Quote:Thank you for the clarification! There have been some questions regarding this promotion that I'd like to take the time to address.
Yes.Quote:So, as someone who began an annual subscription in September, I can change to this?
If you began an annual subscription (ie already paid for 12 months) in September by choosing this deal you are agreeing to the deal at your next renewal date. So (in your case) if you select the 12+2 deal, then next September you will pay for a year and get 2 more months, provided you don't cancel your subscription (for any reason) before your renewal date.Quote:Q1) If I have time remaining on my subscription, how can I take advantage of this offer?
A1) Starting at 9:00AM EST, on November 29th, 2010 through 11:59PM EST, December 13th, 2010, log into your NCsoft account management page. There will be a clickable banner ad promoting this opportunity. If you click on it, it will take you to a page where you can change your payment plan without cancelling your account.
This was answered with Q2:Quote:Or does that mean I'd be buying another year in addition to the year I already paid for?
What this means is that if you select the 12 + 2 plan, next September you agree to be charged a year's subscription for 14 months of service. -
Quote:Yes, that is where we tried to fight them. Several players died. It was during a master run, so no one was hitting the hospital at that point. The buffers were the first to die due to less health and getting knocked into walls by the grenades (I speak from first-hand experience about this).I wonder if you mis-read what I wrote. Whack Reichys either at the bottom of the steps or the top landing to spawn ambushes but KILL the ambushes at the T junction of the caves where Reichs won't come.
If the team can't manage that, my guess is they aren't staying tight, people are chasing mobs, or whoever was buffing, wasn't doing so. There is AoE damage but by funnelling the ambushes into those tight areas, any reasonable team should be able to destroy them quite easily; as I said, all my Master runs are done like that.
I wonder if one person died and went to the hospital, dragging stuff across the map on their return. As I said above; that's a bad idea.

Quote:Only one character needs to be 30... The character with the arc. It has always been that way. I just helped a level 27 and a level 28 get access last night.Wanting to bring my Bane [or whatever] to Cim as a level 45 or so, only to be denied access to the club because I was told "NO" as a level 14, and then I forgot that I had to run the arc after level 30 - because I have all my heroes ready to go, but my villains for some arbitrary reason are not allowed until post-30..... quite frankly, stinks.
So grab a villain or rogue that hasn't done the arc and up to 7 other characters can unlock access by just finishing the 3rd (final) mission or that arc. The other 7 characters can be any level (1-50) that can team with the mission holder.
Admittedly I haven't tried with a vigilante, but given how badges work, I don't see any issues for them either.
Also the redside arc is quicker and more fun than the blueside arc. -
Quote:Okay, in the past (which admittedly might not be the case here) the deal worked like this:Is this not in direct contradiction to
if you have a sub already going the best way is to just do a one off payment as time stacks but bonus time does notQuote:If you cancel the subscription prior to the end of the payment period you signed up for, you forfeit the free month or months. You cannot stack multiple promotions.
Example #1:
Say my annual subscription date was Feb 12th, and the deal was on during December. I could, in the past, cancel my subscription now, but still play until Feb 12th. If I took the 12 + 2 deal, then when my time expired on Feb 12th my next subscription renewal would be April 2012. If I cancelled during January to change my payment plan, then I'd forfeit the extra two months.
Example #2:
Let's say the last two of these 12+2 deals and a couple of retail editions that I found cheap bumped my subscription date to December 20th, but I still had a 12 + 2 deal waiting for that date. If I cancelled to try to take advantage of this current deal, I would only have a single year + 2 months, not two years and 4 months. I would not have 2 consecutive 12 + 2 deals.
Now this is how it has worked in the past. We could be dealing with something different, but that is something for the Community Reps or Marketing to clear up. -

Quote:Your group likely did enough damage to spawn both groups of ambushes. I had that happen once. The trick is to only slightly damage Reichs. It isn't the TV reactor. I've been on Cuda's where I've refreshed the temp power twice and the ambushes didn't end.
I was on a team that tried that. We had a team wipe due to lack of room to work with. -
Quote:I think it is because I've done it that way. It isn't all that special. It took 552 hours over 6 months to do. I'm now at 8 level 50s over the last (almost) 6 years. This is with 2 years of the XP accelerating. In my experience I've hardly noticed the Patrol XP. It also caps at one ring (10 bars) at a time.Wow, I'm starting to think you are trolling, because this really isn't brain surgery: I want to get to level 50 under my own steam, without artificial accelerants. I want to know that when the bell goes "DING-DING-DING! CONGRATS YOU'RE LEVEL 50!" that I got there by my own efforts and not because I got a boost for being lazy about playing my character. I want to be rewarded for my diligence, not my sloth. Is that so hard to understand?
Isn't that like saying you want speed boost's recharge bonus but without +runspeed?Quote:"Poorly defined?" Here you go: "absent any XP acceleration bonus granted by Patrol XP." (I refer to "XP acceleration bonus" specifically because I'd be okay with the XP debt-cancelling function of Patrol XP if for some reason that function couldn't be shut off.)
Should we also return to the XP reward tables from before XP smoothing? They are both developer bonuses to speed up levelling. It is this point that I'm really confused about. You seem to want to take away one type of XP growth, but only partially, yet leave the other XP bonuses intact. To me that is contradictory.
That is happening to a lot of people lately. It shocks them too.

Well, if there was an arts specific catagory:
Quote:Juggertha
LadyJudgement

This one either goes on the Artist list, or the MFL:
Darkjedi - and if people are wondering why, just read this thread, and look at the pictures linked in the first post. -
Quote:If you are a vigilante, you are still a hero. So no, you can't be invited to a villain group.I just switched to redside. I am vigilante, but cannot get invited to a VG -- it says I'm "the enemy". Do I have to be full villain? In broadcast people all say yes, you can be invited.
ETA: I have not bought "Going Rogue", if that's even available yet.
You cannot possibly be a vigilante without owning Going Rogue in some form.
Did you pre-purchase so you could access Dual Pistols or Demon Summoning ($29.99 starting in the beginning of March)? Are you able to start a Praetorian? Did you get a morality mission and change from Hero to Vigilante? If you answer "yes" to any of these 3 questions, you have Going Rogue.
Going Rogue went live on August 17, 2010 with Issue 18. -
Quote:I know I was at least mentioned on the EU forums before they were shut down. Here's how it works. The Seven Legendary Forumites (7LF) are decided, currently. This list is for the seven most legendary Forum posters for their own reasons and contributions to the forums. These members should be known throughout all 16 NA and European live Servers, also known in almost every section of the forums.

Please don't give Marician Tobay another reason to hunt me.Quote:The Seven Epic Forumites (7EF) is for those members have done extraordinary things and may be famous on their server or in the sections of the forums they haunt, but possibly not quite reached the level of Legendary, yet. Possible Nominees for this list would be, Marician Tobay and LadyJudgement
MFL:
Speaking of hunting, Lemur Lad goes into hiding a lot, does that mean he needs to be on the MFL even if he is active sometimes?
I'll second Mad Scientist gladly for both his base & badge lists.
Snow GlobeQuote:If possible please supply a link to their forum profile cause I am lazy and don't feel like looking it up.
Edit:
I nominate Golden Girl for the Infamous list.

Quote:Unsubscribe? I don't have this thread on subscription. I have the section subscribed to, but not this thread. If you don't want to be bothered by our conversation, there's a neat little toggle called "Unsubscribe." (Isn't it nice to have options?)
Or just ignore the extra XP. It isn't hurting anything. It is beginning to sound like you don't want to get to level 50 under any circumstances.Quote:Forcing me to go out of my way to kill my character is not a satisfactory workaround.
That is something completely unrelated to what you are asking for.Quote:My bad. I'm thinking of the Ctrl-click that causes a power to reactivate once it has recharged (e.g., Hasten). Apparently that setting does get saved somewhere, because I've never had to re-Ctrl-click Hasten after logging off and on.
I would hazard a guess that far less than 1% of players would actually use the toggle you have suggested. I can say that I've not heard of anyone complaining about the bonus XP in the last couple of years since it was introduced. Given the turn off XP option was enabled at the same time, I think you've lost this battle long before you suggested it.Quote:Or the devs could provide a toggle that lets us shut off Patrol XP. A player shouldn't have to jump through ridiculous hoops to accomplish what a simple new toggle or button will accomplish.
The difference is that there was a significant portion of the player base that wanted color customization. There likely was a large amount of subscription cancellation surveys that cited the lack of customization as a reason for quitting.Quote:Heaven knows I could have cared less about color customization on powers, but I never -- not once -- posted that it shouldn't happen just because there were other things I wanted to see done in the game.
That is my problem, I don't think there is any merit in having a turn off patrol xp option. From what I can see, you think the merits of the suggestion is that you can level at a poorly defined "normal" levelling rate.
The "normal" levelling rate includes several XP bumps over the years, XP smoothing, and Patrol XP. I consider Patrol XP a part of the normal levelling rate. So players can either turn off XP totally or accept the normal levelling rate that includes Patrol XP.
Actually I can safely say that I would never use it, even if it were made. Just like the Party Pack. -
Quote:There are typos (reported) and inconsistencies in that announcement. I think the lawyers need to take a break and allow the announcement to be reworded in a clearer manner.I'm pretty sure it's D) don't cancel, just buy some time.
However, you might want to wait for a redname post on exactly how that works. I think your time gets added and your renewal date gets moved to September (after the free month, if you buy a 6 month sub), but I'm only about 85% sure, so I think some clarification is needed. -
Quote:Well you might be able to change to a one month billing (or use a game time card) and then change the billing type to this offer during that month.Of course my resub comes on the 28th because ive been with CoH from the launch so I miss the promotion by one day. Talked with NC support and they said the only way I could get the promorion would be to cancel my sub for a day...I know its one day but I've never let my sub lapse before. This is making me sad.
I know my game time expires late next year (around October). -
Quote:Actually the previous deal like this did not require you to "cancel and resub" if I remember correctly. For the others - you'd cancel and resub. There is no reason to believe it would work differently.
Edit:
I could be wrong though. If it was like previous promotions of this type, if you had a lot of game time you cancelled your current type of subscription, selected the new offer, then you'd pay when your current amount of time expired. -
Quote:And I see that you still haven't made any posts in the Suggestions and Ideas area on this subject.Agreed, and I'm sure that there are plenty of options that most players never use. I could list a few dozen options that I've never once changed from the defaults. Nevertheless, those options exist either because players requested them or because the devs thought they would be nice to have. "No Patrol XP" is simply an option I'm requesting...because for me, it would be nice to have.
This is the Player Questions area. This tells me that you are less interested in having the suggestion made to the developers and more interested in making a pointless grandstand to annoy others that have no control over what gets done.
You asked if there was an option to turn it off. There is: Turn off ALL XP or allow your character to get defeated enough to burn off the Patrol XP.
Continuing to argue in this section is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.
They are not. I can't toggle Hide on a stalker, turn the game completely off, then come back to the character being in hide still.
The suggestion is getting even more picky and even more limited use. You have the tools at your disposal, use them.Quote:The only thing I'm not sure of is whether Patrol XP clears debt while the character is offline or just when the character logs on, but if all I could get out of a "No Patrol XP" option was to switch off the XP acceleration function and not the XP debt clearance function, I'd be okay with that
I really hate the idea that everything has to have RP logic spelled out. You want something to simulate that without the Patrol XP toggle: before you log out, get defeated until you have a full ring of debt. When you come back to the character the debt will likely be gone and you will likely not have Patrol XP. Problem solved.Quote:the idea that the character, ashamed of his poor performance, has been training extra hard offline so as to bring his skills back up to par makes sense to me.
Funny, I get hair cut coupons that say "we haven't seen you in a while, so use this coupon to get half price on your next visit."Quote:Nice try, but the earmark itself was earned through inactivity. (I'd love to see a sandwich shop say, "Don't buy anything from us for 6 months, and we'll give you a coupon to buy-one-get-one-free!" That just doesn't happen.)
While I feel the same way about the day job badges, that bridge has been past for about two years now.Quote:It actually encourages players not to play their characters.
Actually, it is. It means that players use less bandwidth and server resources. It also means that players will not get bored as easy. It also rewards the players that don't have a lot of time to play the game.Quote:It isn't in CoH's best interests that you should have a life!
Get defeated to clear out Patrol XP. Problem solved.Quote:To everybody else; the REASON that it would be nice to turn off Patrol XP without turning off Earning XP, is because there is a satisfaction in seeing one's progress based on some established "norm" or benchmark.
Turn off XP if you don't want to outlevel content. Make a level pact with another character that doesn't get used.Quote:it will cause one to outlevel half or more of the content in a particular level range before it can be done.
20 minutes getting defeated? Wow, that is taking you far longer than it should.Quote:Otherwise, one has to do accounting work to try to match "normal" XP gain, or one has to spend 15-20 minutes getting defeated each login to wipe out the patrol XP.
Well, you just made me even less inclined to want to help you.Quote:So, NewScrapper, I hear you and I feel your pain 100%. For all the naysayers and detractors, y'all can bite me.
That is your problem, not the game's problem. Again, you are complaining about being given a gift. You are coming across as ungrateful and resenting that gift. The developers have given you several ways to fix the issue, the players here have given you other ways. Use the tools you have or head to the suggestions section and try to make your case there.Quote:Who knows -- maybe what's bugging me is the fact that I've got so many characters who have been logged off for hundreds of days, so whenever I log back into one of them, I spend the first week zooming through levels and then...blah, normal XP rate. I'd rather not have the acceleration at all.
At this point I usually suggest that players turn off the game and take part of that wonderful thing called "Real Life". You are not your character.Quote:I don't mind the Day Job concept because I don't really want to be around while my character practices medicine or reads books in the library, but I do want to be there when my character is fighting crime! Otherwise I'm just a tagalong, not a hero -- it's almost like my own hero is inviting me to join him on radio missions so he can farm XP...sheesh.... -
Quote:About 15 minutes. So can anyone tell me how long it takes for the ambushes to stop?
Buff up.
So you beat on Reichsman a little bit until he calls for the ambush, have a tank (or other meatshield) & healer hold Reichsman in a corner while the rest of the team deal with the ambushes for 15 minutes.
Buff up again.
Then beat on Reichsman a little bit more. When the second wave is called, have the tank (or other meatshield) & healer hold Reichsman in the corner again while the team holds off the ambushes for another 15 minutes.
Buff up again.
After the ambushes stop, pound Reichsman into dust. -
Quote:I'd like to note that same guide is in the Badges & Gladiators section (ie. this section) as well:Much of the Needed Info seems to be available over here in the closed beta board. If you can't access it I could copy/paste it for you or something.

Quote:I have a problem with either your math or your wording. On "Cyber Monday" Best buy has a good deal on the Complete Edition ($10), and the CE also comes with a month's sub and the $7 costume pack, so the real price of the expansion at "full price" is $18-$25.
The "real price" of the Complete Edition with the Black Monday deal is $9.99 + (possible) tax + (possible) shipping.
The real VALUE is $29.99 + (possible) tax + (possible) shipping + $10-$15 free month + $7 costume pack. -
Quote:I think my response can be best summed up by the following test:I want "no patrol XP" because (1) I don't want the hassle of having to regulate my rate of earning XP by doing some sort of "2-mission on, 1-mission off" nonsense; and (2) I want to actually earn my levels rather than being given them as a reward for prior inactivity -- Patrol XP as it stands is basically the MMORPG equivalent of welfare, and I prefer to work for my money.

Quote:I'm surprised that Ingame Item packs STILL do not exist for either the CoH DVD (Cape of the Four Winds, VIP/Destined One badge, Prestige Power Slide) or CoV DVD items (Arachnos Chest Symbol, Arachnos Cape). I'm sure there are people that would pay for a combined CoH/CoV Collector's DVD Ingame Goodies pack. While I'm happy
to see a Cyber sale for 'some' of these packs for CoH, as well as the Best Buy deal, I have to admit, there are several 'fail' issues with this (yo, Black Pebble and Sales Department, take note):
- Why must Leandro and those outside North America and Europe suffer with the stupidity of NOT having access to these sales?

- With all the hoopla over the (in my opinion, as with many forumites) ridiculous pricing of the Party Pack, WHY wasn't this added to a 50% off sale? MOST ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS STATED IF YOU DROPPED IT DOWN BY 50% OR SO, A LARGER MAJORITY OF THE FOLKS WOULD'VE BOUGHT IT! *Epic Fail on opportunity to get others to buy Party Pack and redeem yourselves (talking to you, marketing/sales) over this*

- Ninja Pack. C'mon. It's popular. Those that don't have it are sure to want it if they had a better value incentive. Not even 15-25% off?

- Gifting. Why, to this day, is it that you can't 'gift' a pack or an expansion to a fellow player via global name from the NCSoft Store? There are over a dozen people in my SGs/VGs that I would LOVE to gift some of these packs to, but alas, denied. I guess you don't like our money...

- Why don't you have an "All Origins" Combined Booster Pack Value Deal? Combine all the Origin-based Super Booster Packs with the recent Origins aura/cape pack, tally it up, take off 10-20%. New players could do one-stop shopping by getting them all in one fell swoop (what a great Christmas/Holiday present, especially if there was a 'gift' option with the NCSoft Store!). Maybe throw in a free/special 30 day Holiday (Winter Event) Jet Pack for incentive?

Take a hint, sales/marketing.
You could've knocked the ball outta the park on this one. - Why must Leandro and those outside North America and Europe suffer with the stupidity of NOT having access to these sales?

Quote:This is correct on all counts. Bosses in this case are the rank, not the name. The progress bar you circled is actually for Untouchable, which is for Family or Marcone Bosses. I believe the Lt versions don't count.

Quote:As long as I'm not on both those lists, ok.Sorry Snow Globe Canadians aren't eligible for legendary status, You can be one of the Seven Epic Forumites though.
I also nominate Satanic Hamster for the infamous list, Possibly Epic too, he did get a Life time forum ban lifted.
I'd put UniqueDragon on the infamous list as well.
Actually, that was TroyHickman.
Absolutely golden response. Thanks for the laugh! -
Quote:Yes, I tested that myself. If one of my characters recieved the Usurper Badge as a villain, and went hero, and then vigilante, would that character be able to start the Lord Recluse Strike Force?
If it is badge related, someone here likely knows and will respond faster (or more accurately) here than in player questions.
