Quote:Thank you for your offer, but I'm pretty sure they'll offer the same advice that I'm already following:If you have details on the BSoD's, I'll forward them along to Twitch myself.
Please feel free to send a PM with the usual requested information (system specs, error messages, etc)- Check Memory
- Check Drivers
- Check for malware
- Check Power Supply (Actually 3 the PSU is less than 3 months old and at least 200W more than I need in the system.)
- Defrag HD
- Try another computer
I might end up having to view the stream on my laptop.
-Snow Globe.
PS.
The type of error I'm getting is the complete computer crash and restart type of unrecoverable error.
Edit:
I want to make it clear that I in no way blame Paragon Studios for the crashes. It may just be that my main computer is one of the small percentage that flips out trying to watch TwitchTV. I should have a back-up plan in place next week though. -
Quote:Well, after 15 minutes and 3 times getting a BSoD watching TwitchTV, I'm completely unimpressed. I don't get BSoDs on anything else, including UStream (or YouTube), so whatever they are doing is annoying my machine in an unique way.UStream was an absolute breeze to set up with an external IRC client (I despise web-based IRC clients with about the same amount of passion I have for this game as they are usually something you find in a barn) (edit: compared with TwitchTV).
Have fun, I'm not going to watch. -
-
Not just you. Though it can -find- City of Heroes, it just doesn't show any -channels- for City of Heroes.
*edit* I'm talking about the website, not through an mobile device app. -
Yes, if you have enough Paragon Reward Tokens, you can subscribe for a month and claim the Tier 9 VIP costumes then unsubscribe while keeping the costumes.
Note, that means you already have Tiers 1-8 filled (34 Paragon Reward Tokens total placed) plus being a subscriber plus the available tokens for the VIP costume sets.
Once you have unlocked the set, it is permanent on your account. -

However, I don't know if you're aware , but there's currently an issue of sorts wherein, users cannot see / interact on a Stream's chat channel, logged in or not. Apparently has to do with Twitch TV changing stuff on the backend.
In the event that this issues persists into the time for our Stream, I hope you've got Ustream as a backup.
Here's hopin'.
And good thing I have a direct link to Paragon Studios' page, as the "following" doesn't seem to want to work.
Edit:

I believe that is an option for their market provider. However, that might require signing into the provider's website, not NCsoft's.

Quote:Note: If you want to copy the entirety of the drive, my advice for network transfer still works as well.
Simply share the C drive itselfQuote:If its an old IDE drive and there are no IDE ports in the new one, I would partition image it to a new USB drive. Its simpler than getting an enclosure, and if you're buying an external USB for backups anyway, its basically cheaper. I've seen 500 GB USB drives on sale for under $70 and you could image an entire 120GB drive onto one partition on that disk, leaving over 300GB left for backing up the new system. And you can get rid of all the old hardware.
Note: whenever possible, you should wipe out hard drives before giving them away or throwing them away. You don't want someone recovering critical personal information from a discarded hard drive. Another good reason to image the old drive and keep it around: once you do that, its safe to wipe the old drive and chuck it.
I've recently migrated my parents from an old system to a new one and I just copied the old system to a 500gb drive then transferred the files to the new system. I also still have the old drive as backup. I could have done the network transfer, but the portable usb drive was faster. -

Accomplishment- Midnight Squad - Change!
- How to get - In addition to the old ways to get this by doing Montegue's (hero) or Ashley's arcs (villains) you can now get this badge by getting the House Hunter explore badge.

Quote:Doesn't surprise me. At a guess it would happen even with other pop up windows & dialogs. There is a leak in the way Popmenus are displayed in such that when a menu is opened, the memory usage rises. But when the menu is close, the memory is not released. If the same menu is opened a second time, the memory rises again.
Quote:If the ram could be released after a menu is shown, then we could have very large popmenus. Even leaving alone, given enough menus opened, the client will eventually run out of ram.
Quote:I have a popmenu with the following stats:
1,432,325 Lines
189,087 Submenus
440,937 Options
385,163 Locked Options
49 Megs
Pop Menus =/= Pop Help. He's talking about menus like the quick chat menu. Though they might also be contributing. -
Quote:And you missed my point. If there is something they can check for, it can be made into an access point. Additionally it gates content as many don't like to have a -4 level penalty so they don't join said content. It isn't a hard gate, but it is a gate. You posted an immense chunk of that post apparently correcting me when I said what you did. You can go on the trial without the slot slotted. That's what I said.
Edit: Here's what I was responding to.
You aren't barred from going on the trial without that slot filled. You're barred based on whether it's unlocked. Slotting doesn't provide access. Unlocking does. -

Quote:When people were looking at it, back in 2007, the Halloween GMs functioned exactly as I described. It got to the point that if a player could be SK'd up past the GM level that their damage would improve by doing so. Sadly, forum purges eliminated the threads in question.I'm not sure what tests you're referring to, but that's not how the GM code works. The GM code neutralizes combat modifiers. Its the critter equivalent to the IgnoresCombatModifiers switch for attribmods. If you saw anything other than a disabling of combat modifiers, I would /bug it. If the Halloween GMs actually work in the way you describe, that would require completely new mechanics just for them, unless the zone imposed a level 30 level on all the players. There's just no way for an enemy to treat an attacker that way that I'm aware of.
Quote:No, they're not. You can go on them all you want. You just suck real bad. Your rewards are exactly the same, though, which wouldn't be the case if you were -8.
Actual levels make it strictly impossible to attend, period.
Quote:Emperor Cole's Incarnate Control -Combat Levels
Emperor Cole's control over the forces of the Incarnate are preventing every hero, villain or in-between from utilizing their full strength. This is effectively causing you to fight at four combat levels lower than you actually are.
Only those who have embarked on the path of the Incarnate and are utilizing an Alpha Incarnate ability are immune to the effect and fight at full strength.- Does the character have the Alpha slot unlocked?
- If no, trial cannot start.
- If yes, proceed.
- Does the character have the Alpha slot slotted?
- If no, apply Emperor Cole's Incarnate Control.
- If yes, do not apply debuff.
Quote:Were that true, I find actually find it very unlikely that the Magisterium trial would be gated purely on having Lore and Destiny unlocked, instead of slotted. Unlocking them gives you a badge, which is something that gates access.
Quote:No, it did not meet your expectations, and apparently the OPs and GuyPerfect's. Are you representative of "a lot of" players? How do you know? Perhaps people I play with just don't talk about it, but I don't find your expectations to be something I hear mentioned by others in game, which leads me to question that assertion. - Does the character have the Alpha slot unlocked?
-
The problem has existed since Issue 18 beta. If it isn't fixed yet, I'd have to say that this is an extremely low priority to get fixed.
-
Quote:And what does a change in level do, according to the players? What does it mean when Giant Monsters "ignore level?" What does it mean when you are sidekicked "up a level?" What does it mean when you are exemplared "down a level?"
- Foe cons differently
- More damage per attack
- More mez duration on mezzes
- More healing delivered per heal (this usually tracks max HP)
- Possibly higher buff caps, depending on the attribute in question
So 2 Rad defenders: one level 40 and one level 15, both using the same attack slotted the same attacking a level 30 GM. The level 15 can have its attacks buffed, but the level 40's damage is capped out at the equivalent of level 30. The Halloween GMs proved that.
Quote:There's also a lot of non-attribute stuff that might be unlocked by your security and combat levels, such as access to contacts, titles, storage increases, ability to slot specific enhancements, etc. None of those can be tied to level shifts, because level shifts are transient. They are a buff that's applied to you, rather than an attribute of your character.
And that is the problem with the Incarnate slots/system. It is a half-baked idea that didn't actually meet a lot of player's expectations.
And that doesn't meet a lot of players expectations as to "level shift". That is why they needed to get feedback. -
I can see that. Which makes taking inspiration from Aliens/Prometheus even more silly.
-
Quote:Actually, I think it would have been beneficial for the developers to solicit feedback on using the term level. Why? It is because players have established what a level does. By changing it to a "buff" it was bound to cause confusion as to what the developers meant, what the players expected from "levels", and what they do in practice.Soliciting feedback would, in this specific instance, likely serve no purpose. You're still asserting that shifts are levels even when they are not, which means soliciting feedback would only demonstrate that some people are committed to not viewing the system in the intended way regardless of information to the contrary. Knowing that does not help a designer in any way.
It would be like me telling a client that I'm improving navigation on their website by completely changing the interface with each web page within the site. It would be like a software developer assigning Control+C to anything BUT copy. In other words, they wanted to appear to give players more levels without actually giving players more levels.
Getting feedback early could have prevented the communication breakdown between developer thought and player practice. -
Quote:One time I was passing overhead (Lusca's head), solo, didn't even shoot and got the badge. No team or damage is needed for either the IP or KR events, just proximity. There you go. That explains the issue for Lusca.
Maybe the original poster wasn't close enough for the badge.
Also, it is good to know that those badges work that way, partially. It sucks if somebody is not in range, but it makes it less of a worry about team size and contribution. -
Quote:To answer your questions in order (in case anyone else had the same questions):Hi,
Taken from Snow Globe's consolidated list (non spoiler version):
"Positron's Pal will be awarded through running the current Maria Jenkin's arc, or the arc, "A Hero's Epic" ".
Is the "Hero's Epic" a stand alone arc or just one mish in the new MJ arc?
My main badge alt ran the old Maria Jenkins way back and now just gets the non arc missions from her.
I guess I will need to join a team running it for the first time?
Do I need to do the whole arc or just the one "Hero's Epic" mish in her arc?
Does the whole team get the badge credit or just the mission holder? (am guessing the whole team fingers crossed).
Is it possible to farm the mission? Does the badge award at the mission end or when the guard is defeated if that is earlier in the mish?
Thanks for any help. Appreciated
EDIT: Please ignore the whole of above, just realised it is available via flashback duh, my brain is now officially too old for this game, sorry for spurious post. My bad!- Hero's Epic is the name of the arc, not the mission. The mission is the final mission in the arc, and you need to Rescue Positron.
- You can join a team doing it or do the arc via Flashback.
- If doing it by Flashback, you need to do the entire arc. If you join a team, it depends on where they are in the arc.
- Seeing it is a defeat badge, everyone on the mission map will get credit for it.
- I'm guessing it isn't farmable as the guard is guarding Positron. Seeing that rescuing Positron is the mission objective, I would figure the mission ends at that point.
Oh, and blue text on a blue background is incredibly hard to see. It is hard to see on the villain skin as well. -
Quote:Aliens and Star Wars (1977) marked the beginning of modern Sci-Fi movie. These two movies, especially Aliens, have more realistic imagery than the 50s and 60s. Star Wars had more "realistic" spaceships, and Aliens continued the trend to where we now see hyper-realism in film.Retro implies a vintage of 15 to 20 years ago. Alien was released over 30 years ago (1979). Alien is retro.
The retro set is clearly placed in the 50s-60s, not the late 70s to early 80s. This means stuff like Jetsons (cartoon), and "B" movies of the 50s & 60s ( take your pick, though I really want a dive helmet and a gorilla suit). Ranging from great Sci Fi (Fantastic Voyage, Forbidden Planet, This Island Earth, or When Worlds Collide) to the absurd (Killer Shrews, Robot Monster, Santa vs. the Martians, and Plan 9 from Outer Space), the 50s & 60s had plenty of inspiration to draw from to market this set. If they wanted to use modern media, Space Channel 5 or Planet 51 come to mind as having more connection than Prometheus or Aliens.

Variable, depending on the account. The first thing you can do is to access your account (either in-game or on the web), and check your billing screen. It should have a list of dates awarded.
-
Quote:Then they obviously didn't properly ask for player feedback. This was incredibly short-sighted on the development team's part and, if not Castle, someone else should have spoke up.Also, Castle said it did not occur to him that the players might see incarnate slots with level shift as "a level" while slots without it as "not a level" - there was no intended connection between shifts and incarnate progress in that sense of the word.
Incarnate slots != Level.
Level Shifts = Level.
I'd rather have a T3/T4 Lore slot unused with nothing in Judgement than the other way around. Same goes for Destiny/Interface. I'd rather have a T3/T4 in either Lore or Destiny than build anything in the hybrid slot, and that would apply if I was actually prevented from using the Lore or Destiny powers.
Level shifts mean more than the buffs/powers themselves. If the development team hasn't figured this out by now, I have to wonder what it would take to get the developers to see what is in front of them.
Edit:
Let me be clear, if Alpha, Lore, and Destiny only granted a level shift and not anything else, I'd still value them over Judgement, Interface, and Hybrid. -
Quote:You retain anything you have unlocked. You can find out all Paragon Market and Paragon Reward items you have unlocked by using the /mypurchases command (for more info see this guide: A guide to finding out what you have unlocked from the market). So, to take advantage of the sales for Circle of Thorns and Carnival of Light bundles, I went to go buy them. However, I cannot buy them, and the game gives me the following reason:
"Your purchase cannot be processed. You may already have purchased the item, or the product is not available in the quantities you specified."
However, I have bought neither of these costume sets, and I am only buying 1 of each pack. Now, my question is this: Is anyone else having an issue like this? Or if there is some obscure mistake I have made, is there any way to remedy it?
