concerned... so...
We all rolled up alts and converged on Guardian!

Intruder, stop with the Websters and wake up.
"GRIEFING" is GAME SLANG. IT WILL NOT BE FOUND IN ANY DICTIONARY.
Therefore your "you misspelled the word therefore your definition is moot" argument is itself moot.
(sorry to have to pull out the great big club of obvious, but this whole method of rebuttal gets on my nerves.) -

Again, if you don't want to have your hero (or villain) set upon by the other side...
don't go to the PvP Zones!
-----------------------------
Now that I've said that:
Here's some things that might need to be tested vis a vis griefer-like exploits:
If a player is zoning in, and standing in the 'safe area' -- can he be TP'd out of the safe zone by use of TP Foe? Or hit by a sniper shot from outside the safe zone?
Can 'safe zone' heroes or villains be targeted at all?
Another possible 'problem' will be those that use TP Foe to 'fish' for opponents... say, high up on a building. Granted TP Foe has much less range than Recall Friend... but you can still 'drop' someone in midair and watch them take falling damage... over and over and over....
Not sure what abilities would allow resistance to 'teleport lock' - I suppose it'd be similar to other status effects.
As for the getting chain-held, controlled, slept, etc... yah well... it'd be the same as when in the Arena. Carry a break-free or two, if you pop it before the power recharges, you have a chance to either get away or hit them. -
(( Oh that was GOOD! And as a fellow kinetic, let me applaud the way that Quick's power effects were written. ))

To be clear: the code for sharing costume pieces between City of Heroes and City of Villains is NOT yet in...heck, it isn't even written yet. BUT we'll do it after release - hopefully very soon after release. Then heroes can have access to the new options.
To be honest, this idea came specifically from this thread. Since people wanted the new costume options, I checked with Software - who said it could be done. Just wanted to let you know that yes, we do take suggestions!
FYI - for those who don't like the idea because villains should look different than heroes - remember that villains already have hero options. They can create a character identical to one that exists in City of Heroes.

Rock on! I can finally make my Deacon character!!
(I still think the 'chest emblem' should be placed on the BACK of the 'motorcycle 2' jacket, perhaps the scaled-down version can go on left breast pocket as well.) -
(caution - violent content)
As soon as she set foot inside the underground base, Feral Tigress felt her breath catch, and then quicken.
That SCENT! The scent that she smelled all around her childhood home, the scent that clung to the walls, floors, bedclothes, drapes, and especially to the bodies of her adoptive parents.
Gun oil.
Leather treatment.
Burnt propellant.
Cheap cologne.
And the faint scent of plastic and chemicals that fresh. un-broken-in kevlar has.
THEY were here. This was their home, their lair.
Her blood began to run hot, and the urge to rampage through the base grew inside her. Her three companions, Princess, Boston Beauty, and Callaigh Marie, looked at her in alarm.
"Tigress, what is wrong?"
"MRRRRRRRRRrrrrrwwwwlll....." She lashed her tail back and forth, and subconsciously dropped to a low, stalking pose. Her whiskers twitched and her eyes dilated. "THEY arrrrre herrre. Ferrrral smells them!"
"What's she talking about? She knows of the Council?"
Feral started. Council? Was that their name? Good. She liked to know the name of those she hunted. She took note of the huge eye symbol on the concrete bunker just ahead. The image was filed inside her head as one to look for. It didn't mean 'criminal' or 'pest' or any of the more commonly used concepts she used to categorize the bad guys she went up against.
It meant 'Prey'.
"She's all amped. Look at her. Feral, are you OK?"
Feral issued a long low growl, her response drawn out as she rolled her 'r's' more than usual. "Ferrrrral is fine. Ferrrral has found those who DEADED Mummy and Daddy!! So Ferrrrral gonna make them bleeed!"
"FERAL!" The sharp commanding tone let her know that she'd crossed a line. "You promised. No Killing! We hurt them enough to knock them senseless, and send to the Zig! Remember!!"
"No. This time... Ferrrral gonna do same to them as they do to Ferrrrrrral.. and Ferrrral's frrrrrriends!"
-ZAP!-
The corrective collar she wore hadn't had to be used in months. She'd forgotten it had that function. She remembered now, whimpering.
"FERAL! Stop. You WILL behave. Or I'll send you home."
Feral was in the middle of trying to think of a reply, when the Council patrol spotted them, and opened fire.
"Incoming!"
Ah. Her sisters were distracted. She reached up a claw, and popped the collar loose. Normally this was a Big Sin, to defy the authority of her team leader and friend. But... she HAD to do this. To set her parent's ghosts to rest, to avenge them... she HAD to.
"ROOOOOWWWR!!" She set upon the Council patrol like a ball of knives all bundled up in muscle and sinew. She could smell a new smell from them now... terror.
And as her claws sliced into them, hamstringing one, gutting another, slicing the throat of a third... she could smell the coppery scent of their blood, and she knew she would never be the same. Up until now, the scent of blood meant she'd been too rough. Now it meant that she was being what her ancestors were... a hunter. A predator. A killer.
She hunted them. She hunted them all.
--------------------------------
The ache returned. It was one she realized would never heal, unlike the ones she got from fighting.
Even though she'd mauled soldiers from one end of the base to the other, causing one of her companions to get violently sick at the sight of the Archon, sliced to ribbons and his blood pooling over the steel deckplates in his command center... it didn't bring her parents back.
She felt ashamed. They were... judging her. She'd broken promises, lost track of who she was trying to become... and the ghosts were not pleased.
'MROOOOOOWWL!!!'
------------------
(Backstory - Feral Tigress is a mutated white tiger, the result of a Council genetic experiment, attempting to add some human traits to white tigers to develop yet another hunter/killer race. The experiment was scrapped; she was the only survivor of a litter of five. She was reported as dead by the project director and his head nurse, who severed all ties with the Council and raised her as their own child. Years later she returned to her 'adoptive' home to find them both shot, and the house ransacked; apparently they'd not done enough to escape Council notice. She didn't know who had done the deed... but as you can tell from the story, she remembered the smells.) -
I just want ONE assassin strike to get thru on Positron.

Kashaye looked around. "Frigid, where's your charge?"
"Who, that Makavell kid? DAMN! I got my hands full, Shaye!"
Shaye looked around... oh crap! "Incoming! Powersuits, about, 30 or so!" And it looked as if Makavell had strayed too far and gotten jumped. Well, here's hoping the medical transporter still worked. Good news was, the hospital was only blocks away, so he'd not be out too long.
---------------
Team Tango had managed to clear out the sentries on their side of the ridge, and was slowly working their way up to where they could get a view of the command/control station. Team Foxtrot had run into some resistance... but were still making headway.
However, it was looking as if Shaye's team was gonna be Team Mosh... with the wrong dance partners. -
The second agent was vaguely aware that his sole remaining partner was in dire straits, but pressed his attack upon Clarisa, who was holding her own quite well against a foe that should have easily taken her down. She'd taken a few hits... but with Gwen behind her, the damage was healed almost as fast as it had appeared.
But she didn't have to fend him off forever. Miss Frigid fired a supercooled blast of air and water vapor at him, at point blank range, and the results were immediate - the agent, frozen in place, was an easy target for Clarisa's furious claw attack.
-------------------
Kashaye noticed the second agent raising his sleeve to his face. *Oh no. We haven't cleared you for communications yet, buddy.* She fired a Force Blast at him, sending him skidding across the grass and into a tree. The followup Speed Siphon made him slow to get up and move back into range... and further boosted her own speed. One more Kinetic energy transfer, and Kashaye, Kate, Makavell, and Sister Disco all had increased offensive capabilities, at the expense of the now-severely-debuffed agent. -
Well, fringe on the back is nice... but i like the arms and chest too. -
Bravo, very good!
(let me know if you want to 'pair up' with my elec/elec blaster, Mistress Ohm. She also uses a technological device for her abilities.. but in her case, it is a superconductive mesh that has been miniaturized to the point where it can be concealed under street clothing. She's currently level 22, but she's always willing to SK or exemplar to assist someone else if needed.) -
The left flank group, which had designated itself as Team Tango, had managed to get close to one of the Crey sentry outposts without being detected. However, Team Foxtrot, on the right flank, was not so lucky. Rockslide Red had inadvertently gotten too close to a sentry, and the noise of her rocky armor shifting around as she moved caused him to look up and spot the team.
"Command, this is Owl 3. I have unknowns on my position. They look to be heroes."
"Understood Owl 3. Engage at will, we will send support units."
The three Crey agents and the Revenant manning the post opened fire on Rockslide, who staggered back at the strength of the assault. Heavy Weather immediately kicked up her signature 'hurricane' to provide shelter, and also revived Rockslide with a breath of fresh air. Ginsu whipped out her twin blades ((treat as Katana powerset, but she holds a smaller sword in each hand)) and leapt at the Revenant, her regeneration abilities already kicked into overdrive. She wasn't taking any chances. Voodoo Child attempted to use her magical mindtwisting abilities to lock down the Revenant and keep it from attacking again... but her attempt was botched, and the Revenant instead unleashed a powerful bolt of electricity at her, staggering her and causing her to go into a short spastic dance. Jayne Doe, seeing her team lead hit hard, unlimbered her assault rifle and, drawing a bead on the chestplate of the Revenant's armor, sent a large-caliber slug downrange. The impact was enough to knock the Crey 'hero' off its feet.
-------------------------
Kashaye and Gwen surveyed the sentry they'd have to take care of. "Gwen.. stealth us." Gwen nodded and faded from view. Soon after, so did the rest of the team. They tiptoed closer, and determined that there were two agents in view, and shay could make out the boots of a Paragon Protector behind a stack of communications gear.
"Protector first. Alpha-strike him. On my mark... 3....2....1... MARK!"
The Protector was hit simultaneously by arrows, force bolts, spears of ice, feet, fists, and claws, and at the same time his mind was assaulted with images of him being stripped of his armor and flayed open. The combined physical damage and imagined trauma was enough to make the Protector collapse in shock.
The two agents, on the other hand, immediately locked in on where all the shots came from, and although they couldn't see Shay or her team very well, had a pretty good idea where everyone was. One flipped down a monacle sight over his right eye, and, spotting Clarissa, attemped to take her head off with a spinning back kick. He missed.. but not by much. The other spotted Kashaye, and started to charge her.
She.. felt another strange twinge inside her mind. There was something she could do to this man. Something... useful.
Ah yes! Once she grasped the concept, it was simple.
She gestured... and the man slowed to a stop, seemingly out of breath, as a brilliant blue field emanated out from him, recharging everyone in close proximity. ((Transference - level 26 Kinetic ability - bleeds a significant amount of a foe's endurance off and recharges End on any ally within range)). He brought his sleeve to his mouth to call in for help... but didn't have time to say much, because Kate and Makavell decided to get into the scrap at that point. -

Err... Can't you already use the sleveless biker's jacket?
[/ QUOTE ]
the Motercycle jacket yes, but not the bad [censored] biker jacket.
[/ QUOTE ]
gack, you can't even see the detail on it in that pic.
Here's a better view.
(and yeah, I SO want this in CoH. the moto jacket in there now is sportbiker gear... but we have no appropriate helmets or pants to go with!!)
And for I7... a FRINGED version would be cool... or here's an idea... your chest logo? Put it across the BACK of the biker jacket, instead of the lapel or the toon's chest. -
Virtue is sparsely populated due to CoV Beta being opened up, plus there have been severe issues with mapserver drops and cohupdater connection delays in the past few days.

((OK, this is how this is going to work. I'm assembling squads that someone can 'write in' as they need to. If you need someone on an 'a la carte' basis, write it as if your needed resource notices you're in trouble and jumps in. Or we can set the whole bunch on NPC mode and let them engage Crey as a tactical maneuver, while we focus on specifics.))
Soul nodded, and stood up straighter. (( toggles: Assault and Tactics - if anyone drops she'll pop Vengeance as well ))
"Alright everyone. Crey is running a command/control outpost at the very top of Gimry Ridge. They've sent the regular crooks packing... so all we have to deal with is them, and the civilians. We need two flank teams and a larger frontal assault team. 5 people each on the flanks, 8 on the frontal. Crey's got a lot of nasty toys, and their Revenants and Protectors aren't a laughing matter. So do this by the numbers, no crazy stunts.
War Valkyrie, Voodoo Child, you're team leads for the flankers. Both of you are controllers, so your job is to lock down the opposition so that your teams can punch through. Big Momma, go with War Valkyrie, she'll need you to make as much trouble as possible up front. Rockslide Red, you do the same for Voodoo Child. Scimitar Dancer and Ginsu, you girls get to use your blades. Thank me later. Jayne Doe, Cold Shoulder, provide artillery support for the flank teams, decide among yourselves which you want to go with. Finally, Acid Trip and Heavy Weather, pick a team, you're the defensive end of things."
The named heroines nodded, and split into two satellite teams, conferring among themselves.
OK, Clarisa, stick with Gwen ((you're now sidekicked to a level 30)). I'll provide additional cover. I'll need Miss Frigid along as artillery. Kate, you're assigned to Miss Frigid, OK? (( Sidekicked to a level 25 Ice Blaster.)) Sister Disco, you're our lockdown. Makavell, you get to help her out. ((sidekicked to a level 28 Illusionist)) Hot Flash Helen, tank for us.
One other thing. Mallory here needs someone to watch her until she recovers. Radical Lass, Vivica Shox, you two. Set up someplace where you're out of the thick of it, but also where you can see and provide overwatch, OK? I know you girls want to get into it, but I need some support of my own. ((Mallory is now sidekicked to either a Level 31 Rad/Rad defender, or a level 35 elec/Elec blaster)).
The rest of you, provide cover fire, distractions, evac and medical assistance as you can. Don't get dead.
OK teams... advance to Crey perimiter and take out the sentries. Give 'em all a boot to the head!"
Soul turned to Clarisa. "Boss, you know you don't have to worry about travel powers when I'm around." She popped Inertial Reduction and Speed Boost, and Clarisa was endowed with super speed and superjump abilities, as she was the very first time she met Kashaye. -
Kashaye and Gwen both turned.
"Wait.. how did she pass out? She was busy bubbling all of us... "
Gwen leaned close. "She's worn out. Her leg needs some attention that I can't cure, but I can dull the pain easily enough. But she's not unconscious, she's asleep. And, judging by the way her eyelids are moving, a DEEP sleep. I think she just used up too much endurance too fast. She'll be fine in an hour, maybe two."
Kashaye keaned down, and easily hoisted the sleeping Mallory in her arms. "I can carry her. But we'll need to find a safe place for her, one that can be watched."
As one, the assembled strike force activated their various travel powers and started moving toward Gimry Ridge, where Crey had set up a command and control station to coordinate their forces against Legion. -
(( I was REALLY hoping you were going to stay put, mister i have every toy in the universe... and i'm pissed at you already because you turned my 'stray' into a killer. ))
Positron looked up at the huge sphere on top of the Physiks building a block away.
"What the.... ???"
Activating several sensor arrays, he searched for the source.
"Hot damn, it's green to me."
After about 20 minutes of build-up, a massive tachyon pulse speared upward, striking the sattelite's main emitter dish.
It exploded.
<Positron has Defeated Detention Satellite>
<Positron has earned 1E-07 Exp and 4.8E-08 Influence> -
As the group was busy preparing themselves, a lone figure approached. ((Kate, this is you.))
Lady Gwen intercepted the girl. "Whoa, miss... this isn't a peace rally. We're about to get into some major fighting."
"I know! And I want to help!"
A bemused look. "What can you do?"
In reply, the girl whipped through a kata series of martial arts moves, almost too fast to see. At the end she stood in a defensive posture, and slowly extended her hand and made a 'bring it on' gesture. "I think I can take on a few not-so-nice people."
