  1. Ok, I have a major complaint about those Longbow SOB's.
I am a level 14 stalker, Ninja Blade/Ninjitsu. I was going through a Longbow mish when I ran into a yellow Longbow Nullifier. Now, here's the kicker. Even without my "Build Up" ability, which doubles my accuracy and damage, I can normally one-shot an orange lieutenant. So I'm thinking, "Meh, this guy is cheese". I pull up my hide ability, sneak up to him, pull of a PERFECT assassin strike, and I only take down one....freakin'...HALF of his health! Then, to quote Manticore, "He then proceeded to beat me into something resembling raw Spaghetti-O's". I concur, those Longbows are bloody overpowered.
  2. Actually if you look at Statesman he appears to have applied the ol' zinc oxide for a sunburned nose. He must have just returned from holidays in the sun or......
  3. There are lots of ways to optimise inf income. The problem is that most of them simply are not "fun".

The problem is rooted in the tension between leveling vs income. If you play to max your leveling you tend to decrease your income. The reverse is also true.

Let's face it, the major source of income at the lower levels comes from selling drops. However this is a horrible time sink. Of course this is by design. I'm 45yo and have the patience of a rock. I don't mind shagging my butt to a quartermaster whenever I have a full tray and in fact, if I get to 8 or so, I'll start heading back doing street sweeps to have a full tray by the time I get there.

The downside is of course I level slower then somebody who is just bashing mobs and selling when they need to level up at a arbiter.

Result? I had at level 11, optimised enhancements, when I dinged 12, I had enough for 7 DOs. By the time, lvl 13 comes I will have at least 4 more DOs and perhaps 5. I expect to be fully kitted out by 14 although I will probably just use TOs on the less important ones as I prepare for lvl 17 and especially 22.

This is IMHO the proper way to play a "first" char without higher level toons to fall back on. It's somewhat slower as you spend a lot of time running back and forth but OTOH, I kill much quicker then somebody who has only training enhancments.

As always YYMV and I can well understand that my way isn't for everyone. As an example I don't have any travel powers yet and probably won't until lvl 20. The distances to go are pretty small (as anyone who is used to Independance Port will realise) so I don't mind much. Again, this means I have extra abilities to beat on things which frankly is what this game is all about.

  4. Nightfang paced the halls of the headquarters, his mind spinning with different methods to defend it. He was a veteran hero of Paragon City, and he had just fallen in with a small group of heroes attempting to make a name for themselves in town. He shook his head forlornly. He had seen the Starblazers in action, they were a ragtag bunch of misfits in fancy costumes, granted, they did have some skills, but they would need some godawful training before they could stand up against some of the bigger boys in P.C.
He smiled as he remembered the fire blast his compatriot Overheat had sent into his back on their first supergroup battle. There was Crescent Moon, their healer, a soft-hearted, but sharp-tongued woman. He liked her the moment he saw her. There was rocks-for-brains tanker Boulderskull, mind controller Mental Meltdown, and their former leader (until he got the job), a sword-swinger named Quicksilver.
Quicky fancied himself a technical expert, and comandeered a couple of floor autoguns to do some "personal modifications". A small "boom" from nearby alerted Fang to the outcome of that experiment. He sighed and turned back, walking through the door into the command room.

(In case you are wondering, the base is built like so, a single small room at the beginning with the teleporter, a long corridor, then a huge room with communication consoles in the top left corner, bunk beds along the right wall, workshop tables along the bottom right corner, the big computer and viewscreen on the top wall, and in the middle is a sunken area with couches, a table, fridge, and t.v. I leave the rest of the story and work to your imaginations).

  5. Sir, your ignorance astounds me. I do agree, Statesman is fairly camera-happy (so am I), but that does not mean he is some kind of menace. The Calvin Scott incedent was totally different from what you portray. Sister Psyche was dying, and Aurora selflessly offered herself to keep Psyche alive. Psyche did not force herself into Aurora's mind. Malaise's situation was also different, as he was a villain, and a dangerous one. He could have leveled Paragon City, and killed hundreds. Granted, Sister Psyche did force herself into his mind, but she had no choice. She had to stop him, for the good of the people, and when she entered his mind, she found just a tormented soul in need of help! What else could she do, hmm? If she hadn't helped him, well, look at what happened to the Praetorian Malaise. As for Statesman not showing his mug out there, he's a world-wide celebrated hero, he can't show his face without being mobbed by fans!
He told Calvin Scott that because it was dangerous. Who knows what Calvin could have inadvertently done to his wife?
Statesman is a good guy, all things considered. Granted, his methods are odd, but he is a hero. You have to respect the man's devotion to protecting the world. Personally, I would be happy to fight alongside him anytime. Oh, and also, don't diss the helm, it's his trademark, almost.

P.S, Are you related to J. Jonah Jameson?
  6. Hmm. Mine would probably be something from Evanescence. Most likely my favourite, "Tourniquet". My character is a half-vampyr, half-human mutant Dark Melee scrapper called Blackrobe. Keep your eyes open for him on the Champion Server! My dad's, a Martial Arts scrapper, would probably take something like Bat out of Hell by Meat Loaf.

All the best for your characters!
