  1. It's been bad in general lately. Don't know if this is (still?) related to the problem with the EU infrastructure lately. Don't teach network theory anymore, so I've stopped following the news!

    The Money Pit

I think some of the murders crew wins anyway, activating their old US accounts just to prove some points, and godd..it, I'd pay them to do that, worth every penny!

...and all the other add-on stuff blah blah etc...
  3. With defiant events and the badgers in-game and "what's on..." hardly being updated I just stopped looking for events in the forum. I think most people did once Bridger stopped updating the threads.

Now, anyone that can handly the EBs and AVs shouldn't possibly really be scared by the forums even if some people(are they really people?) are rather... ...unusual!
  4. I read about the game during the US launch and din't quite get what it was all about, dort of forgot about it, started playing Anarchy Online and decided I wanted something fun.

I went to the store and my initian idea was to buy Star Wars Galaxies. Next to it was a box of City of Heroes and it all came back to me. I checked the box and it seemed like a fun game.

I didn't buy it. Instead I went to another store in the mall and bought an English magazine that had a trial account with it - talk about coincidence - and went home, played it for 14 days trying to get "fly".

I went back to the store... Looked at Star Wars Galaxies again, having talked it over with a friend that played that game and was rather annoyed about the changes and decided to take a chance.

While I've met a lot of new cool folks in this game, I still sort of regret it because it's - like other MMOs - pretty much like a drug you get hooked on. Now I've taken the opportunity to pick fights with the company behind it several times so frequent readers know the long rant I could write now so I'm gonna save (repeating) it for another thread.
  5. Oh, that's even wore than all the black/missing textures in Grandville and Spiderbases!
  6. Have it ever worked?
I've pointed this out so often, even petitioned it and bug reported it and never ever got any sort of reply.

...Hence I also requested they remove it so we don't get fooled by it and for a while they did!
  7. Had the grey screen of death reappear the last 3 days, not quite as often as before but on ITFs any time is once too many.
  8. Well, hope the Hamiraid's successful, and deffo meet you in-game. Sunday is funday!!!

I'm sort of itching to try out STF, but that would take some planning, shivans etc. For today, I'm up for anything, Peregrin, ITF, whatever. Me and Mr Burn's been burning through several ITFs lately!

Oh, well, no point going online if the hamiraid just started I guess.
  9. Good luck folks!
Expecting video on Youtube when you're done!

And if you don't want invites to PUGs, but do want invites to your regular/SG teams. No, this is not much of an option.

As late as today, I got another "You wanna join TF" tell, to my villain. I told them it's way easier to find people if they say what STRIKE Force they mean (contact, not name, since people don't know them) and level range. It turns out they where actually talking about an ouroboros initiated story arc and not a task force at all. Still, they didn't send a blind invite at least.

Being busy inventing a numina, some purples and other recipes it took me some time to answer, and righto... They had logged off a few minutes after sending that invite, just like 70% of the people asking for invites seem to do.

Ergo, it's most definitely not impolite not to answer private messages from unknown people. Only a medieval british gentleman could possibly think that!

(Oh, yeah, there where no gentlemen at that period, just the oppressed and the oppressors... well, sort of... ..and Jeanne D'Arc)

    so long all

Always sad to see someone go, even if they uzorz l337 or can't write the whole word "you"!

Sure, some come back, and MA might be worth something (but how are they gonna get I15 out as weill for the five year anniversary beats me), but it's always worrying when veterans leave since they're usually the ones to stay til the bitter end. (Yes, some of my friends just got the new Anarchy Online "expansion" hell bent on staying there til they retire, lmao).

    Have fun, whatever you do!

Wow, I'm amazed how this topic actually reached an epic proportion.

Still, I have not read a single comment actually explaining how it could possibly be concidered rude not to answer a tell from a stranger, since there's such a HUGE reason why you actually can't answer or just don't want to for so many good, un-rude reasons.

But there's one good thing WE ALL could learn from this:
IF you in fact want a team, then FLAG that in the search window.

Also, as I DO enjoy teaming, that doesn't necessarily mean I ALWAYS want to team, or with ANYONE. I have indeed left teams when I've seen some faces in it because I know I will hate every second I team with some people. (I of course send an explaining tell to the team leader and in some cases to the other team members, usually getting one of those "OMG I TOTALLY understand what you mean now" a few minutes later).

Not answering a complete stranger, even under the best of circumstances. Well, ok, I can agree it's not polite, but it's definitely not rude. You have chosen to play this game and payed the fee so it's up to you to enjoy it in any way you want even if others don't like the way you do it. That's their problem, not yours. Just ignore the moral police force and their "We're better than you" standards!
  13. Thank god you're telling the devs this, so they can stop it. It's so horrible that our pets can do that.

Also please let them know we're getting way too many merits, too much xp, inf and all other powers really should be nerfed.

And when your boss wants to raise your salary, please, oh please let him know that you don't think you deserve the salary and he should keep the money and buy himself something nice.

    Yes...
    ...That was sarcasm...

Wow, you're all so good and kind and polite. Must be a forum thingy, because as the OP obviously noticed that's not the common practice in-game. Imho, the actual players not busy posting how polite they are, are obviously busy playing the game being nice and polite with the people the have chosen to play the game with.

Personally I concider myself polite because I've never ever sent a private tell to a stranger asking for an invite (or blind invites etc), because imho it's still almost as rude as calling a total stranger on their phone to sell something or just ask for directions or whatever. Strangely I've still manage to amass a lot of friends in the game and don't ever seem to have a problem getting a team.

While Netiquette is fairly established, I guess MMOttiquette isn't quite formalized yet!

It IS polite to answer, but my point is: it's not unpolite not to answer.

I didn't ask for you to contact me, there's nothing on my search field about "contact me if you want invite" etc.

This could be solved by features in-game. One suggestion is "open" teams that you can invite yourself to if there's spots free. That would be great imho. Another one is for people to actually use the in-game options, sticking LFT on and putting stuff like "send tell for invite" on their field.

but once again, why not just start your OWN team? Or find other ways of getting teams, like using the global channels or joining an active, good SG.

Other reasons not to answer: You don't actually speak english. Loads of people play with just friends that speak their native language. For a while I only played with some swedish SG mates.

Oh, also note, that this game has very very poor handling of private tells. I regularly chat with loads of people and it's rather hard since those chats doesn't open up in their own tabs or something.

Going back to a non-globals tell to answer might be quite a lot of effort, especially if you have a strange alt name and the person supposed to answer hasn't set up private tells on it's own tab (and I s'pose most people actually haven't)

Quick rant coming...Please fellow players, if someone is polite enough to take the time to send you a tell, please return the favor and reply back! even if its a quick "no".
I sent about 10 tells today to fellow players without a single response! Like many others after sending a tell for an "any space" I am honour bound to wait before sending any others to other players...but without a reply, this takes an absolute age. So please be polite, and reply!!

    Many thanks

Having tells sent out to my whole team repeatedly the last days, this post really bugged me. There may be TONS of reasons not to answer. Let me give some examples:

    1. You're actually busy playing the game. Answering a complete stranger the bugs the whole team is definitely ignored (more reasons for this is coming)
    2. Team might be full, no response = no. Learn to accept that.
    3. If you do send a no, it's my experience that the completely stupid follow-up is imminent: "Why?". This may be followed by a 30 minute long debate on why you don't want to invite a complete stranger that's 30 levels below you. Best case, a hero sent me a tell asking for invite as I was exiting Pocket D.
    4. If you're editing base, respeccing, making a new cossie etc there's no possible way to answer that tell of yours, or even read it.
    5. You logged on for some quality solo time, maybe even closed the chat window beacuse you want the meditative experience of the solo play.

I could go on for 1234123 pages with more reasons why you will not get a response. It's like those STUPID blind invites (some people even keep repeating them even when you tell them off).

Now, apparently you have some sense, by actually waiting and not spamming madly until someone sends an invite, but...

If you really want a team, send a LFT in broadcast, and join some of the channels for it, or even better, start your own team and start inviting people after sending them tells.

Yes you guessed it, I HATE those fri"#¤ "Can I join team" spam-tells. Don't get me wrong, I love teaming and it's sad to see people not using the status indicator when I'm trying to pull people together for an ITF etc, but really... If you want a team there's WAY BETTER methods than those #¤%# tells.

Like blind invites, I consider sending loads of "invite me" requests as bad as poeple calling me on my mobile to sell [censored] I've never asked for. While you, the original poster obviously don't really SPAM, most of those tells are basically mad tell-spams and they're definitely ignored unless the team could use a total useless filler.

Any other tells, and/or when I'm not busy, just hanging out I do answer any tell, try to help out as much as I can but calling people rude for not answering a complete stranger would imho be rude.
  18. Once they have recieved the payment, the case also has to go through the griind of getting through the administration at "nc" then to the actual people that handle the accounts. Normally I'd say 3 days for the bank and another 3-5 days for the company to process your payment. If the company uses another company to handle their book keeping etc it'll take another 2-3 days and knowing what company we're talking about here I'd say you can probably count on up to 20 days.

Now... It could be worse, they could've deleted your account or just stolen your money, so be happy. It's a corporate world!
  19. Definitely up fore more fire/rad action, but if people wanna try out some more fire sets I'm up for it. It wouldn't be the same total mayhem I guess and I'm not totally sure I'll stay for the duration, since I think I14 and more importantly I15 is getting close.

I was thinking of trying fire/kin, but looking at the blaster set it really seemed fun - yes, with loads of deaths - but... ...fun...
  20. I'd like to say grats to all the fire/rad trollers and a big thanks for joining the fun all the way to the end:

    Aaliyah Elle
    Flames of Judgement
    Hot Feets
    Incendio
    Mister Burns
    Radiant Smile
    Radiant.
    Sebastian Dracus

Proooper job folks, prober job! Looking forward to more fun with you all.
  21. Oh, this is taking the p.....
I'm not gonna make it this evening either, and I'm going back to work tomorrow. Silly thing is, I've been doing 2 ITFs every day this week, except the days we normally play.

To top it all off, I might be rather late tomorrow as well, but gonna shut my boss down fast. Sure hope to see you all tomorrow at least.

They are continuing with the same number of staff they had at the end of last year.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Never said how many there is, might actually be none/bot!

And I stand by my point, apart from a few good GMs that contact you ingame, move stuck enemies/hostages etc, the general response is so utterly pointless and useless they might as well use a friggin bot. Although that's mostly the fault of the company policy/handbook, I refuse to accept the employees are mindless drones that are hell bent on driving us all mad (that's the dev's job for cryin' out loud!). They're just creating more job for themselves alternatively making themselves redundant by insisting on using these rediculous generic responses and holding us in the dark whenever there's a problem.

    ...it's plain'n'simple stupid!

also, FFM, unlike you, the rest of us have lives and don't have time to read every thread every day, especially when people (like you btw) insist on making pointless one-liner remarks just to up' their post count, usually also ruining perfectly good threads. There's no bloody way I'd read a 10+ pages thread with total nonsense. So get off those friggin high horses of yours will ya?
