You could, rather, see it as "The crap of today is the fertilizer of yesterday!"

If you can go anywhere and anywhen via the pillar...
...couldn't you just go to a bathroom somewhen?
Seems to me that Oroborous has an infinite number of bathrooms across history for your convenience. -
I stumble into RP in virtue all the time. I am not including Pocket D, either

Quote:Thats just what they want you to think..I'm pretty sure the devs said at Hero Con the Praetorian Nemesis is dead.
after all, we all know how permanent death is in a comic book universe.
Lord Nemesis cannot be stopped by mere death. In fact, if he did die, I'm certain he only did it as part of a grander scheme our puny minds cannot begin to fathom. -

Quote:I find your ideas interesting and would like to subscribe to your newsletterThis is my personal theory.
We know the Resistance is into Steampunk. Who else is into Steam Technology?
Our Nemesis is flamboyant extrovert over the top Supervillain. Could Praetorian Nemesis not be a behind the scenes master manipulator and no one knows about him?
I believe that Praetorian Nemesis is secretly running / control the Resistance so everthing on Praetorian is still a Nemesis plot.
I know, you going to say that the Devs have stated there is no Praetorian Nemesis but he such a great behind the scenes master manipulator that even the Devs do not know about him. -
Quote:Well we know there are is no Praetorian Clockwork King... but the clockwork are right in the open.Well, personally I like "Praetorian Nemesis died happily in his bed at a normal old age." He doesn't need to be involved with the P-Clockwork, Resistance or anything else. Just died a footnote as a former Prussian aristocrat.
This doesn't necessarily mean that there's nothing to do with *any* Nemesis here - we know Nemesis can hop dimensions, argue with alternate-dimension versions of himself, set up bases in other dimensions and the like. But his favored technique seems to be that of replacing people with automatons and setting up front companies - not to mention painting himself as 'bringing order' and such.
Well, the last is done, in a very similar way, by Cole. And the automatons - how would they escape notice by the "Psychic Friends network" that's been set up? "Any traitorous thoughts?" "No, but I've been noticing more people with no thoughts at all - empty shells." -

Maybe I wasn't clear what I was trying to do here...
The point of this thread was to come up with all kinds of wild speculations about what Lord Nemesis might possibly have to do with what we know, suspect, or hope about GR. It's not about anything that might be even remotely "real" or accurate about what is actually going to appear in the game AT ALL.
It's supposed to be a wild speculation thread where we cooperatively create Nemesis Plots involving Praetoria, using tenuous links to the existing canon and whatever we know about GR.
I got us started a few posts up.
For everyone taking this thread seriously: stop that! -
Spoiler's Ahead:
Skip this post if you don't want Spoilers.
In Serpent Drummer's arc, we get this from one of the Rikti Traditionalists:
"Though he didn't seem like the type to talk much, the Rikti Psi-scout called Lk'Onik had something he wanted to say:
'Longtime Didn't: Trust Humans.
We Thought: Humans Attacked: First.
Was There: First Attack.
Thousands: Dead. Lost: Everything Important.
Looked like: Freedom Phalanx.
Further Attacks: Dozens.
Finally Traced: Point of Origin.
Thought Justification: Protecting Ourselves.
... : ...
Since then, seen: Freedom Phalanx; Seen: Earth-Heroes.
Phalanx = Attackers: Impossible.
My Theory: Praetorians. Nothing Else: Makes Sense.'"
In Dark Watcher's arc, however, we get this:
"These triplicated documents are written on heavy parchment by a bold, mechanical hand. Though they're written in code, in an odd oversight, the dozens of draftsman-like drawings scattered through them tell the whole story. From the drawings, you can see it all laid out: plans for dimensional exploration that lead Nemesis to find the Rikti homeworld, the first schematics of the Freedom Phalanx automatons, and force deployments for using the imposters to attack the Rikti homeworld in a wave of terror. Even his projections for the points the Rikti would-be counter-attack, and Nemesis Army rallying points. This is a comprehensive plan that lays out the suffering of two worlds in precise text and line drawings. It may be the single most monstrous thing you've ever seen, and that's even before it's been fully decoded."
So what do we have here? A Nemesis Plot involving using Automatons to attack the Rikti Homeworld. An attack that the Rikti Traditionalists now believe was cause by Praetorians.
Thus we have the beginnings of a link. -

Quote:I, on the otherhand, want Nemesis deeply embroiled in every possible story arc, somewhere. To be totally honest, I hope to have one major story update without having Nemesis smeared all over it. Please.
Even if he isn't.
Because as we all know...
...he really is.
:P -
Quote:By coincidence? Or was it something.... much more sinister? The devs have said something along the liune of "the Praetorian Nemesis died as a happy old man" - so there is no Praetorian Nemesis now.
Quote:But as our Nemesis seems to like to get involved in as many dimensions as possible, I'm pretty sure he'll try something - we might even run into Nemesis scouts who've been sent to Praetoria to check it out.
Of course not everything is a Nemesis Plot...
..except when it is. -
Quote:Yeah but Nemesis can travel time, presumably he can cross dimensions as well. So what does OUR Nemesis have in store where Praetoria is concerned... and does Praetoria's new significance in the world have anything to do with Nemesis' plots and is there a GOOD REASON why they have no Lord Nemesis of their own.... perhaps because of a Nemesis Plot? They've said Praetoria isn't totally a mirror world - so not every villain in our dimension followed the same path in Praetoria.
Speculate! -
Quote:Sorry, this response was Not Fun.Didn't we do this already, before the "not goatee Paragon" thread degenerated into a tiresome lecture series on the ambiguity and subjectivity of moral choice?
Please refrain from posting Not Fun in my thread.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Nemesis has his fingers in EVERYTHING. How will he have his fingers in Praetoria? What role does (or will) Praetorian Earth play in Nemesis' plans?
So...
Nemesis. Plot. Praetoria.
Anyone?
Go -
...or is Praetoria, itself, a Nemesis Plot?
Discuss. -

Quote:Yeah there's been alot of this going on lately.I neglected to send a bug report in last night for this, but I just noticed a thread over on the EU side that (if my limited French skill is still worth anything) appears that it may possibly be a related issue.
I thought I'd share and see if anyone else noticed anything odd last evening with bases.
In my case, I attempted to enter the base portal and got a 'map failed to load' message and dumped back to Talos Island. I tried again twice more, without succes. I told my team mate who happened to be in the base at the time. On the 4th try I zoned in, but it took a long time to load.
Then, while we were standing there managing an inf. transfer a character zoned in at the entrance. They were very confused, as they claimed to have clicked on a mission entrance but instead appeared in our base - and they weren't in our SG. They were very confused, "Where am I?" It was amusing, and odd.
At least it's not doing the thing where it deletes bases at random when that happens anymore...
...we hope. -
Quote:Chaotic doesn't necessarily mean disorganized, per se. It could be organized, but it'd be always in flux, very dynamic. Arachnos is organized, but chaotic. It's organized around the idea of four factions constantly vying for the upper hand, around the idea of "might makes right" and some kind of social darwinism, where infighting is encouraged to help "weed out the weak". It's organized in such a way as to maximize it's chaotic nature.Though the D&D method of alignment has issues, particularly the whole "Chaotic always means disorganized" thing, it's hard to come up with an interpretation of it where Cole isn't at least Lawful Neutral with Evil Tendencies.
Now ultimately in the game none of the factions gets the upper hand for long... as soon as one does, Arbiter Daos steps in and smacks them down hard. Daos might be arguably Lawful Evil (or at least Neutral Evil : he doesn't personally care about order, but he's not letting things go to hell on HIS watch).
Things to remember about the D&D alignment paradigm:
Good, Evil, Law, and Chaos are not just ideas. They are, in fact, cosmic forces that are constantly struggling against each other to try and shape (or unmake) the world.
Pairing one of the four with "Neutral" means they are purely that thing. For instance, Modrons are Lawful Neutral; they are Pure Law Incarnate
SUPERNATURAL beings who have an alignment are a manifestation of those forces. Devils are Lawful Evil Incarnate, for example.
Non-supernatural beings who have an alignment have that alignment based on their tendencies not necessarily on their nature. In 2nd edition, if someone acted against their alignment, they'd take penalties, but 3e did away with that: alignment became more flexible. A Chaotic Evil person could certainly do a Lawful deed or a Good deed, but isn't terribly likely to do either, at least not without a reason to do so. If they start doing Lawful or Good things often for some reason, their alignment will shift along the axis.
In any case, if someone's alignment is in doubt, you judge them by their ACTIONS rather than their intent: since good, evil, law and chaos are real cosmic forces with an objective reality in D&D, actions can be objectively Good or Evil, for instance, independent of the intent behind it. Murdering someone in their sleep is an Evil act, for instance, because it's Murder, even if the victim is a cruel tyrant and with his murder you save thousands of lives. Murder is Objectively Evil in the D&D alignment paradigm, even if it's motivated by good intent.
Obviously not many of us adhere to such moral absolutism in the modern world. We tend to take motive into account as much as action. But our world isn't one governed by two pairs of opposing cosmic forces constantly struggling to gain the upper hand. -
I don't like it. I like the idea of origin-themed costume bits (like the super boosters) and I like the idea of origin-themed costume recipes. What I don't like is the whole specialization thing.
I don't want crafting to get more complex. It's simple and direct right now and I like it that way. This is my favorite crafting in any MMO. Anyone can do it, it's optional, and it's extremely simple. It's the perfect blend. Lets not screw it up.
