Thank you for your offer, but I'm pretty sure they'll offer the same advice that I'm already following:
    • Check Memory
    • Check Drivers
    • Check for malware
    • Check Power Supply (Actually 3 the PSU is less than 3 months old and at least 200W more than I need in the system.)
    • Defrag HD
    • Try another computer

I might end up having to view the stream on my laptop.

    PS.
The type of error I'm getting is the complete computer crash and restart type of unrecoverable error.

    Edit:
I want to make it clear that I in no way blame Paragon Studios for the crashes. It may just be that my main computer is one of the small percentage that flips out trying to watch TwitchTV. I should have a back-up plan in place next week though.

Well, after 15 minutes and 3 times getting a BSoD watching TwitchTV, I'm completely unimpressed. I don't get BSoDs on anything else, including UStream (or YouTube), so whatever they are doing is annoying my machine in an unique way.

Have fun, I'm not going to watch.

  4. Not just you. Though it can -find- City of Heroes, it just doesn't show any -channels- for City of Heroes.

*edit* I'm talking about the website, not through an mobile device app.
  5. Yes, if you have enough Paragon Reward Tokens, you can subscribe for a month and claim the Tier 9 VIP costumes then unsubscribe while keeping the costumes.

Note, that means you already have Tiers 1-8 filled (34 Paragon Reward Tokens total placed) plus being a subscriber plus the available tokens for the VIP costume sets.

Once you have unlocked the set, it is permanent on your account.

And good thing I have a direct link to Paragon Studios' page, as the "following" doesn't seem to want to work.

I believe that is an option for their market provider. However, that might require signing into the provider's website, not NCsoft's.

I've seen 500 GB USB drives on sale for under $70 and you could image an entire 120GB drive onto one partition on that disk, leaving over 300GB left for backing up the new system. And you can get rid of all the old hardware.

Note: whenever possible, you should wipe out hard drives before giving them away or throwing them away. You don't want someone recovering critical personal information from a discarded hard drive. Another good reason to image the old drive and keep it around: once you do that, its safe to wipe the old drive and chuck it.
My advice is basically matching these two.

I've recently migrated my parents from an old system to a new one and I just copied the old system to a 500gb drive then transferred the files to the new system. I also still have the old drive as backup. I could have done the network transfer, but the portable usb drive was faster.

I think they initially figured that players would only open the quickchat menu so many times in a play session and never think that players would find a way to make their own. Especially the monster you've made.

You aren't barred from going on the trial without that slot filled. You're barred based on whether it's unlocked. Slotting doesn't provide access. Unlocking does.
And you missed my point. If there is something they can check for, it can be made into an access point. Additionally it gates content as many don't like to have a -4 level penalty so they don't join said content. It isn't a hard gate, but it is a gate.

If the Halloween GMs actually work in the way you describe, that would require completely new mechanics just for them, unless the zone imposed a level 30 level on all the players. There's just no way for an enemy to treat an attacker that way that I'm aware of.
When people were looking at it, back in 2007, the Halloween GMs functioned exactly as I described. It got to the point that if a player could be SK'd up past the GM level that their damage would improve by doing so. Sadly, forum purges eliminated the threads in question.

Alpha Unlock is required for Apex & Tin Mage. If your Alpha slot is not filled, it gets filled for the duration of the trial with a power that reduces your effective level (nothing else) by 4 levels. This means you are fighting as a level 46 with all your normal and incarnate powers (if you have just unslotted Alpha).

    Quote:
Emperor Cole's Incarnate Control -Combat Levels
Emperor Cole's control over the forces of the Incarnate are preventing every hero, villain or in-between from utilizing their full strength. This is effectively causing you to fight at four combat levels lower than you actually are.
Only those who have embarked on the path of the Incarnate and are utilizing an Alpha Incarnate ability are immune to the effect and fight at full strength.
Basically, the game checks the following for each character:
    • Does the character have the Alpha slot unlocked?
      • If no, trial cannot start.
      • If yes, proceed.
    • Does the character have the Alpha slot slotted?
      • If no, apply Emperor Cole's Incarnate Control.
      • If yes, do not apply debuff.

A lot = more than a few, less than a majority. If you, or the people you regularly team with, don't fit in the statement then you don't have the same experiences that I have. I believe that we've agreed in the past that we don't team or play the game in the same way. I do know that some players during the Issue 18 beta were underwhelmed with the power levels of even the first two tiers of the Alpha slot as well.

The problem has existed since Issue 18 beta. If it isn't fixed yet, I'd have to say that this is an extremely low priority to get fixed.

    • Foe cons differently
    • More damage per attack
    • More mez duration on mezzes
    • More healing delivered per heal (this usually tracks max HP)
    • Possibly higher buff caps, depending on the attribute in question
As to GMs specifically, what it means is that if you are over the Monster's real level, your attacks are capped. However if you are lower than the Monster's real level, it does't match characters whose level is greater than the monster's real level.

So 2 Rad defenders: one level 40 and one level 15, both using the same attack slotted the same attacking a level 30 GM. The level 15 can have its attacks buffed, but the level 40's damage is capped out at the equivalent of level 30. The Halloween GMs proved that.

They are a buff that's applied to you, rather than an attribute of your character.
Actually, you're wrong about that. Apex & Tin Mage are good examples of providing access to content based on incarnate slotting. Speaking of which, there is no coding reason why the other things you describe can't be tied to level shifts.

Knowing that does not help a designer in any way.
Actually, I think it would have been beneficial for the developers to solicit feedback on using the term level. Why? It is because players have established what a level does. By changing it to a "buff" it was bound to cause confusion as to what the developers meant, what the players expected from "levels", and what they do in practice.

It would be like me telling a client that I'm improving navigation on their website by completely changing the interface with each web page within the site. It would be like a software developer assigning Control+C to anything BUT copy. In other words, they wanted to appear to give players more levels without actually giving players more levels.

Getting feedback early could have prevented the communication breakdown between developer thought and player practice.

Also, it is good to know that those badges work that way, partially. It sucks if somebody is not in range, but it makes it less of a worry about team size and contribution.
One time I was passing overhead (Lusca's head), solo, didn't even shoot and got the badge. No team or damage is needed for either the IP or KR events, just proximity.

Is the "Hero's Epic" a stand alone arc or just one mish in the new MJ arc?

My main badge alt ran the old Maria Jenkins way back and now just gets the non arc missions from her.

I guess I will need to join a team running it for the first time?

Do I need to do the whole arc or just the one "Hero's Epic" mish in her arc?

Does the whole team get the badge credit or just the mission holder? (am guessing the whole team fingers crossed).

Is it possible to farm the mission? Does the badge award at the mission end or when the guard is defeated if that is earlier in the mish?

    Thanks for any help. Appreciated

EDIT: Please ignore the whole of above, just realised it is available via flashback duh, my brain is now officially too old for this game, sorry for spurious post. My bad!
To answer your questions in order (in case anyone else had the same questions):
    1. Hero's Epic is the name of the arc, not the mission. The mission is the final mission in the arc, and you need to Rescue Positron.
    2. You can join a team doing it or do the arc via Flashback.
    3. If doing it by Flashback, you need to do the entire arc. If you join a team, it depends on where they are in the arc.
    4. Seeing it is a defeat badge, everyone on the mission map will get credit for it.
    5. I'm guessing it isn't farmable as the guard is guarding Positron. Seeing that rescuing Positron is the mission objective, I would figure the mission ends at that point.

Oh, and blue text on a blue background is incredibly hard to see. It is hard to see on the villain skin as well.

The retro set is clearly placed in the 50s-60s, not the late 70s to early 80s. This means stuff like Jetsons (cartoon), and "B" movies of the 50s & 60s ( take your pick, though I really want a dive helmet and a gorilla suit ). Ranging from great Sci Fi (Fantastic Voyage, Forbidden Planet, This Island Earth, or When Worlds Collide) to the absurd (Killer Shrews, Robot Monster, Santa vs. the Martians, and Plan 9 from Outer Space), the 50s & 60s had plenty of inspiration to draw from to market this set. If they wanted to use modern media, Space Channel 5 or Planet 51 come to mind as having more connection than Prometheus or Aliens.
  23. Variable, depending on the account. The first thing you can do is to access your account (either in-game or on the web), and check your billing screen. It should have a list of dates awarded.

Then they obviously didn't properly ask for player feedback. This was incredibly short-sighted on the development team's part and, if not Castle, someone else should have spoke up.

    Incarnate slots != Level.
    Level Shifts = Level.

I'd rather have a T3/T4 Lore slot unused with nothing in Judgement than the other way around. Same goes for Destiny/Interface. I'd rather have a T3/T4 in either Lore or Destiny than build anything in the hybrid slot, and that would apply if I was actually prevented from using the Lore or Destiny powers.

Level shifts mean more than the buffs/powers themselves. If the development team hasn't figured this out by now, I have to wonder what it would take to get the developers to see what is in front of them.

    Edit:
Let me be clear, if Alpha, Lore, and Destiny only granted a level shift and not anything else, I'd still value them over Judgement, Interface, and Hybrid.
