As soon as someone feels they need to "put them in their place" by telling them how sad they are, the griefer gets the okay to proceed.
Then you just need to make sure it isn't you. They'll go where they get their cookie from, and if it's not from you, they'll get bored and move along to someone who will oblige them.

If someone you're playing with does this, send them a tell informing them they should just ignore this person or you'll never be rid of them. If they insist on engaging the griefer, then you should probably find something else to do, because that person just encouraged the griefer to make some popcorn and settle in.

It's unfortunately true that someone will always feed the troll. Just don't be an attractive target, it's the best you can do. I always keep my /ignore stick warmed up and use it with abandon.

"I was just playing my character" is never an excuse for griefing.

RP Griefing is definitely harassment, and should be reported. Once reported, the griefer should be ignored. They feed on attention and the only way to truly get rid of them is to starve them out. Give them nothing to feed on and they'll get bored and go away.

Refuse to acknowledge their existence and you'll find they will quickly go looking for prey elsewhere who give them the attention that they crave.

I've done it with both SJ and Combat Jumping. There's really not much of a difference with them speed wise.

Air control is indeed the key.

I didn't have speed boost, but I got the gold medal. I actually find Speed Boost to be detrimental. Best thing I can advise is practice, practice, practice.

    And Super Jump.

Heroes may simply feel that, since they failed to arrest you, getting out of there is the best option so that they don't die for the mistake.
We're not in a comic book nor in real life. We're playing a game together. It just seems to be poor form to refuse to play unless you're guaranteed a win. I can't feel otherwise. I'd certainly never do that to someone else.

I agree with you that this attitude is unwarranted. Anyone in a PVP zone is a potential target. I also think this applies to people who feel entitled to the special perks available in PVP zones by calling them "PVE content." That said, from a role playing perspective it's totally valid to me that a slain *character* would be upset about being attacked.
Yes, but that's not really what I was talking about. It's the sense of entitlement by some players.

If someone actually ever once RPed with me in a PVP zone, they could get away with bloody murder, I'd be so happy.

I never said anything about honor nor justice nor fairness. You're putting words into my mouth. I don't think PVP should be "fair" or "just" nor have "honor" (if you mean what I think you mean by those words - the mythical level playing field). I never said so. What I did say is you should be a good sport. And that's not just about PVP.

I think any time you engage in a competition (and I play alot of games, both at the tabletop and online) you should comport yourself with sportsmanship. I know not everyone agrees with this and some people instead believe in gamesmanship. In fact, I'm sure I'm in the minority position. I know I'm in the minority position amongst the PVP "elitists" most of whom seem to take gamesmanship to an antisocial extreme.

However, I don't approve of that. I believe sportsmanship makes for a better game for everyone all around and one should always treat one's opponents with respect, be it on the chessboard or in a game. I disapprove of it when people act like poor sports. Just like I disapprove of it when someone's rude to me at the grocery store or when someone's being too loud at the movie theater. It's just part of being a civilized human being in my eyes, to comport yourself with a sense of mutual respect for every individual and to do your best to exercise good sportsmanship when engaging in a competition, and being polite to someone when you see them at the grocery store.

Nothing in PVP prohibits someone from being a gracious winner and a good loser.

That's my opinion and I'm choosing to express that. If that upsets you, then that's your problem. I'm standing by it.

Not sure why you keep trying to bait me.

I don't know who those people are, and as I've repeatedly said, I'm not a regular PVPer. I just pop into the zones once in a while. They're usually empty when I do, so I either run zone missions or just leave (or log out to get Predator). I sure don't know who you are or where this chip on your shoulder has come from.

As for who I am in the game, I have about 30 characters on virtue. None of them are named "Paix" or "lolAnything".

No, still in my 30's with that one. I'm already considering upping it to +1/x8, but keep in mind I've only been playing with the new difficulties for about a month (I've been taking time off due to Dragon Age: Origins eating up all my game time lately). I've only just started buying some IOs. +0 x8 was the first new setting I tried and I'm still getting used to that.

I have one level 50 brute (SS/Invuln), and I haven't yet tried him out with the new difficulty settings. I used to run on Relentless back in the day, which is like +2/x1 more or less and that was way too easy. I'm sure I can do +3 easy, just not sure how big a virtual team size yet, as he's got an old pre-IO build that I'll probably want to respec.

Elec/Shield was ok and had some pretty great tools, but I had some pretty good friends to team up with back then.

So, I was curious from those experienced with playing a lot of brutes, what are the best solo set combinations for a brute in your opinion.
I have yet to play a brute I felt wasn't good at soloing. Having said that, I think EA is alright, I don't like shield very much but my favorite Brute secondaries are /Invuln and /Willpower. /WP is especially solo-able as it's got most of the bases covered with very few holes. Good defense, resistances, and regen, you're pretty able to handle most anything coming your way.

I run my axe/wp brute on +0/x8 and can absolutely devastate everything in my path

Of course, the Storage Rack can only hold 30 pieces, so any extras go into the Vault. I also keep a small supply of non-rare, yet occasionally hard to come by, commonly used IO salvage.
I do the same, but I keep 4-5 storage racks out for this. They're all filled with orange salvage.
I also keep 1 rack for event salvage.

I keep my vaults for hard-to-get but commonly used common and uncommon salvage.

Since the SG's were built as solo's they never aquired much prestige. If each SG had 15 members they's only have just over 100k prestige in one and just over 185k in the other.

My main VG has finally gotten to the point where I don't need these teleport bases anymore and I'm thinking of selling them. I just don't know what I should ask for them.

I'd appreciate some advice. Keep in mind I haven't decided if I'm going to actually sell them. I may decide to offer them to any interested party on my servers radio station channel.
It depends on the server. I sold a 1 million prestige base and SG off for 20 million INF a couple of years back. I offered it on the server forums for that server (which I was moving off of) and took offers in "seal bids" via PMs.

If we go with that as a rough estimate, you'd get maybe 2-3 million tops. Probably less though.

What server are you currently on?

Two highest servers in terms of population are Freedom and Virtue.

Virtue is also the "unofficial roleplaying server" so if you're interested in that, that's where to go.

I don't believe it is. Reading the ESRB's guide to their ratings, it sounds like it's compatable for 13+ years of age.

    TEEN
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.

Compare to the next one up:

    MATURE
Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.

It's clearly not an M rated arc.

Given the definitions by the ESRB:

Violence - Scenes involving aggressive conflict. May contain bloodless dismemberment
Violent References - References to violent acts
Intense Violence - Graphic and realistic-looking depictions of physical conflict. May involve extreme and/or realistic blood, gore, weapons and depictions of human injury and death

It's definitely not Intense Violence. It's actually just violent references.

Sounds like CoV could actually be a touch more violent than it actually is and keep a T rating.

Sadly, I really can't see any way of implementing any kind of narrative into PvP.

    Eco.
You can do it in arena matches with similarly minded people. I've done this on the rare occasion I find a similarly minded person to do it with, and it's great fun. It's more than a bit of a kludge, but it's still fun.

If anyone wants to do that on virtue sometime, let me know.

There would be fewer statues if it were server-specific, but then you run into the problem of maintaining seperate databases for each server, or so I've heard.
They might be able to use the AE hologram code to super-impose your image (colored slate grey) over a "generic" statue. You click the plaque, which loads a costume creator, you save your costume in it, it gives you a grey stone skin and shows you on the platform. Like with the AE hologram, only you see your modified statue. Everyone else sees the default "plain grey" statue or their own statue.

And to balance it, villain side, if we click on the NPC, we can TARGET AND KILL THEM.

Don't you guys have that already? We have stuff like that in CoV. I hear NPC comments all the time "I hear Smurch wrecked a bunch of stuff in Paragon City!" and "I heard Smurch stole the plans from the Council!" and that sort of thing quite often.
